  1. SELECTION OF TILES & LAMINATE

Last saturday, i went to choose tiles again. This is my 3rd trip.... everyone is telling me to have some idea in mind before going to the shop. The problem is, i already have the idea but the shops have none that is close to what i wanted!

In the end, i choose something different from what i initially wanted. Maybe i am a bit tired of all these thus just choose something acceptable and praying that it will turn out alright.

After choosing tiles, went to the contractor's office to choose laminate. How many items have laminate?

    1) Wardrobe

    2) Platform bed (not laminate but wooden slates??)

    3) Feature wall in bedroom + door facing bedroom

    4) Door to WIW

    5) TV console

    6) Feature wall in living room + door facing living room

    7) Shoe cabinet

    8) Main door

    9) Wardrobe for guest room

    10) Kitchen cabinet

Just 10 items but its already giving me a big headache as it need to match everything else i have. And my contractor says its difficult as i do not like anything that have wood feel or modern glossy (except kitchen).

Until today, my headache is still very painful.... physical pain, not just metaphor. :bangwall::(:help:

Hugs! It's normal... we also not very satisfed with the laminate we had selected so far despite spending two sessions of 3hrs there.... Our colours are mostly black, white and wood. Kind of boring yet we are not willing to take loud prints. Hard to visualise how the big thing will be like by looking at the small small pieces of sample... But good thing is that we like wood grain so one less headache... Let's organise a gp purchase of panadols for all the owners who r undergoing reno...

  2. I have posted the below comment in my T-blog and I think I shd also mention it in this thread. Extract as follows:-

I would like to specially thank Sam from Imperial Distributors who we engaged to install the aircon. He was indeed meticulous, patient and professional. The stainless steel rack was short of about 3-4” and if we were to install it, our window will not be able to open fully due to the big compressor. Sam insisted of rushing back to the factory to customize another new stainless steel rack immediately even thou we are okie with it as we don’t intend to open the windows to the maximum. They stayed back till about 8.30pm to work on the trucking. Awesome! Another guy I will like to thank is Aron who is handling my sale. I called on last Monday to confirm my order and he mentioned that the earliest delivery date was 17 March. I told him to try to arrange for today to install the trucking so that I need not waste another day of leave since I’m already taking leave for Electrician and plumbing works for today. He said he will try but we better confirm first and book the earliest date which is 17 March for installation. We initially thought that he was just eager to close the sale and ‘entertaining’ us when he said he will try to get his men to install on the date (7 March) we wanted. But to our surprise, he actually called 2 days later confirming that he will be able to slot us in for installation on 7 March! He actually took our request seriously! We were so impressed! The service provided by Imperial was indeed commendable! There will be a 2nd installation later on after painting has been completed and we are very sure that Imperial will handle it very well too.

  3. Today was a very busy day for us. Imagine I had 4 groups of people coming in at the same time; plumber, electrician, tilers and air-con. Total madness. Plumber, electrician and aircon all queuing up to do a final confirmation on the placement of the respective points/trucking/piping. Very stressful…Lucky we have Henry following thru with us. Everything was in order and nicely coordinated ;)

  4. haha same for me... i always neglect my own thread leh hahaha

wah can squeeze in so many wardrobe! my mbr is so small that i wanna squeeze also cannot :bangwall:

Actually cannot lah... Henry don't encourage.. My masterbedroom practically got no walking space liao... What to do... I got a super vain hubby who has as much clothes as I have... More shoes than mine... Now we are fighting over the 7ft wardrobe... Verdict not out yet...

  5. Comments about the stores I have made my purchases:-

    1)Sanitary stuff - Royal Fanco

Excellent customer service! I went there many times to cancel and change items and never once they show any black face hor... They were very attentive and accomodating.

    2) Fujioh Hood & Hob - Goh Ah Bee

After calling/checking the prices for the desired models, GAB offers the lowest price. So we drove there to make our purchase. They just gave us a piece of paper to write our name, add, tel no and delivery date. Then that's it. No deposit required! I offered to pay a deposit to secure the order but was politely turned down by the salesperson. He told us that full payment is to be made only upon delivery. Cash or cheque. Yesterday, both items arrived and we issued a cheque. Good hor... don't need to worry about the store closing down or not fulfilling the order after deposit is made. Peace of mind!

