  1. Hi everyone, I'm back to RenoTalk again. =D Need to seek for advice and suggestion. Dated today, I have stayed in my new hse for 3mths and like I mentioned eariler Philips Tube gave my problems, till dated, 5 pieces burnt. Liyoda so far so good. Ok straight to the point. I have identified 2 600x600 homo tiles with crack lines, 1 was at a corner with my shoe cabinet sitting on it (LL cannot be changed), another was in the middle of my LR. So my question is, shall I ask my ID to change the homo tile? My concern... 1) Of cos crack tile changed, psychologically feels better. =D 2) Changing 1 tile, I need to remove all my furnitures and after that mop and clean like !@#$%^& Maybe would also like to share some defacts found during this 3mth. 1) Soild table top crack @ corner, ID immediately send solid table top team to fix. After that, I have to wash all kitchenware, windows grills, windows, toilet, things in cabinet, aiya everything... The dust created during the polishing is terrible, beyond my imagination... 2) Water leakage found @ my casement a/c opening. During the reno, I asked my ID to removed HDB original wooden frame and change it to a aluminium frame with fix glass panel. After that, conceal it with parition board. Who knows water slip in during downpour and again, after informing my ID, he arrange windows and glass team to fix for me. Removing the parition board causing my mbr a mess. Upon removing the metal frame and glass metal, then we realised they did not fix a rubber sealer and the metal frame. Cowz... 3) Wall cracks here and there.... I did not make a big fuss bcos many ppl saids resale flats are like tat... 4) Homo tiles crack as mentioned above.
  2. I ever thot of stick to circular lights (hamburger lamp) but due to the attractive PLL lights design and price, I decided to go for PLL lights.
  3. Ya, comments from frds are my hse seems like "floating". Trust me, KDK baby fans are easy to install as compared to my 30" Elmark...
  4. Ya hor, 90 days warranty but does it covers light tube? Sh|t i threw all 4 spoilt away liao... =S Btw, for lightings warranty claims, do I need to send in or they will deliver to doorstep?
  5. Haha... Ya man... Even is MIJ, it shd be quite ex, furthermore I will wonder, is it really from Jap? For my case, can I say I gotten "fake" philips tubes or philips has lousy QC or just tubes from lightings.com.sg is lousy?
  6. The thing is different, btw is not downlight, is those rectangular ceiling lights. Out of curioursity, I took 1 spoilt 36W tube and dismantle the connector portion and to my surprised, I saw 4 greenish corroded wires. @_@ However, no conclusion why it burnt sooo fast, all I can say is Philips lousy QC.
  7. I really need to condemn either Philips PLL 36W tube or Lights from Lightnings.com. Cowz, last night, 2 tubes burnt again, fxxk!! Total to date is 4 out of 17 tubes within 2mths. Can anyone advise, could it be balast problem?
  8. Actually time flies hardly we will bother abt how long we used, instead we change when it burnt... Normally bulb lifespan is abt a year or so but the Liyoda circular tube really impression me... =)
  9. Hi, welcome to Jurong West.... Wah, $240 to me is high lar but I not sure abt the labour cost, mine was, I changed all my bedroom doors excluding knob and they install my knobs and door magnetic foc...
  10. Haiz.... Staying in my new house less then 2mth, 2 out of 14 Philips PLL 36W Tube gone!! Excellent QC man, PRC product. Now I got 2 Liyoda tude, I think is from Taiwan. Let see how long is can last. Anyway, last time in my parent's place, I bought 2 x 40W circular Liyoda Tube and it lasted for 4yrs. Everyday on at least for 6 hours...
  11. Old thread thou just happen to google and would like to share my experience with Philips PLL 36W tubes.... I have 14 tubes in my house and all tubes are used less then 50 hours during my 1 mth stay in my new house... In just 1 mth, 2 tubes burnt, this really makes me questioned on Philips QC.
