  1. thanks for all the input. still getting more quotes and goin thru the ones i have and reading this forum extensively. its so tough to reno a place. i have yet to clarify the quote with the contractor of the one i posted above. so far i dont feel the chemistry with any of the contractors. but most imptly, my mom must be happy so i will let her happiness be my guide. will post up another quote if possible. thanks again!
  2. thanks evil for the reply. but does anyone have their contact?? TIA!
  3. so far i feel contractors work slower then ID. the other contractor that i have met is friendly but his laminate flooring is not appealing. plus i still have to go thru "higher management" aka my mom. she doesnt really approve of him (like choosing boyfriend for me.. -_- ) well for this quotation, i must admit it is very brief. we did not discuss materials, no discussion of creativity or design.. It is normal to test whether are you a layman or expert (can eat or cannot eat) - in this case any way to buff my own knowledge so as to not appear like a carrot in front of them? admittedly i think i've already shown my noobie side to those i've met. am i able to buy the floor plan from HDB? thanks for all yr help rendell!
  4. ah all right.. i was wondering how come u are telling me so much lingo and i catch none of it. well for this quotation, i must admit it is very brief. we did not discuss materials, no discussion of creativity or design.. i dont have my floor plan so i cant tell u whats the sizes. i'll like the workmanship and price to be good cos i believe design can do with input from me. i have been getting quotes. as to whether they are "honest", that will depend on them.
  5. hi is anyone able to pass me the contact for earnest interiors? interested in looking for them to quote me for my reno.

  7. hi all, may i have tau's contact? i've just had defong guys come over to have a look at my place. he seems pretty sincere bt thats just 1st meeting. we'll see. also, may i know what type of hidden cost will there be??
  8. Yup that was my major concern as well, im afraid that govt may decide to enbloc my place since this is "hot area" hopefully someone can shed light if they have info on this. i definitely need some new flooring as my "rubber tiles"has cracked and the kitchen floor is bare cement. i have the lights done and the elec wiring done. my mom's concept is that since we are gonna do it, might as well do a good and lasting job once and for all and wants to get tiles but i am fine with laminate flooring. havent gotten quotes yet. the reno ppl are quite slow...
  9. to update, have received a quote from a contractor. it's about $16k, i will post up the breakdown the moment i get it. is it ex? he loosely quoted me $2k per bathroom/toilet.. seems ex.
  10. Hi there. stumbled upon this forum while looking for some ID/Contractors online regarding reno works. I stay at Blk 264, Waterloo St. its the old type of 3 rm hbd (toilet and bath area split into two rooms, no MBR toilet) I've stayed here all my life (i'm 23) and now we are thinking to reno the place since it has never been reno before. yup im serious. cos my family dont have a lot of money but now our finances are better and im working so we can afford it. hence would like to know if anyone can advise how much does it costs to reno the following essentials: lay floors in living rm, 2 bedrms and kitchen with tiles (think my house currently uses vinyl tiles, not very sure) lay kitchen with wall tiles install kitchen cabinets redo the toilet and shower area paint the house over some simple touches to spruce up the house, dont need a total makeover to a theme since we are on tight budget. lights n wiring, in our erroneous decision, has been done first instead. its a mistake! just wondering if anyone happens to know any quote for such a project? any help is appreciated!
