  1. mondo specialises in marble and granite. not sure bout pricing tho....cos ours was under the reno contract - we just went to mondo to choose the tiles they have a showroom in balestier, and factory in senoko.
  2. i think it is a common problem with many people... before signing, they can promise u heaven and the stars; once sign, service level drops. we have some problems too, and certain things tt we ask our id to do, or follow up... either take ages, or not done yet, tho its been weeks... just trying not to dwell on negative aspects, and think positive, cos still have a long way to go. but after the entire reno is over, feel like taking a hammer and knocking the id hard on the head and get all our grievances off our chest
  3. if i wanna move my current bed frame over to the new place, are the movers able to dismantle properly, move it over, then assemble it back?
  4. yeah, we do. in fact, we're also leaving the white carrera marble floor that the previous owner used. only the kitchen and 2 bathrooms' tiles were changed. so we're just going to have the marble polished after all other tiling is done.
  5. just got a few more pics of our WIP furniture... couldn't resist posting this pic of the arm chair... both of us like it for the solid feel hope the real thing is as nice when it's delivered

  13. hi cbearai, how is ur reno progressing? saw in ur post in another thread that u have bought lights, means reno should be up and running! do share the progress of ur reno. u can track ours in our t-blog
  14. hi adrian_john, we're pretty satisfied with the tilers so far. they have been pretty friendly and are of good attitude. hopefully they produce work that's equally good too. heard so much horror stories of bad tiling workmanship. especially when we have homo and marble tiles combi in our house. :| yeah, the solar films are really expensive. unfortunately, it's quite a necessity for us due to the direct west sun and hubby's 'high sensitivity' to heat *sigh* currently, we're sourcing for curtain/blinds/bambo chic makers. any good reccomendations?
  15. hi sohck, below are the findings fm our meeting with jestac and vkool - u can take for reference http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=428638
  16. enquired about solar films for our living and dining rooms, which have almost direct west sun. met up with the consultants fm jestac and vkool today, who came to take measurements, and show us samples of the solar films. the lady from jestac even had a demonstration on how effective the films were in rejecting and blocking out heat. waiting for their quotations, which will be sent to us mon/tues. vkool (i-que) - range fm $5-$20/psf; recommended for direct west sun is the 43FG film ($20/psf) - 99% UV rejection, 98% infra-red rejection, 65% solar energy rejection, 43% light transmission 3M sun control/night vision- range fm $6-$14/psf - the reflective series are the $6/$7 ones; those hv less effective heat rejection, and are reflective in the day, preventing others fm seeing into your house when windows r close. The reverse, however, happens @ night. 3M prestige window films - $14/psf - said to lower rm temperature by 2-5 degrees - recommended for direct west sun PR40 - 99.9% UV rejection, 97% infra-red rejction, 59% solar energy rejection, 39% light transmission we asked the consultants to propose different combinations for the bedrooms and living/dining areas - price range est to be $1000 to $1500 for whole house
  17. thanks all of us here r eagerly waiting to see the outcome of one anothers' houses, i guess. always nice to see transformations of houses, and the nice decors which turn out.
  18. 19. THE TILING SO FAR Kitchen and feature wall feature wall tiles look weird - ID assured us it will be OK after washing and cleaning Entrance foyer MBR Toilet Common Toilet
  20. coke, u're not gg to tile ur kitchen? is that why u chose to plaster it? ur mbr toilet tiles look familiar...i thot i was looking at mine for a moment. think we chose similar or sama tiles
  21. not exactly. the living n dining rooms are fine and concealed. but those in the 3 bedrooms are mostly exposed.
  22. yeah, will be going to the unit tomorrow again to look at the wiring. not much else can be done for the air con though.
  23. ha, don't envy us too much. some parts of our house has low ceiling of 2.1m to cover the irritating beams. I'll watch your thread for the pictures
  24. sohck: i get what you mean. i think your wire management and air con trunking are done much better than ours. wait till i post the pictures of the ugly wiring :S haha we won't get enjoy the sunset together often as hubby usually returns home pretty late. btw, thanks for your invitation for us to visit your place adrian_john: we're still undecided about the common bathroom door. there's a beam, so we couldn't do a one-piece sliding door. we will have shower screen and ventilator fans installed for both bathrooms. probably not going for veneer door because of my way of washing. I like to play with water and splash the entire place wet