    3) Fridge and KDK ceiling fan - Everjoint

Called them to confirm the delivery date of my items. They immediately asked us to make full payment via fund transfer. Offered quite competitive prices for most of the items but I'm the type who's uncomfortable to make full payment before delivery leh. Items less that 1-2k still okie to take the risk... if all my stuff adds up to $3K and above, don't think I will get from them. But my mummy told me that Everjoint is very reputable and long standing company... Brother said no need to worry... Ha! Ha! It just me lah... Kiasee mentality lah...

  6. Realised that I have been very active in other people's threads except for mine... Aiyoh...My tiling has been completed to 95%. Y I say 95% leh? Cos the tilers forgot to tile the flooring of the storeroom! Ha! Ha! I retained the door for the storeroom...the door was closed so they happily tiled everything except the storeroom floor... Henry said that it will be completed by Tues... since it's only a small area...

Just received the 3D for my Masterbedroom... Look very cramped hor... but I want to squeeze in two wardrobes leh... One 7ft and another 4ft... Here's the photo:-

  7. The electricial points are the ones that are worrying us now, because we were pressured to make them by yesterday and we have no idea how it's all going to turn out - just randomly picking spots we think we'll be utilising. Sigh.

I was reading the thread about materials homeowners regret using and it got me kinda worried, especially about how Poh Joo's fixtures all started rusting within months! Will definitely invest in better sinks/toilets, but we've already purchased all the shower fixtures like shower arm, rainshower and mixers. Easy to change all the external stuff like hoses and shower heads but shower arms/brackets will need to be exactly the same size etc, and will definitely need to hack wall to change the built-in mixer. Ugh. Cannot even think about that at the moment.

    Re Electrical points

Yes, it was indeed pressuring when suddenly everyone looks at u asking u where u want to place your 13amp/SCV/Telephone points, the nos required. We were also caught in tension even thou my brother had earlier on advised me to sit down seriously to think of the placement of the respective points. After going one round with the Electrician and Henry, we cldn't sleep at night. Scared not enough points and pondered over the location of the switches and whether the 'casing' will be very glaring on a empty wall. What we did after was to draw out the locations of the study table, Tv consoles, beds on the floor plan to rethink of the 'accessibility' of the points and switches. I also enlarged the floor plan to A3 size and indicated the respective points using red pen. Then we contacted Henry again to arrange for another meetup with the Electrician to confirm the points again. I photocopied the floor plan and gave each one a copy and went thru it again to ensure that we are all on the same page. I also had another drawing just on the downlights so that I can indicate which downlights can be turned on by which switch. It was tedious but we had to do it to prevent any miscoms. Don't be stressed. Just close yourself in a room with the floorplan with no distraction and concentrate on indicating the points on the floorplan. U can do it:)

Poh Joo: My bro bought most of the stuff there. Still working good and well. Just for sharing.

  8. if he tells you not nice, you tell him back that you like it this way... hee hee hee

Marshmallow, sometimes I hear too many 'Not nice' until I a bit buay song leh.. I feel like telling him to draw the 3D according to what he quoted us and not to draw nice nice ones and then tell us to top up this and that leh... People see nice nice pics of course not willing to give up the extras.... But having said that, I still feel that Henry is good and he ensures everything is well communicate be it pricing or measurements before carrying out the work.

  9. Think 'Topping up' is inevitable for most of the reno...I also start to encounter the magic word 'top up' now... Like I mentioned in my blog, Henry said must top up for the black mirror on top of the TV feature wall..Cos the black mirror is not part of the TV feature wall. Then he mentioned that the cabinets on top of the fridge also must top up... He did mention that the two aluminium strips on the TV feature wall also must top up and when my hubby and me stared at him, he quickly added that he will give us the two strips FOC. The only consolation I had was, he usually informed us about the additional charges before carrying out the works. If we don't want, he won't do then he will keep saying not nice.. Kekekeke..

