  1. hi yenzy....beware when u engange a freelance ID who do not have a "physical" showroom or a company registered. I think the every least is to be a registered company, if not, *touch wood*, if anything happen, you really will be on a losing end of the stick.
  2. from my experiences, unless you have knowledge towards renovations, it's better to engage IDs as they will manage the renovation process right from the start. by that i mean, engaging an ID from an ID company. Reaon being, they have their own workers, hence co-ordination between ID and workers will be smooth rather than you engange an ID consultant with your own contractors as it leads to alot of mis-communication between ID and contractor...
  3. wau, zhiz, u have such eagle eyes to spot eh. because of the low number of posts?
  4. why shld it be expensive? Because she used to be from haier living? my experience with her proved otherwise, quite reasonable pricing leh....honest and upfront with the costing. I guess that's the problem with those "famous" ID firms tt targets the "upper class" clients, they have to charge higher to cover their high overheads or they just simply charge higher.
  5. hi hazel, from my knowledge, the previous name for TAIMS was Living Art Interior Design Studio but the owner changed the name recently as she found that there's alot of similar sounding company names around and now they have moved to a new location with a new showroom, i can't remember the road name but it's at siglap area. She used to be the design manager from Haier Liiving, so the standard is there (as seen in my previous photos....hahahha, still very happy with my new place).
  6. Hi all, i was sourcing on the forum prior to my home renovation for a good ID to engage and when i did, i feel that the recommendation from the fourm is limited to the few often named choices. I did met up with 3 IDs from these recommended companies but it didnt work out. I finally went on and engage my friend's ID whereby i had first hand impression of the workmanship etc etc. I am very impressed with my ID and no complaiins even after 2 months after completion. I am just interested to know if anyone engaged IDs or company that's newly setup or that's not frequently cited in this forum? Lets hear of some new alternatives!
  7. mine was all done up for rougly 1 month +, just sharing my experiences with fellow forumers. I was sooo lost initially when selecting ID but my process was relatively stressless (like you) once i found a good ID. Enjoy your process, it should be fun!
  8. hi zhiz, you and i seem to have gone thru the whole rollercoaster ride of getting excited about the new place, to meeting a couple of designers, waiting anxiously for qoutations (some of which never came....hahaha), to eventually being jaded of meeting IDs. hahaha...to me, getting a new place should be an exciting process, which shld be, hence, one really have to find someone who is responsive (to phone calls/requests/demands etc etc) as well as the "clickabilty" (mentioned before but utterly important)!
  9. hi Ve_Ve, welcome to the club, i felt jaded very soon after meeting up with IDs, that's why i only made it thru 3 of them before settling for my ID, whom i felt that i could convey my idea thru efficiently. She's not the "HOT" ID whom everyone is seeking for, but i she takes her time with each client to understand what they want as she did for us. Like many members of the fourms hv pointed out, sometimes, it's just not good enough to look out for famous ID firm or hot ID because at the end of the day, you need someone who can understand what you want or need.
  10. yah, i cant's agree more too. Sometimes, going around looking for ID is very tiring, so i trusted my friend's recommendation (after going to her plc to look at the workmanship) and i just went straight to the recommended ID and since pricing was right, we signed on the dotted line once overall details were finalised. Prior to deciding on my ID, i went thru at least 3 others and some of them, were either too busy to even come back with a qoute (had to wait up to 2 weeks for some) and others just wasnt sincere enough (even though our budget was ~40k, total damage close to 50K becoss of additional stuffs). I think,, important thing is also if you can "click" with your ID and the process would be smooth sailing and relatively hassle-less, like for me!
  11. Hi chan, yah, i love the apartment, one of its own! my fiance's damage is ard 50k, inclusive of carpentry, curtains, cushion seattee, wallpapers etc etc, basically everything u see in the pics, but not furniture, accessories lah. Am sure my ID would work around the budget you have in mind, just contact her and she's patient to work out the details to your requirements. Yah, i understand. I also dont want to appear like i am over-promoting my ID, but i am simply a happy customer showing off my new place.
  12. hi cattylim, of course i wanna show off my fiance's apartment!! hahahaha, these photos r taken by the professional photopgraher and i was given one set of it. According to my ID, the apartment should be featured in the upcoming issue of CUBES!! So looking forward to it! OH, i forgot to mention my ID's name, it's Jael from TAIMS. Hmmm, not sure if can post details, so pm me!
  13. hi luabq, have you found an ID yet? i am quite pleased with my ID hence, dont mind doing free publicity for them. my ID even engaged a profesional photographer over to take some photos, according o my ID, the photos shld be out in mags soon! My fiance apartment is at east coast road and the workmansip is really good and there's 1 yr after-sales service, but been months, no problem so far. my ID was patient and willing to listen to my input as well since i am quite picky about certain areas, like the bedroom! my ID delivered on time and was prompt in doing any rectifying works when needed. i am sure my ID can do a good job with your resale condo! i have got photos if you are keen (trying hard to show off my new place!!)
