  1. Just to update on the laundry system that I have installed. iEasy (R109 remote control laundry system) with lights Control the movement (up & down) with remote control This is the lowest that it can go
  2. maybe do some homework first by reading through the forum thread, and get some reno idea... most important, read the experience of forummer, and from there shortlist some IDs to start with... floor plan like yours is good enough for ID to quote and design
  3. Week 4 (29 May 09) - patching of damaged parquet the naked floor underneath the hacked wall, as well as wood skirting need to be patched up... now you probably see why i need a platform bed, as the 2 rooms have different design of parquet floor, which is really weird ... so building a platform bed to cover the entire checker parquet
  4. Week 4 (27 May 09) - lighting hmm... not so impressive, no fanciful lights. I have 43 downlights altogether. They have not finished installing yet, still have cove light, dining light, spot light spent $3200 just on lights and fans (43 PLC, 35 cove light tube of different length, 6 spot lights, 1 light for yard, 1 light for store, 1 light for WIW, 3 KDK fans)... wondering whether i paid too much living & dining mbr study room
  5. thanks skyblue... yeah, hope they keep up the momentum
  6. Congrat skyblue, it is really a major overhaul I got the same downlight as you (the one **** and study), also got the same light as your kitchen one, I bought it for yard I like your private balcony, what do you intend to do with it, cozy corner? After all the hacking, did it alter a lot on the floor plan? Can you post the latest floor plan to show the difference...
  7. Indeed, the beam kinda break the view... anyway, it's alright Week 3 (22 May 09) - painting Color plan (ICI Dulux) Living Dining Passage way
  8. carpentry not started yet, lighting will be installed this week... no fancy lighting anyway, mostly downlight, cove light and spot light painting done already, will upload more pic when free
  9. Week 3 (18 May 09) - constructing false ceiling, L-box 20 May 09 - Ceiling seems ready, just need to seal those gaps, whoolala
  10. all will be hidden in the false ceiling/L-box
  11. The wiring for downlight, cove light... light point plan living room mbr
  12. Week 2 (13 May 09) - touch up on the sealed door, and commence electrical work... the new wall seems ready for painting @ @ @
  13. Week 2 (12 May 09) - seal door and smooth out edges of the hacked wall...
  14. The door frame is removed as well... War zone...
  15. Week 2 (11 May 09) - Hack wall, remove door frame and dismantle wardrobe... to make way for big MBR That's it, my wardrobe is gone More spacious and better view after the wall is down 凡走过必留下痕迹。。。 (naked floor beneath the hacked wall, need to patch up with parquet)
  16. Week 1 (4 May 09) - while waiting for PE inspection and management approval, they laid protection sheet, so that can start hacking once approval granted.
  17. hi pinklady and angel, thanks, indeed the original condition of condo is very nice alrdy, hence, we do not intend to spend a lot of $$ on reno. my original quotation is 23k... even if incl lighting and wiring (depends on number of light points), it shld still below 30k as usual, the biggest spending is on carpentry. will post more photo after tidying up
  18. Any wiring work (i.e. light points) and ceiling work (i.e. false ceiling, L-box), as it will be a substantial amount.
  19. My ID quote me $45 for the light point and installation. The price is mainly just for the light point. For those that have existing light point, they will just install the light for me without extra cost. I will let my ID handles everything as he knows exactly which light to be installed where, and the distance between one and another (for the PLC). Also, he can test the wiring work after installation, to see whether individual switch control the correct pair of PLC, cove light, etc.
  20. No worries I called them to check on the opening hours before I go down. Bought a Oceanis Standard hair-dryer (1600W) for $85, a magnifyng mirror with light for $110, and a luggage rack for $65. This is the luggage rack, need it as i am a frequent flyer Not manage to take picture for the wall-mounted hair-dryer and magnifying mirror, as they are still in the box and will be mounted by the contractor when reno is about to complete. Just take note that JVD does not have NETS or credit card facilities. So, please bring enough cash. I learnt the lesson as I have to drive out looking for ATM when I did not have enough cash with me
  21. Sure, will pm you when reno completed...
  22. Thanks, i love renotalk... got a lot of insight info here Yeah, no block from living and mbr. Even though the hdb flat is just across the road, which is just infront of my study room, but because mine is on high floor, so practically no block. The study room (with small window though) is actually facing city. I think we might be able to see fireworks from the study room You are right that we need minimal reno, and we tried hard to keep it below 30k (incl of lightings). The biggest makeover is the master bedroom.
  23. Next is to think of what we want for our love cocoon. We do not intend to spend a lot of money on reno as we already have the basic fixture included in the original condition. We want a big master bedroom, and that was the reason we bought a unit with adjacent rooms so that we can hack away the wall and make it a bigger room. We also want platform bed in the master bedroom, as that will make it very cozy Spending two weeks reading renotalk forum, to have some reno ideas, recommendation and experience of forummers. Got quotation from 4 IDs, and finally sealed our deal with tau design, as recommended in forum, on 2 May 2009. This is the amended floor plan with joining wall and wardrobe hacked. Also with the MBR door and bathroom door change to sliding panel, it makes the room and bathroom look more spacious... I like space Floor plan with Big MBR So, these need to be hacked away, i.e. the wall between BR2/MBR, and the wardrobe in BR2... wasted as the wardrobe is brand new, but can't help
