Reno day 26My laundry sink in the service yard. Thought the tap looks a bit cheapskate. I paid $970 for the whole setup. Confirm chop carrot.
We're confirmed moving next Friday.
Yah. Your tap is very cheapskate... probably about $50. I got this one (RAF) which I think is quite worth the price, only $120 but very solid, from Italy.
I am also moving in next Friday, supposed to be today but various delays.

u got the same sink as me,just that mine is under mount.rondy, don't make him upset lah

Hi TYM,I don't disagree with you but prefer to wash our dishes with hot water. Usually, my maid will rinse with hot water and after washing, she will "soak" the disher in hot water for a couple mins. We are so use to it already so no choice.
actually i think you got a steal.. ikea good sinks cost only $300
i was looking at other sinks like duravit, paravil, etc. costs almost $1000
i nearly bought one but my wife disagreed

thanks.as we did not engage an ID we had to do the matching ourselves. so we went for the safe colors. even that, we were afraid it'll turn out bad but glad that it turned out ok. now worry whether the furnitures will match.
my laminate flooring is from kronotex, dynamic series.
good flooring
initially wanted to get kronotex or pergo but decided to choose robina due to excellent water resistance
when my flooring was done, i asked the flooring guy to give me one wastage plank (partial plank) which i soaked (the non-cut side) in water for 2 days. no bloating
maybe next time i soak the cut side in water to see how much it can bloat
cut side soak water sure to bloat, imho.

the following is some sharing from my experience with sun sun glass and besglas
my personal experience is that besglas quote low before site measurement, but charge higher after site measurement. this doesn't make sense because you already paid deposit based on the low quote but have to pay higher after site measurement since deposit is secured. so to me, it seems like they're baiting with low quote and after you pay deposit, they charge higher due to whatever reasons. i was quoted $x for doing my kitchen door, after site measurement, it became $(x+180). i made noise and they dropped down to $(x+120).
sun sun glass email quoted me low but after site measurement quoted me high, but price is negotiable after site measurement as deposit not paid yet. deposit is only paid after site measurement upon confirmation. hence you can still bargain the price down before you pay deposit. for me, i was quoted $y via email for doing my shower area but after site measurement i was quoted $(y+200). after bargain, became $(y+50) then agreed and paid deposit.
sun sun glass quoted me lower than besglas for shower area, and besglas quoted me lower than sun sun glass for kitchen so i just ask sun sun glass to do my shower area and besglas to do my kitchen.
both sun sun glass and besglas did site measurement at the same time but sun sun glass installed 9 days after, besglas wants me to wait till after CNY.

From the above pics, can see which 2 doors bigger and which 2 smaller? The space on the left of the stove, i have wanted to put my microwave. Now dun even know whether a small one can fit ina not.
Even if can fit, it will be very very close to the stove/fire.
Maybe it is not obvious from the picture becos i took the pic at an angle.
left one looks bigger from the pic

was informed by minimalis of Hansgrohe promo
Just dropped them an email and they got back rather promptly, there is a storewide 25% disc for Citibank card holders from now till end-March. Sounds like a good deal! smile.gif -
hi I read somewhere you were talking abt yr parquet flooring...The workers just grind n polished but the skirting are still old, dented, scratches and quite dull. so diff from the floor. My I'd said that is the best they can do for my skirtings. Is tat true?
to grind and polish floor, they just use a machine. it's fast.
to grind and polish skirting, you need a handheld driller, with sanding and smoothing pads. it's slow. would eat too much into their profits

Welcome to RT!
Wow you must be rich to approach all those famous IDs with a 60-80k budget.
Your place looks pretty new so unless you're having a complete makeover with premium toys, it shouldn't cost that much.
Have fun in your reno journey and try not to be a carrot
edit:oops that's your previous house, my bad
-
Bro ... since page 21 till now.. ur RENO BILL still the same $8840.21????Sure or not... so DIRT cheap meh?
Mine anyhow here and there already costed me about $30k without those toys
erm that reno bill of 8840.21 only includes all the hacking, wetworks, walls, plastering, tiling, painting. does not include carpentry (as total items not completely purchased yet), electrical+plumbing (which i already listed separately), glass works (as total pricing not confirmed yet), door works (total pricing not confirmed yet). 8840.21 only includes the hacking by 1st contractor, paying the 2nd contractor for labour cost, raw materials and tiles. the rest of the cost for items purchased you can see in my signature
Something to warn u before you regreted...Please try to use a white tape to mask the screw thread of the fan light cover screw as the rotating motion can cause it to vibrate and eventually cause the screw HEAD to loosen and then the WHOLE glass cover will drop.
I was advised by my own client who installed the baby fan before accident happens which happen in the middle of the night and shocked his baby boy.
ooo i see. is this for the baby fan or the alpha v6 or both?
thanks for the advice!

