  1. Hi Marshmallow,

Saw that the owner allow you to renovate the house before 2nd appointment. May I know how does your ID apply the permit for renovation? Is it still under the owner's name? Would appreciate if you could advise more details cos we are having a tight schedule for renovation, and would like to know whether can "chiam xiong" with the owner too :) Thanks a lot.

sorry just saw this today... :P

yea the permit is under the ex-owners' names.... they were really kind to help us in this :) and there is this indemnity form that everyone needs to sign, which basically said that the ex-owner not responsible for anything or something like that.... the form can be downloaded from HDB, contractor/ID should know.

    hope it helps :)

  2. To inspire Sis May - I have a colleague who is 47yrs old..she didn't know that she was pregnant for the 2nd time..by the time she knew about the baby, her pregnancy has reached 6mths (ending 2nd trimester) that was also due to her high blood preassure and kena hospitalise.. Its a miracle with a high blood preassure..she able to go for normal birth. And her 1st daughter was 19yrs old when she gave birth to a 2nd baby ;)

wahhhh her 1st daughter is old enough to be the 2nd baby's mom... :o

  3. bleah.... i dun like the current "view new content" function... last time one was better... now only display updated thread for the past 12 hours... made me miss a lot of update, including those on my own blog! 8|

    mini dehumidifier? run on batteries?

not run on battery, it has some moisture absorbant inside (cobalt chloride maybe?? not sure...) and there is usually an colour indicator at the casing. when the indicator changes colour, it means the dehumidifier is full liao, then plug the dehumidifier to a power source to regenerate it and reuse again.

Finally!!! Happy that you will finally furnish your room. But your wedding pic must put up soon lah.

yay~ i'm thinking of a lighter colour theme for the common room.... maybe will go for a birch theme? :) that's what ikea is best at rite hahaha

  4. Henry got two staff; Ivy who is in charge of quotations, coordinating with the designers for the 3Ds etc.. Another guy by the name of Tony who is the site supervisor for the on-going projects.

now how many supervisors they have? during my time there were 4...

Oh Rachel is back to Penang? Then he will go play with his camera again. Then I will have nice pic for my walls. Haha....

like that very soon your wall will be covered with pictures... no need to re-paint the wall next time. hahaha

  5. yo sis Mae, congrats!! i feel that the more heart warming thing is the sms he sent you, such a sweet boy! :)

just btw, when i last visited your home, i already felt that your 2nd son is very well-mannered :good: very hard to find boys like him nowadays haha :)

Yes..I fully understand... Don't say 1st class hons lah... I think If mine just need to get a pass, I already super proud liao...

Congrats Mae Jie... :good: So now u can shake legs liao... :notti:

Btw, enjoy your trip and bon voyage!

hee i guess that's how parents usually feel about their own children? :) that's something my mom said too... hee :P no matter what happened, there is nothing as close to your heart as your own flesh and blood :)

  6. No one recruit me leh.:P

I didn't even know have a name (LAKAD) and club. Erm, so where do I sign up? :P:D

let's officiate this LAKAD club... so you can sign up... ;) sis Mae cane be our honorary chairperson

    My house renovation completed...

Left curtains, which will be installed this Saturday.

Waiting to move in officially, but FSM says these 2 lunar months not good to do. Official move in date gonna be early September! So long!

Think everyone in the group has their own reno blog except for me. Too lazy to write or update. Haha

the wait must be kinda sian rite~ no good date in these 2 long months at all? cannot be la....

btw you managed to get the guy who tries to sell the osim vacuum cleaner? :)

  7. No lah, I dont believe age is just a number. It's really how your body is. Old Liao means old lah... No point saying otherwise. Hehe.... I am happy as it is cos it's the fact of life. Old Liao cannot have babies already mah... How to say not old?  don't worry i am still the happy girl which u will meet on your house warming. Haha....

while i agree that as time goes by, i do feel that my stamina is getting worse e.g. when going to gym, but i think you are not too old to have babies lor... i know plenty of pple who gave birth to their first baby at an age quite a bit older than you... haha ;)

I have friends who gave birth in early forties hor cos they married late... Fann Wong also trying now mah... she also close to 40 liao...

actually my mom gave birth to me when she was 43... haha :P but i m not the first born la.

  8. mould bugs strive well at environment with mould, becos the mould helps to break down mould bugs' food (starchy stuff, fabric, plaster.. like what Kerio mentioned) for their easy ingestion.

imho, Dettol is simply not good enough. use bleach solution (dilute with water at 1:49), or Borax solution (can't get in Singapore). On Borax, search for mould-related thread on RT, a bro called Topspin has provided a lot of valuable input on this matter.

