another shop we found should appeal to the folks here. the hoog shop loacated along sukhumvit soi 49-51 showcases products designed by young thai designers. it's like grafunkt and air but without the pricetag. pics: this chair costs cheapish... can't remember the prices. fell in love with the shelves! managed to capture on film a rift in the spacetime continuum

Satit mentioned that some companies has asked him to mass produce and other companies asked him to maintain quality standards. he personally believes in maintaining a high standard of quality when reproducing his collection. he was also smoking his ciggie like a towkay. in the end we didn't get anything. everything is customised and will take some time. plus there were so many choices available. you can refer to his online catalogue and drop him an email at http://www.hawaii50bkk.com/ as for tips on shopping, i think its best to pick up some thai to get directions, ask for certain specifications and the fun part, to bargain without a calculator!

Welcome to the t-blog. Your balcony tiles look like mine, though the picture is a little too small to ascertain for sure. May I suggest you add the image tags to the beginning and at the end of your photo links, so that the pictures display automatically? Or click on the insert image icon and paste your image link there, so that the image tags are auto added. Makes the reading easier and smoother. This is in SengKang? I think there are quite a few t-blogs with the same floorplan.

Documenting Our Journey Of Our Loveshack

Just say you're meeting a client in BKK. I dunno if it's international warranty, but I have never met anyone who needed to use their warranty for their sanitary fittings. The hotel I stayed in uses a Korean washlet, which is quite good as well. -

other place we went to was boonthavorn. it's like the carrefour of home furnishings, and you can get your floor tiles, laminates, cement, wood, taps, everything all at one place. prices are definitely much better than SG. check out the price for the grohe bauline series: THB$1500 is roughly SGD$60. But please note that the made in germany prices do not differ much from SG.... before the in-store discount. we saw a minta grohe kitchen mixer for a really attractive price, but settled for the eurosmart series instead, also at a good price. Got a few Ledino Philips lights too. The only major stumbling block is the language problem. hardly anyone in there speaks english but if u make the effort to speak in their language, they will go all out to help you out. we were really touched when they took effort in trying to understand us, helping us with our purchase decisions, and even going to the main road to call a taxi for us in the rain. thai hospitality beats the ones in balestier anytime. boontharvon has many branches, the one closest to the city is located between sutthisan and ratchadaphisek stations. walking distance too.

first stop we went to was to Hawaii 5-0 at Thonglor. It's less of a showroom, more of a storeroom. Something like the 2nd hand section of Lorgan's. But the selection and pieces were quite outta this world. If you're a fan of kooky pencil leg furniture or have an afro from the 70s, Hawaii 5-0 would probably be the place to be. The owner, (Khun) Mr Satit, loves his stuff and many of his pieces are only for display and not on sale. He explains that he's a collector first then runs his business from there. What he can do is ask the factory to reproduce his current collection. Some SG retailers, like 1000 tales, are his clients. When we asked him on the lack of eames' stuff, he pooh-poohed the eameses, saying that they were too proper. here's some pics of the shop. its old and dusty, so wear a face mask. i only took a few pictures as there was not enough walking space there were some pretty good furniture shops located around the area too. tuba furniture, joe's beautiful objects and scandinavian design. But we spent a good period chatting with Satit and his hobbies and by the time we came out, many shops were closed. the furniture shops usually close by 6 pm, so good to take note.

Sawasdee from Thailand! Wifey n I are busily packing our loot from this visit. Aside from the usual chatuchak we discovered that BKK is teeming with affordable furniture, good design and excellent service! We were really impressed with the variety, prices and most of all, classic thai hospitality. I guess they were amused by the Singaporean couple who spoke really bad thai and silly grins. Update more when we settle down.

wah, maus 1 and 2 are so heartbreaking. i read them back in the day and it still haunts me. spiegelman couldn't maintain his standard after maus. i now go for robert kirkman and brian michael bendis. hollywood in a comic, but with a lot more depth and less on the angst. good for you to put in local flavour, but i always feel that some of these architects/designers don't necessarily respect the heritage of the building. they rip the guts out and what remains is the shell. fine and good for some, but its a good piece of history lost. i've advised timothyng27 to look through some old pictures from the national archives to get some ideas. since your apt is at old airport road here're some links i found which may inspire you: http://picas.nhb.gov.sg/picas/public/internetSearch/index.jsp

Yay Ramones! U may want to try Design Practice. Google them and see their portfolio. May interest u. If u want a totally dedicated ID u can try Lloyd Pek. Renotalkers rate him highly as a perfectionist and high QA but may run into some difficulties when meeting timelines. Search for some of his work to find out. He had a circular living room in a 5rm.

Agree that Pakistan mangoes are much better than Indian Alphonsos. The anwar ratols are the best. bought it off some roadside fruit seller when i was in lahore a few years back. now still able to secure but a lot more expensive now. Am heading to Dhaka next week. Yes. i am a snakehead from a well known chinese triad.

I think I have not seen any pictures of your kitchen yet! But I noticed you have a bottom freezer fridge! Which is exactly what I was looking for. Is this the Hitachi R-S37SYPS?? If not, which brand and model issit? How is it so far??? Also what model is your oven? Looks like a Bosch but I may be wrong.