received news that my MBR shower glass will be installed tomorrow!
ordered 1x PJ OEM sink from Poh Joo $150 600x460 thinking it can fit into my toilet but it's too big
there was a bulge in the middle so it can't fit into my toilet... don't think i can sand it down to fit
added PVC bottom trap $2, total $152 (no pic as not installed yet) will install this in MBR, buy already have to use
guess this means i have to wait for Crizto to replenish their stock for 590x460 sink. the supplier said it'll come in next week.
my plumber will come in on thu or fri. movers will move my furniture on fri morning. ikea RD will come on fri morning too. it'll be crowded on friday
hope all things go well
no news from besglas yet on the installation. should be next week, if what they promised me initially is true.

Now comes the saddest part of this whole renovation.I was so happy last night after seeing the lightings.. but the happiness is shortlived.
Regret..... (1)
I chose postform for my kitchen top instead of solid surface because postform uses wood and laminate and there are more colours to choose from.
But i forgot that postform top canno tdo undermount of sink.
I am dissapointed. My mum also. Very dissapointed.
Dunno whether is it Contractor told me before but i forgot or they gave me the wrong info.
Regret..... (2)
Postform uses laminate. So for my L-shape cabinet, there is a need to paste 2 seperate pieces of laminate and there is a joint line. I was told about this but i forgot about it. The line is obvious because my top colour is near white.
Another hiccup:
My 3D drawing has 3 doors for the bottom cabinet. But the carpenter did 4 doors, i dunno why. From an angle, it seems 2 of the doors are smaller in width compared to the rest. Can't confirm this becoz the workers workingon the cabinet and i can't get close enough to see...
Haiz....
bro. postform is much cheaper than solid surface. i hope you got some kind of discount. my ikea postform is only $95 for 8ft. solid surface is at least $75 pfr or $600 for 8ft, 6 times difference in price.
as for the doors, i agree with Mickey, clarify it asap.

Actually, I was probing over this previously. Then decided to let it touch the ground. Asethetic wise, I feel it looks better to be in line with the WC's water tank. Lower than the tank is okie, especially if the bidet can be less visible. Higher than the tank I feel is not so nice.Anyway, my plumber's advice was should not be higher than the tank. But I made the decision la.
nowadays the WC's water tank can be high or low. the ideal height should be below shoulder height when seated on the toilet bowl.
Wow, your plumber, kopi's and ossify's plumber very good, they give gd adviceenvy
I think both ossify and my bidet are the same length and his plumber had initiate to install the starting of the bidet at a higher height, hence his does not touch the floor whereas for mine, it was install below the water tank (starting point ), therefore my bidet "manage" to touch the floor. Haiz, I think I will use it first , when it get dirty then I will buy a shorter "pipe" to replace it, hopefully I do not need to change the whole set.
Save money and energy to
yes actually bidet length is standard (unless you want to cut cost or spend more). mine is installed higher because i have a pipe that's going up to my heater anyway. if yours is installed higher, it will require more pipe and need another connector. most plumbers try to do the required work with minimal pipe and connectors to maximise profit margin. if you get a shorter pipe, it may not be as easy to use the bidet. better to ask your contractor to raise the starting point and add a nice stop-cock. my cube shaped stop-cock costs $10 from GR Link.

