Floorplan originally from HDBCurrent Floorplan (Previous Owner Design)
- MBR toilet door relocated
- Storeroom was hacked away
My desired Floorplan
- Relocate back MBR Toilet door
- Hack and construct back store space for walk-in wardrobe
Some Comments received
- Meng Design commented that shower screen in MBR toilet could be too narrow
- Urban Design recommends to build cabinet with DOORS in my walk-in wardrobe
- Deco Mark suggests to build false wall for walk-in wardrobe instead of soild wall
- Many folks saw my design, immediately qns posted is "You siao arh! 2 ceiling fan in your LR, r u sure?" I replied, YES! =)

Hi dannywmpThanks for the warm welcome! Ya, we will have to wait for the FSM to audit and then we can see where things are placed and have a better idea what to buy. Right now, I'm in the sourcing mode where I will note down things I like
I dun intend to get something too big for w/m so 6 or 6.5kg will be fine for me. I also feel $729 is expensive but seems like everywhere I go (Best, Harvey Norman etc) they say front-loaders best go for european brands and european brands are the expensive one lor. Have seen an LG directdrive front loader and is interested in it but also not cheap leh. So am still considering while I still have time. Ultimately I need something which is electrical and water efficient and slightly pricey is still acceptable.
I just saw a Panasonic S class 42" LCD in Best going at $999 yesterday and love it. But too soon to order so hopefully price will lower even more by the time I go ahead to buy
Have given up on roomba, "boss" says no so cannot lor! I have one exisiting vaccum cleaner which has pretty strong suction power, will be bringing it to the new house.
Hi,
I bought my Samsumg 7.5kg Made in Korea model from HN at around $800 (with 3 years ext. warrenty) so far we are happy with the performance. Although not as silent as LG directdrive but the washing is really clean...Europe brand, just make sure that they are really made in Europe...not just the brand...cheers
You are right...TV should be the last things to buy...every 3 months IT show and every month different place having storewide discount...and not forgetting latest model in market every now and then...with $999, in 3 months time you can get the next higher range of model or same model with lower price...

Lighting Points LayoutThis is one area i had scrutinised and thought over and finally came up with this.
Im not sure if this lighting plan is excessive or otherwise, hence hope i can get feedbacks on this.
As per the floorplan layout: Living / Dining Area
- The yellow rectangular lines are the cove lights in warm yellow.
- The blue rectangular lines are the cove lights in blue (or maybe black light ala CSI style, Lol)
- The red cross thingy between the blue cove will be my ang ang ceiling fan
- The small circles along the walls throughout will be my downlights (13w each is enough right?)
- The grey rectangle near the wall will by my single split aircon
Kitchen
- 2 ceiling lights, one near entrance/fridge and another near sink/washer
- 1 small circular light near laundry area
- Cove lights under top kitchen cabinets along both side of walls
Bedrooms
- The greyish circles in the rooms are my ceiling fans
- 3 downlights each on L-shaped L-Box in the 2 bedrooms (probably using 13w warm yellow)
- 2 downlights along one wall for the room intended to be my study cum gaming area (18w daylight for this)
- Cove lights under the top wall hung cabinet in the study
- Cove lights along the L-box in the study
The rest (toilets / store room) are self explanatory and using normal ceiling lights.
Any advises much appreciated! Too much cove lights? (I know some will ask if necessary, but me and wife like cosy ambience). Downlights too little? Whats the ideal wattage for a room? I think 35w in total is enough.
Just some comments on your lighting plan and hope you don’t mind…just that I am giving a more practical aspect to consider…
1)Kitchen – shift your first lighting toward the cooking area and the other further down to your wash area and you can save on the circular light. I see that you installed cove light at the cooking area, no doubt is nice to have but I doubt you will turn it on very often for cooking…and usually your hood will have halogen lighting bright enough for cooking.
2)Living Room- do you consider ceiling fan with light fittings? You really have a lot of cove lights, are you not worry of creating a cozy place for insect…cobweb lizard etc…do u think you will do some reading in the living room area, if so decent white light will be more practical. Will you consider having L-box with down light instead or buy some special effect light to create the cosy ambience effort (the philips LED lights with different combi colours
)
3) MBR…where is your position of your bed? Is the fan above the bed? I ever consider having this arrangement but later drop the idea as me and wife though is not so good to have direct wind blowing on us and it look scary to have something rotating above me when I am sleeping…hahaa
4)For study room, Cove light, is it bright enough? Again…is about the… cobweb and lizard. Ceiling fan can create shadow effort when rotating, can be irritating to eye when reading…
5)Last but not least…consider how you want to control the lighting…one switch to control how many lights…watch your electrical bill.
Mine is also a 4 room and I find my lighting installation bright enough for me…you might want to check out my t-blog…on my lighting plan…
Cheers…

