Contractor quoted me about 37K for doing up my kitchen, 3 toilets, piping, rewiring, main door, gate, balcony window grill, Aircon for 4 rooms, capentry works. This excludes toilet and kitchen accessories. He will bring me down to geylang to choose wall and flooring tilesfor toilet and kitchen, toilet bowls and basins. Here are some of the photos of the existing condition of the flat.
Will be keeping the living room tiles as it is still in good condtion. Same goes for the staircase.
Have purchased a 6+1 dining table. Hmm... hopefully it is not too cramp to put in my dining area as i will be placing a shoe rack there too.
A view of my balcony area with the ugly rubbish chute. We intend to deck up the balcony to be leveled with our living room. This will be in the least of my priority. Will do it if I still have budget left.
Tearing down the whole kitchen. My new kitchen will be in white and black.

Just completed my second appointment yesterday, therefore decided to start this t-blog here for your valuable comments and suggestions. Today PUB is going to turn on my tap and the renovation will start tommorrow. Wish me luck. Let me first start by posting my layout here.
The only thing I don like about this flat is that the rubbish chute is located in my balcony.

Actually it is in a package, what if this includes waterproofing. Is it still expensive?

Hi,
Can anyone advise on whether is it expensive to lay toilet's flooring and wall tiles for $850 excluding material. For a area of about 2.5 sqm. This excludes hacking also. Thanks.

Thank you mysweetlittlethings

Hi,Nope. There's no cover for my balcony. And it is exposed to rain, but not to worry cos no matter how heavy the rain is, the most it will just wet up only 1/3 of my balcony area. Even if i left my cloths out there to dry, it wont get wet too.
Did you waterproof your tiling at your balcony?

Hi,I think all their hobs can connect to both LPG and piped-in gas (i.e. City Gas), but if you have a model in mind can double check with them
Okay. Thanks.

Have a friend who is a teacher, she says some students nowadays have no respect for the teachers at all (especially mother tongue teachers), because mother tongue isn't one of the core subjects...I agree if the kids comes from english-educated family they won't be bothered with mother tongue if the notion goes through...
Yah nowadays parents are too protective to their kids. My wife is a teacher too, luckily she is teaching in a convent sch, so must of her students are still quite obedient.
Yah some parents already have the mindset that mother tongue is not important.

Hi all ,need ur help here , my master bedroom toilet cannot flush most of the time . My hubby , kids and me use the same toilet as we rented out our rooms . So the kitchen toilet & reserved for tenants . It's frustrating to flush but cannot flush ... Anyone can help me ??Thanks !!
Maybe you could open up the tank and take a look at the flushing mechanism. If it is able to retain water inside most probably is the mechanism is faulty.

Whats your take on lowering the weightage of mother tongue in PSLE?
My personal view, if this move is to go ahead, there will not be any motivation for the students to learn Chinese language and if their standard will be lower even further. What happens when they go secondary school then?

Hmm as in? lack of eateries? or cheap housing price? i would think with the renewed govt push for punggol.. it just be the NEXT tampines.. only time will tell.. and yea.. i am also hoping Pasir Ris will retain its quiet and greenery..Lack in eateries. Punggol now not cheap also. resale flat there more exp than Pasir ris.

Haha I like the high ceiling too, but can't really put ceiling lights as a result, or the electrical lines will be quite unsightly. And installing false ceilings / L box defeats the purpose of having the high ceiling I thought.Ya but if you've already spent so much installing the parquet, why not just do it all the way to the edge? But that's just me la, coz I think it's a bit wasted then, the money spent on the parquet.
Water feature eh. Good idea. U plan to buy those fountain type things? I think I saw them around IMM.
Hopefully your contractor gives u a good surprise, not heart attack. Lol.
Are you able to put those ceiling fan with lights instead? Maybe can hack holes on the ceiling and put glass then become penthouse already. haha.
Maybe last time they got furniture around it to cover the tiles.
I have not decided yet since also don know whether got spare cash to do the decking or not. Well, it all depends on tonight's quote. Fingers crossed.

I once bought some kitchen cabinet from them. Charge me 200 dollars for assembly. In the end I do it myself. Took about 4 hours though for me to fix everything.

you can try the chicken rice at downtown east.. food court at white sands is.. hmmm... dont waste time therefor primary schools, white sands primary and coral primary is not too bad for neighbourhood schools
Thanks Joleena. Saw alot of eateries at Ehub too. Maybe can go there try once in a while.

Good to know its around 30 mins.. yea! 1 thing for sure is its alot greener in parsir ris compered to town..Yah, hope it stays that way.
-
All valid points.. truly, price to floor space wise... Pasir Ris offers the most bang for the buck. We started looking at simei it was really expensive..strange thing is Pasir Ris seems to be pretty filled with people ... not sure why there is a lack of eatries as compared to other towns.
Same goes to Punggol cos same GRC.

Does the Rinnai inner burner comes with LPG option?

When using mild detergent to wipe white sofa is better to test on a inconspicuous area first. Waht I can tell you is equally as difficult as polishing a car.
-
I think it has something to do with the "shine" and the quality of the top it selfI'd rather go for a better brand to save the trouble in future.
I see. Thanks for the advise.
-
Wow your contractor's quote is really cheap. Can pm me the contact. Although I already found a contractor, want to compare their prices. Thanks.

I love cooking too but hate the cleaning up. My wife always complain that I made a mess in her kitchen territory. Well so now i make less messy cooking like making soup.

Will polish the parquet in my room. Keeping the window grills too. I will doing a bay window with cushioin on top. My wife said that is waste of money, I will not sit there to do anything. But I insisted on it, as I said if someone comes to our room they will not sit on our bed if there is a window bay.
