  1. There are stains on my false ceiling (those using the white plaster boards). What is the name of the white paint to get ? I brought a sample piece of the ceiling board to the paint shop so the guy can look at the color, but the guy said he needed the exact name of the white, he cannot use the sample I brought him. Does anyone know what name is the white paint (for ceiling plaster board) ?
  2. Or use nail polish remover for small stains.
  3. Can we do the polishing ourselves ? Buy a Black and Decker Sander and stick in a sand paper ? I see that's that the Solid Top people do. But I don't know what grade of sand paper to use ... any ideas ?
  4. Avoid IMM unless you live nearby or are able to take the MRT there. You will have to visit the ID many times and parking at IMM is a nightmare.
  5. Renovation IDs are generally quite creative and competent in their designs. However, from personal experience, they are not good on schedules. Before you sign anything, insist on a drawn up schedule showing what is to be done each week. Match the works to be done with the list of works you give to the ID. Insist on a delay penalty if works are delayed beyond handover date. These days, there are many condo projects coming up including Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World . The IDs are usually able to keep their design schedule since this is within their control. But the IDs cannot keep their sub-contractors schedule, eg carpenters, tile works, electrical works etc. The sub-contractors are very tied up in other mega projects and will give lowest priority to your peanuts renovation. In my recent renovation, I overheard the carpenter talking on his hp that he has to work overnight till the next morning. That's how busy they are. My carpentry works was delayed 2 weeks. You'd be surprised, the sub-cons workers are almost always Malaysian workers who commute across the causeway each day. To avoid the traffic jams, they will come across around 11am , not 8am. When they do come to your place to reno, they come at 12noon, drop their tools and have lunch first. Then they pack up 3pm-4pm to go to another site to work where they can work late nights (unfinished condos or unfinished MBS for example). Insist on a printe schedule with penalty clauses for missing datelines.
  6. I have an under sink water filter. The inlet to the water filter is a 3/8 inch flexible tubing. The outlet is to a supplied thin faucet mounted above the table top. How do I connect the filter inlet to the main water pipe. I know I need an adapter or something --- what do you call it and where can I get it ? What does it look like . Can anyone post a pic ?
  7. I am looking for a cascading water wall -- black material about 6 feet long and 3 feed high. Any idea where to shop and the approximate price ?
  8. I am moving into a resale place which already has a system-3 aircon. The Fan Coil Units are not very nice looking and a bit moldy but the compressor looks in good shape. Does anyone know if I can just replace the 3 fan coil units + piping without replacing the compressor ? Either same model or different model of fan coil unit ? Gain City saleman said it cannot be done --- the pipe fitting is different, the gas pressure is different, the gas is different etc. He wants to sell me the entire system-3 again. Any air-con contractor able to do what I want ? including re-locating the FCUs to different positions in the house?
