  2. Haha... sorry, it's not that I'm excited about it. Just that I was using my mobile to post, and somehow it sent the request 7 times. Was trying to delete the posts, but the best I could do was just delete the text.
  3. I've been staying with my family in sengkang. Now that I'm getting married, I'm moving out into...Sengkang! I enjoy the quiet surroundings. Just wish that there's a cinema here, though.

  11. Haha... good point. It's about priorities, I guess. And I'll be accountable to my other half, so no impulsive spending sprees In fact, I've added my aim to do minimal reno in my signature, to remind myself! Great to see all the nice homes in Renotalk, I enjoy looking at so many interior design ideas. coffee_o, where have you moved to?
  12. I've just signed my 1st Appointment and will collect collect keys from the seller mid-Oct. One of the attractions of this 5'I' apartment is the fact that we don't have to do much reno work, because it's actually move-in condition, with tasteful built-in features. Will add a few things to this well-kept resale flat like a lighting fixture, some glass doors, perhaps a built-in bookcase in study room, and so on. The rest is just furnishing (which I enjoy shopping for, immensely). I like clean lines in furniture, put together with eclectic pieces to set them off. Here's the floorplan, to start the ball rolling: Checklist of things to do, coming up!
  13. Yours has started leaking? wow, must be quite troublesome. Is itc normal for bathtubs to start leaking after a while, or is it just the way your contractor did it? My bathtubs never leaked in my past homes.
  14. Here I am, reviving the old Sengkang thread. Moving into Anchorvale mid Nov, collecting keys mid Oct. Yup, bought my flat from the resale market. If there are any other Sengkang residents out there - including residents-to-be - just hop on it!
  15. Hi guys I just bought a resale, about 7 yrs old. Would like to keep existing fittings intact if possible, so as not to overspend. The rainshower head is made chrome, and it's covered with this tarnish that looks white in colour. You know, how some old taps and stainless steel products look like. No brown stains (rust), just this white-ish dirt. How do I clean this? Any cleaning tips from you guys? Thanks!
  16. hi coffee and sengkang_newbie haha, guess what, i AM staying with my parents in anchorvale right now. my fiance and i bought our own flat, also in anchorvale - we're moving in mid Nov. quite close by to you, newbie. I'm moving to 306 it's kind of inbetween Compasspoint and the Swimming Complex, walkable distance to both, which I like. yeah, i like anchorvale. close enough to central, close to YCK rd. i'm SO looking forward to the new wet market opening in Dec!! how about you guys?
  17. hi rondy i may not be able to make it in Oct, cos my wedding's actually coming up at the same time I'm getting my flat! Maybe sometime next year. so if i miss the Impact fair you're talking about, where are the stores or places I can get a tree coat stand like that? or other equally cool furniture? your stuff looks good, i like them!
  18. Hi everyone, I'm considering Hokkaido as one of my options for honeymoon. BUT my wedding is on Dec 28, and I'm most likely travelling in the first week of Jan 2010. I heard that it's deathly cold in Hokkaido because of winter, and that the Japanese practically shut down for business in the first week of Jan because of New Year. Is this true? How cold is cold during that period, and do they really shut down where I'm going? When, then, is a good time to go to Hokkaido. I'm in love with their hot springs, fresh seafood, and traditional Japanese inns!
  19. Hi, I lived in Melbourne for about 3 years, just a few years ago. When my relatives visited, I booked this serviced apartments called Quest Hero (http://www.questhero.com.au/). This is in the heart of the city. Now, what I did was I bargained for a rock-bottom price on the phone, telling them I always referred friends whenever they visited Melbourne. It was a cheaper alternative for my relatives because 1) there were more people staying together (about 5) 2) Hero charges better rates for longer stay (can be negotiated) I've inspected those rooms, and even had friends who rented long-stay homes at Hero. These are premium-looking apartments with bedrooms, living rooms, and a kitchen. Depending on what you need. You can find out more by giving them a call, I guess. It's been a long time since I was last in Melbourne. Check out their website for details.
