  1. I own a sys 3 inverter air-con.

Can I off my main switch to save electricity when not in use?

Or does it have to be on standby at all times?

10 years ago, I remember my air-con technician telling me to leave it on standby 24/7 to prevent it from malfunction.

    But that was a non-inverter.

    Please advise.

I off he main switch of system 1 inverter daikin when not in use as read in this forum --save electricity save $$$

    so far so gd....

??? will malfunction in long run?

  2. if your place water pipings have isolation valve for each of the area, then it will be much easier. just turn off each area and monitor the meter.

other than pipe leakage... other possiblities include WC water pump, WC & taps water inlet pipes etc.

otherwise, you can consider getting a licenced plumber to detect concealed pipe leakage. there are some special equipment to detect such leakage.

can check out http://www.plumbing.org.sg/home_svcs.htm for estimated charges.

    hi thx

checked WC water pumb, taps, etc - all seemed ok, no leaking

only WC- spray/hose leaks a bit after usage but that stops

daily, when nobody's home & no water is being used , water meter runs 0.007 cubic meters (12 hrs approx.)

    is that ok?

so far no water seepage marks/rings/ discolorations on walls & false ceilings

    thx

  3. Hi, my flat is a corner unit, where one of the bedrooms and the living room windows faces west. In the afternoons, the afternoon sun heats up the wall and the retained heat is tremendous... you cannot basically sit in that bedroom unless u have the aircon on. The living room similiarly gets alot of heat coming through the windows.

Also the living room faces a school's play compound.

Is there any tips and ideas on how to reduce the noise level from the school? As well as heatproof the wall of the bedroom with maybe wall-paper? Will wall-paper adhesive withstand daily heat? Or should i have to put in a false wall as a means to put some insulation between wall and room?

    tx...

only way to reduce noise from outside is to close / seal off the windows from my experience,

  4. I finally wrote to HDB last week and after much to-ing and fro-ing, this was their reply:

"Our Technical Department has no objection to your proposed replacement of the louvred windows with fixed glass panels. However, we would like to highlight to you that by doing so, the natural lighting and ventilation to the rooms will be greatly reduced."

    So, in other words...can!

    hi

hdb told me b4 cant seal up windows at corridor ; fire escape problem

100% confirmed in writing from hdb can seal up your corridor winddows with glass blocks?

  5. I had good experience with SG Bros Entrepreneurs -

Reasonable charges though they had to handcarry all my stuff two floors to lift access. They managed to finish within 2 hours from point A to point B, careful packing with thick covers and transparent film. Run by a team of efficient young man so they got strength haha. Packed unusual things like large marble tops and paintings. and dismantle my wardrobe and re-assemble it at new place effortlessly. Heard they are v good with fish tanks supposedly. Provides wrapping papers and bubble wraps for fragile things.

Call Au, Head of Ops at 82828207 or Sales, Paul 82822323

    how were their rates?

    TIA

  6. another alternative is to borrow hammer drill from IKEA

they provide this service free of charge.

you just require to give them $100 deposit and they will return it back once you finish using it.

no need to buy expensive drill to drill one or two hole only

    :D

    really ? thx

rentals are hammer drills ? thinking of hanging ikea big wall mirrors...