  12. From my personal experience with Belkin, not sure abt other owners but the followings are the problems I faced. With the same placement of my router, PC (TP-Link N300 PCI) and wifi settings, mentioned in previous post, connecting... 1) Wireless to my PC and LAN to my notebook, "ping 165.21.83.88 -t" (singtel dns) out of 20 pings 7 time-out. Speedtest.net, download speed inconsistent and hardly hit max speed. 2) Wireless alone, "ping 165.21.83.88 -t" (singtel dns) out of 20 pings 18 time-out, equivalent Zero. Can't even load speedtest.net page BUT once LAN connected, result same as (1) 3) LAN alone, result same as (1) 4) Laptop connect LAN straight to modem, perfect result from speedtest.net so... Above result tested same in Belkin F5D8236-4 and F7D2301 but F7D2301 signal strength is the worst! I even tested using a Realtek USB N150 dongle, same result. F5D8236-4, 3 of 5 bar, speed 45mbps F7D2301, 2 of 5 bar, speed 30mbps (What a N router!) DO NOT TRY and AVOID Belkini especially these models below.... Belkin F5D8236-4 N Router (Sent to Service Centre for RMA) Belkin F7D2301 Surf N Router (RMA from Service Centre)
  13. Yes. Somemore my closet in built-in, meaning 3 side backing are concrete wall but the thing is my closet in the middle of my whole hse floorplan so that could be also 1 factor. My wifi was placed abt my 1.8m above ground, my 3rd room is abt 10m away and my PC, with TP-Link PCI N300 Card is on the floor. 4 out of 5 bar, constant 300mbps. Speedtest.net result, 9 out of 10 test hit above my max speed. TL-WR841N (300Mbps Wireless N Router) TL-WN851N (300Mbps Wireless N PCI Adapter )
  14. It has been quite sometime I update my blog and would like to share some feedback I got during my mini House Warming. Invitees mostly are colleagues, friends and minority are relatives... Let me start from negative feedback 1st - Kitchen too small - Too many fan, whole hse is like "floating" - Too many switches - Downlights producing too much heat (after hsewarming, I remove 1 x 18W tube =D) - TV console and coffee table to0 dangerous (full glass, abit regret) - TV for living room seems too small (46" small?) and TV for mbr too big (40") - Balcony aka storeroom door not properly tinted or concealed - Whole hse so "white" like christian hse (quoted by my Ah Ma! haha) Positive feedback - Big living rooms and bedroom, spacious and square - Cosy kitchen design and classy for glass sliding door - Bright and cooling dinning area - Fans are mounted on ceiling, neat and cooling. KDK baby fan very cute. - Every corner has 13A point, very convenient and lighting points save electric, don't need to on all downlights - Good ideas to convert storeroom to walk in wardrobe and balcony to become store - Good workmanship on flooring, shoes and kitchen cabinet Afterall, everyone has our own likes and dislikes, nevertheless, regardless negative or positive feedback, this house is planned and designed by myself, on and off consult my ID for ideas. Lucky enough, he can delivery what I think, what I plan and what I want.
  15. Initally, I got a Bekin N300 wireless router and this freak product is really disappointing! Signal is d@mn bad! Intermittent connectivity and signal strength to my 3 rm was like 1~2 bar, connection speed 30mbps, worse a G radio. NO MORE Belkin! Condemn! There are many negative feedback on similar issue too. Then I bought another N300 Wireless router, TP-Link! I didn't put too much hope on it but just try my luck. The result is fantastic! 300Mbps constant connection and signal strength is like 4 out of 5 bar. I even place my DECT phone side by side with the router and the signal remains stable. Cheap and good china product, no complain on the $$ I paid. Then reason why i didn't get well known brand, Linksys is because the "flat" model actually generates alot of heats and also had bad experience on Linksys G router. So.... I'm happy with TP-Link...
  16. Shouldn't be that bad bah. Let me try it out wif N-radio. =)
  17. Eh... Last time, I can get them anytime, try call them again around 10am. Stock wise I no very sure, normally I will cfm before going there.

My ID originally scheduled hand-over date is 10th August, which is 1st day of 7th mth, hence I request him to drag throughout the entire 7th mth. Anyway, I have quite no. of thing I DIY, hence lucky got 7th mth to drag. My reno journey very soon coming to the end, my ID will handover to me by this week. Cheers...

  24. Eh... If i didn't rem wrongly, the price is around there. I bought 1 white @ RM$450 and 1 silver @ RM$470. I know is not cheap but in Singapore, Panasonic Instant shower without Jet Pump already $220. So basically I bought it purely bcos of Jet Pump, otherwise I will get Champs liao, cheap, simple and good.
