BTW, I'm interested to visit your unit to kaypoh and see for myself the layout leh...will you be ard on Thurs? Heard many stories about how some aircon contractors just want to lay the trunking the most easiest way for them (or shortest thus cheaper for them way). So must insist that they must find a way acceptable to you. Wow tweakmax, your slippers made of copper/silver/gold? This is ridiculous! Slippers also want to take.

So it's really if you want your keys fast you must harass them. For some whom have been calling up HDB now and then to chase for loan letters/dates etc, the loan letter was processed and date given about 2-3 weeks after submitting. I know of one SERS person in Blk E whom received loan letter later than me. And that was after I keep telling her many times that others had letters liao and some had keys & started reno. She was not in hurry initially and she thought that maybe their flat paid up case so is different. Later even Blk B started to get keys so she feel something not right and call them up to ask. Then found out that HDB claim sent letter to her long time ago. Somemore HDB officer can address her by wrong name but quoted correct unit number when they called back about her case! Sushibabe, So if you want faster must chase HDB !! ... then I also can taste the crabs earlier..hee.

I'm in B. I will not be doing feature walls for bomb shelter, tv console etc, rather spent the $ in favour of overlaying toilet tiles and hacking/overlaying kitchen floor tiles (don't like the light bluish colour and texture). But the kitchen wall tiles I should be able to accept. Why dilemma? If you don't like and got budget, then overlay lor. For kitchen, unless you like to flood the kitchen when washing, should not worry about waterproofing/leaking issues etc so can overlay.

Even before Jalan Membina, the Tanglin Halt flats also have such thefts.. in fact one person in SB forum said there was someone whom dressed like a worker whom wandered into one unit while different works was going on (like got aircon/electrician people etc ard). They suspected this fella was trying to see what can be easily taken under the pretence that he is a worker moving stuff. Some lost downlights, cables etc. So family member also must be very alert in order to jaga...

What do you mean by "status updated"? I submitted on 26th Nov night by dropping into the loan application mailbox at HDBHub. Noticed few days ago that online status indicated that I will be notified to take keys of flat in due course. I did not remember what was there so I don't know whether my status considered updated (ie they processed my forms already) or not. Hopefully CraB's previous few emails to hound them for the loan letter made them flag my case as "better chop chop if not get more email hounding....." Well good luck calling...we never managed to get our officer on the phone (office and hp) at all despite many tries at various timings. Left voicemail also never call back one...that's why have to resort to email hounding (we cc the main customer service email together with our officer's) then finally get response.

Yeah, that's fast. Have you decided on your ID/renos? Think mine will be later because I submitted the loan application only on 26th Nov (2 days before the deadline). But that will give me sometime to play catch up on my reno search...

There is nothing wrong is if the RC wants to engage us here but if some of the RC members are stakeholders at shops that they are recommending us to, then I think the indirect 'endorsement' here is not right. So maybe you should ask your friend to check that too.

Wah...sponsored trip, that's nice! But China not much things to buy except 'water goods' and their local fashion/food products. Other items like the normal brands we know are more expensive there. My China colleague went home in july and came back with "paul frank" and "lesportsac" stuff for us.

Hi alister, Me and CraB will try to pop by too. One thing to ask all those overlaying toilets, does your ID/contractor do another waterproofing layer before overlaying the tiles? I did hear before that the cost of the waterproofing is not cheap coz special "cement" is used so this aspect could be why some of you were quoted signifcantly different.

ebing, standard ones should be only mid 100 plus, of course there are premium ones that can cost a bomb and many others that are in-between. Eg the TOTO one that you see advertised in home mags is ~$10K. So betw $150-$10000, you can change according to your budget ehh should be Chrispy's budget.

Ok, the notice to hand in loan application quite short hor. That means I can go bug my officer in early Nov to ask when Blk B will get letter. Ya, orange toilet bowl will look out of place. For me though I have not decide whether I will definately overlay toilet tiles, I can confirm will change toilet bowls to a white one. Any other colours somehow seems to make me feel that it's not sterile enough.... Actually reasonable toilet bowls are only about mid 100 plus, so it is not really that expensive to replace compared with the amount you spent on overlaying.

Ya very exciting to choose and buy hor... Then lagi exciting when you see your bank balance drop and the debts increase! Fridge is on 24/7 so very important to buy one that is cost efficient, and washing machine must check whether both save water and electricity or not. My cousin works in Panasonic, I've asked him whether got lobang but he said staff price only 5-10% off the RRP. He said he know dealer who can give better price as dealer gets bulk from suppliers like Panasonic. If any of you want to compare prices (can be any brand) I can find out from my cousin the contact and give you. Anyway my cousin said don't buy Panasonic washing machines, he said use up lots of water one.

I have a electrical water tank at my current house in the toilet too. I was considering to install a 25L one hidden in the master toilet vanity (what my colleague did) until someone earlier mentioned that as the pipes are already concealed...that means the heater has to be in the kitchen. Will this mean higher electricity usage? Any comments from those undergoing reno? Is this true? You know how HDB is trying to go green with the new DBSS and the Dawson projects. Wonder how much thought have they put into designing our flats regarding this aspect. I'm at them for not giving me holes to put bamboos (how to hang bedsheet to sun with that 3 miserable window-length horizontal poles?? ). This forces me to consider having a dryer which will mean $$$. Then the stupid aircon compressor yard is at a location where the trunking to your bedrooms have to run very far and 'cross' the walkway to get to the bedroom 2/3. Don't they know that the shorter the trunking, the cheaper it will be for us and also will save electricity during usage!! Must ask HDB to subsidise my electricity bills.

Hi all! Nice to see our thread exploding! gadgetman, ya the bedrooms are small compared to older flats. I am not prepared to sacrifice a room to make master room big enough for WIW and due to layout, there are no other walls to hack. So in a way..HDB 'forced' me to save money lor. So you are doing laminated flooring..what brand? zanie98, Me and hubby cannot confirm..may pop by if have time. You people are serious leh...so much food??? We singaporeans: once gather, sure to have makan.