My parents' aircon pipe also can be lifted up. I don't know is this the norm or not.Reno mates, pls advise on ur aircon piping.
My parents' aircon drainage pipe is elevated, about 2 inch off the ground, just hanging at the wall side.
My own house aircon drainage pipe is concealed so can't see it. But there is a tile I can remove to access it.
Silicon crack due to expansion too....dun worry, just need to re-fill the bonding.....remember to ask them to put more "mass-bond" inside, silicon is for the outer side........if it's a fine scratch or pin-holes.....use a marker-pen( in your case a light-brown color type) and roll over it....it will not be noticeable then....try it!
Buy wood putty from Daiso at $2, some painters caulk (dunno the price but it's very useful to seal any form of gaps) and use a wood marker pen (Daiso sells too) to colour it

Isn't Cotton White also White?I choose the colour Cotton white, thinking it will be a "warm" white and it will blend in with my off white capentry in the living & dining room. But to my "horror", I realised its far from white. Hubby said its alright and does gives the house a "homely" and "warm" feel. I am not so sure... Here is a photo of the bomb shelter door which is white verses my wall. The difference is quite obvious. Let me know what you think
Told Dennis, my contractor cum ID that I am so shock by the colour. I ask him why he didn't call me when he saw the colour. He thought I knew it will be such a colour. I ask him if I can change the colour even though everything were painted. He got a shock, but agreed if it was really that bad. Actually it is really not that bad. The colour grows on you. Also, I am not an unreasonable person. At the end of the day, I am the one who choose the colour, so no one else to blame but me
my house is also cotton white
it's actually off-white. slightly beige i think. i chose it to match my flooring.
so... why did you choose cotton white?
-
hi again.....just to reconfirm that we hd the same door maker......the aluminum doors & tempered frost glass hv great quality but not the door-lock sets.....
.....
wah besglas shouldn't use crappy locks... what a waste of a good product
-
Yeah trying tothere is a debate between the supplier and ID on whose fault; was it not install properly causing the WC top part not resting on the bowl nicely or was it a problem with the WC. Both Supplier and ID are contacting each other on the issue, since they are experience in this line, they should have their way to settle the problem ;p *as long as i don't need to bear the rectification cost, I ok
*
poor hubby was sandwiched btw the 2 pro initially...
Hope that the 2 pro can settle it swee swee for me
Today my flat was painted, painter say have not settle yet 1 more coat to go.
Question: Should the finishing line between 2 colours be straight straight or should it be wavy (I did not plaster my wall)? Or was it due to, painter have not finish their job, the lines will be straight after touch up? Advise please
supplier and ID both don't want to bear responsibility, quite common
finishing line must be straight straight. ask them use masking tape, don't play punk.

hi ossify .. read u had a missing part on your V6, so did u got replacement?Looking forward to see your white V6 .. i passed by Hans ytd & they've the black ones.
still waiting for my lights & fan .. no luck scouting ard. Guess I'll wait till March then.
Looks like you may need to replace the chipped glass.
My recent IKEA purchase is the LOCK ceiling light (an all times favourite)
my white v6's had missing parts so it can't be installed. called the company i bought from, said they will call me once agent sends them the parts. hope it'll be soon. my dining area needs ceiling fan
as of today, agent doesn't have stock in yet. maybe i should call the agent directly
i think it's rather crazy to have to wait 2 months for ceiling fan...
as for the chipped glass, i think i can replace it if i bring it to a glass shop to ask them to fabricate another one for me.. might be costly though. no news from Lena about the compensation, she said she'll do something though
the following are my functional ceiling fans.
fan in mbr, black alpha v6 $270fan in kitchen, colourful baby $240
white one will have to wait.. it's annoying
-
You are really Ikea's BEST CUSTOMER OF THE YEAR already!!!OK I shall give sun sun and beglas a call. Need this top hung sliding glass door for kitchen. :/
ya i know! but i lost my cash voucher and they say don't do replacement of lost cash vouchers
dunno why they have serial number if they can't trace it.
hope you get them to quote you soon! i think sun sun glass is faster so if you can't wait, get from them. besglas seems a bit slow, many they're too popular or their factory too packed with orders
i was told my shower glass from sun sun glass will come in tomorrow! but no news from besglas
-
Hi there,I hope you don't mind me asking whether is it safe for your glass tempered door to be attached to a false wall? My contractor was concern that the weight of my 10mm tempered glass will not "hold" on the false wall, so he actually attached a tempered glass against the false wall and attached the door to the tempered glass.
fftw, this sounds weird... isn't it worse to have the weight of 2 glass pieces on the wall?
anyway i was quoted the following by Sun Sun Glass
1-fixed panel, 0.8m x 2.1m (h) -$225 for 1 pc
got them to do my shower room. very reasonable pricing
oh, i also wanted to add that i nearly got Design Professional to do my reno, but i decided to DIY instead.