hi danny,thanks for the welcome!
im still deliberating on the philips 42pfl9664 LCD..
courts and HN said its a discont set and promoted to me the 42pfl8404H..
but i like the sleekness of the 9664...only found out that best denki at IMM still selling
but at $2499...the sales guy said im better off getting LED at that price which i still have not quite fancied though...
hope the IT show will have this model...Grrrrr...
Hi buddy,
The 42pfl9664 LCD is still in your shopping list hah…Great! but if u are considering something bigger and having more budget, someone is selling the 52fl9664 LED. Check out the buy/sell forum.
The spec is the same or better and it is a backlit LED TV…
I don’t think Philips discon the model just that local dealer is not bringing it in as the price is costly. Philips come out with the 42pfl8404H because they want to capture the LED market to compete with Samsung and other brands…
I think 42pfl8404H is a good buy for a LED model but function wise 42pfl9664 still more outstanding…
Ya…maybe can wait for IT show next week; hopefully they will clear stock of 42pfl9664 or aim for the display set. But advisable to go on the first day if u are really keen.
Cheers...

I have been reading and benefiting alot of information and ideas from Renotalk though I have not got the keys to my unit. As a typical kiasu singaporean, I am already looking out for reno information. Our unit is a 4rm reasale in Sengkang and our first appt will be 19 April (long story as to why we have to wait so long for the appt)...so estimate completion will be somewhere around end May. We will be getting a FSM to audit the house and after which we will start the reno process. No floor plan at this moment (so sorry) but we shall be purchasing it pretty soon and will upload it once available. As of today, what hubby and I have decided that the works we will be doing to the house will be as follows:
1) Dismantle exisiting kitchen cabinets and constructing new cabinets with soft-closing hinges and blum or blum alike systems.
2) Kitchen door (optional, depending on the damage to the budget)
3) replacing MBR and common toilet doors and do shower screen
4) constructing MBR toilet vanity area and small vanity area for common toilet
5) build-in wardrobe /cabinet for MBR, child bedroom and study room.
6) replace main gate and change lock for main door
7) wallpaper study room (still considering as hubby need the room to teach music so need to do a little soundproofing)
8) constructing cabinets at the bay windows at the MBR and child bedroom
9) roller blinds for 3 rooms and living room
Right now, I am looking out for furniture and electrical products that we are interested and keeping a note so that when we get down to do the purchase, at least we know what we want.
Wishlist for now
1) Indesit front loader IWB 6085 EU 6kg - $729 @ Mayer
2) Panasonic 3-in-1 microwave oven NNGS597MYPQ~SILVER - $499 @ Gain City
3) Panasonic Refrigerator NR-BT262 - $499 @ Gain City or NRBU302SSSG~SILVER - $599 @ Gain City OR
4) Sharp Refrigerator SJD26SSL~SILVER - $449 @ Gain City or SJD30SSL~SILVER - $489 @ gain city
5) Samsung or Panasonic 32" or max 42" LCD TV
6) Roomba irobot (i LOVE but hubby and family is persuading me to drop the idea)
Congrats on getting your house...if you are getting FSM to audit your house, must as well hear what he comments first before buying or ordering any furniture...
6Kg for front loading quite small wor...and at $729 is not cheap...consider other brand like samsung or LG...same price will probably get a 7.5Kg...
For LCD if it is for living room, go for 42"...will not be wrong. The price also not much diff.
Haha...Roomba irobot, I agreed with your family dun buy...a nice to have toy but not very practical and it will sooner or later end up in the store-room.
Spend the money on a good vaccum cleaner that has strong suction power...

Hi, how's MexicoThx, I like my toilet alot too
Thanks to my dear hubby the wonderful designer
All carpentry done by Classic. We did not use Henry for any carpentry work
As for the gas stove, keke, yes, I insist on it cos my mom will come over once a while so must make sure she know how to cook while she's here mah, wait she give excuses say don't know how to cook without seeing fire, then I'll be missing all my mom's nice nice food kekekek
My kitchen also open mah, you got hood? Don't care lah, just fried lah, can clean up later... more impt to please the wife ...
How's Vitro ah? Is there a reason why you choose that instead of induction?
Mexico Guadalajara...5th time here and believe it or not only went to the town square once...reason my hotel is at hill top and not very conv to move around further more not safe to move around alone.
Cooking is not a problem it is the cleaning and mostly washing and cleaning done by my wife...so she also say better not fried...hahahaa
Vitro...I find not bad...heat up fast too but I think not as fast as induction. But pro side...it can use any cooking pan....I mean the material not like induction die die must be steel surface.

hi, how much did u pay for your smaller TV console & where u bought from?how to mount the TV onto the console?
i like to get 1 like this for my MBR.
I bought mine from Sliver river @ $299 before GST...
The mounting is the hang on type meaning the console comes with a bracket that you screw on the back of your Tv then you just hang it on the stand (sliver colour) of the console...
not sure whether the stock still available or not...go check out at their showroom...
cheers