  10. @friends78: Your 3D designs are very cool indeed! Did your ID come up with the ideas or did he/she simply follow your direction? Really looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, and I hope it runs smoothly for you! :)

Henry didn't do much spac planning for us. Cos prior b4 meeting him, my FM has already indicated the respective placement of the major items for the hse. We just told him here must put what and the colours to avoid for the rooms. As for the designs of the carpentry works, it's all Henry's ideas. I also praying my reno to be smooth as I need to move in by Mar 29...If not, the next available good date will be in May.... Your hse is so spacious... Envy :)

  11. Went to meet Henry last nite to confirm on the laminates to use for carpentry work... Today, I machiam like Panda liao... even with the 3D designs, we can spend a good 3hr without drink/food there... U guys can imagine how tired and thirsty we are... He is super 'long-winded'... In any case, we dropped the carpentry work for the study room as I may have plans to shift the cabinets around later on due to fengshui and also budget.... So I will have two rooms untouched... There are a few add-ons required if we were to follow the 3Ds strictly. Notice that there is a mirror on top of the TV feature wall? That black mirror will cost almost $500 hor... Still thinking whether to do it or not.. Also the top cabinets and the plaster board for the kitchen cabinets that were on top of the fridge, there is also top up required...Figure still unknown...If I end my top & bottom kitchen cabinets at the fridge, meaning no cabinets on top of the fridge, will it look funny? Sigh.. it $$$ again..Only to see the figure going up...

  12. i passed by citi light yesterday while walking PA HQ. wah.... that molecule will cost you ard $1k? that is a bit ex leh....

Yah.. ex considering that it's not crystal only glass balls... Not buying yet... still thinking.. Still can't find one below $500 which has the punch .. Still thinking of Nest if really die die stick to budget... Nest only $200 plus niah....

  13. Ya I like this molecules! Anyway LEDs are more expensive and they save electricity in long term. Anyway, thanks for the information.

Btw, saw your house pictures and they are nice

Thanks! Hope the pics can be turn into reality... We may cut a few carpentry work... The effect might not be so nice liao..

  14. hi

Where did you see the molecules lights?? I mean which lighting shop??

Citi light along Jalan B... not cheap.. around $1k for LED I think.. Molecules caught our attention while walking to Royal Fanco... And that's where I discover Big Bulb & Big Apple too... I think I will be getting my kitchen, bedroom lights from them too..

  15. Are u considering the SHARP model???I'm planning to get tt...

Pls post in your blog on the model once u got it so that I can also do research on it and decide.. I have no preference..Only saw Pansonic advertisement in the papers... so thinking of just going to Electronic store and just grab/order one..

i'm using the Panasonic 3-in-1 oven - convection + microwave + steam... precisely becos i have no space on the kitchen top liao!

anyway on my Panasonic oven... it's working very well and i really love it  my parents are using that too (in fact, my dad is the one that recommended this oven to me)

you are interested in the Sharp 3-in-1 one or something? my colleague is using and he said it's quite good.... but his is the higher end one > $1k model~ :)

So Panasonic is good huh? Can let me have the model no? Maybe I get Everjoint to quote yours and the Sharp one that lazybum is recommending... and ask them to deliver together with my fridge.. Now they are so advance! Can just call, order and do fund transfer via internet banking and deliver... Machiam online shopping...

    UP was $180.

So cheap?! It does look expensive.. I thot it will at least cost $200 and above... Yah weekends cannot work...

  17. I luv your artistic basin! Is it ex? Mine is those normal round bowl... On budget so not much variety...

  18. MORE PURCHASES

    OVEN

    KENWOOD MIXER

    ICE CREAM MAKER

HHmm... sound like very fruitful 2 weekends i had getting more and more things for my new home. Oh ya, also went to Robinsons to get Correll plates and bowls. Now i wonder what else i need for my new home. Anyone, any ideas??

Wow... Power... I remembered u saying that you only have bottom cabinets.. Enough to put all the stuff or u intend to place everything on the table top? U bought so many good things so if u have extras while baking or doing your ice cream, please sms me... I 'fly' over to eat... Kekekeke.. I won't be getting any of these but I'm eyeing at one of those Panasonic microwave cum water oven... I'm an instant person; instant drinks, instant mee, soup, ready made frozen food..