So far found Borax to be better. with Dettol, i need to wipe once every few days, for bleach, once every 2 weeks but Borax, once every month. ;)

those ants/insects poison can be found anywhere: supermarket, neighbourhood grocery shops, home-fix, etc. around $2~3 for a small box of powder. More establish brands like "Combat" costs more.

my guess on why MBR and kitchen more susceptible is becos these places are more humid - kitchen you have all the cooking activities which introduces moisture, while MBR you have toilet and frequent on/off of aircon (causing condensation)~ well just my guess ;)

  9. i'm using FFM4000 with light kit... no complaint so far. the fan comes with 2 Fanco bulbs. after the bulbs busted, i changed to a philip one with same voltage but somehow it became A LOT brighter~

one thing to take note is that the Philips bulb is a bit fatter than the Fanco original one... so sometimes when the fan rotates and vibrates, the bulb will hit the light cover and have a bit of small noise... not very noticeable though unless you pay attention in a very quiet environment~ i probably need to look for another light bulb that is smaller... hmmm bro, any advice on this? :)

  10. Hi, would like to enquire where did you buy the holder for mop etc. Thank you :)

    Hi!

I got it from howards storage world.

Can be found at harbourfront or parkway parade. :)

Hi, the holder for the broom and mop can be bought at a nearby hardware shop near the aircon food centre around blk 417 plus cuz i saw it last week.

just for the record, home-fix also have. price is similar ;)

Haa.. No water too. Jus the chix only.

Ya, heard it's nice too.. But won't b getting that thou.

My current wok is good enough! ;)

haha i see. this one needs non-stick pan to do the job :)

  11. i also received. those pay really peanuts for each bottle. they will offer way less than 50% of what u would have to pay outside for 1 bottle.

depends on what is your objective mah... if you just wanna get rid of them, even a small sum is better than nothing :P

Aiyoh... Sis, u accountant leh... U shd know my age lah... Where got before 21 when I'm married leh? But both of u certainly made my day! :sport-smiley-018: People study, I dating mah....If plus dating..then it's 15 years! :jawdrop:

Friends78...looks like both of us same..people study we dating kekeke..just that I date longer than got married.. Been married for 7yrs now and in love with hubby for 18yrs and still growing strong :drunk:

wah... 15 and 18 yrs sound really like a long time! :o

Ya loh, what skincare u use? I want to use the same!!

I know lah, just don't want to make it obvious to ppl yr real age. Haha.... :)

aiyo she already "published" her age mah................... (long-lost sis, please don't beat me up )

  12. Hi thanks all for the reply

I will go diaso to find this . sponge with long handle? actually I haven seen any of this before

you can take a look at those neighbourhood shops, sometimes can be cheaper than Daiso

it's just a piece of sponge attached to a long plastic handle.... you can use it for many other purposes, not just to clean windows ;)

  13. If not, when the kids go to sec school, I may be able to move to Bukit Batok EA. I actually love those Design and Built EAs at Bukit Batok Street 25 (next to Yusof Ishak Sec). The units are facing a varse expanse of forested area. Very nice view! However, with the current land scarce and the need to ramp up supply, not sure if the government will develop this piece of forested area in future.

my friends stay at this area (Bukit Batok St 25 next to the school). they mentioned that while the forested area offers nice greenery and unblocked view, it makes the place very humid.... every morning they literally see "steam" rising up from the forest  (it's mist/fog - water vapour) their stuff get mouldy very easily.

  14. Sunset Way is a nice and serene neighbourhood, but frankly if the reason of moving is for the proximity to Fairfield, then Dover, Holland V, or Ghim Moh would be a better choice... though a problem with Ghim Moh is that for many blocks, Chinese quotas are full (well, not a problem if you're not Chinese )

just btw, Clementi may not be a good choice, cos during my house searching, viewed this unit at Clementi Ave 4. the reason why the owner wanna shift house is that the son is studying at Fairfield, and every morning the jam from Clementi to Dover is so terribly horrible that they considered to move, though they love their Clementi home very much. :bangwall:

  15. and talk about alcohol, i have several bottles of martell vsop that i wanna dispose of. anyone knws someone who's looking to buy some?

bro, yesterday i received a flyer stuck at my house gate, from those wine collector (wine karung guni? :P) that pays you for old wine.... maybe you can try those? ;)

if it's with food then it's ok. But cannot drink it like that.

Same same. I can eat but not drink!

i dun understand leh... how come can eat cannot drink? you just mean you can't drink a lot is it? i guess you can drink a liiiittle bit rite?

for myself, something very interesting is that if i take alcohol and prawns separately, there is completely no problem. but if i eat "drunken prawns", i will get rashes!

  16. aiyo looking at the chicken wings, i am getting hungry leh... :dribble: you just use water to "fry" is it? :)

btw i saw a facebook post from my friend who used the Philips

air fryer to fry chicken wings... supposed to be able to fry things without oil too. have you tried it before? :)

  17. Whoa! Sis Mae..this is BIG. In Chinese what is the belief? In Malay..if we have moth, we going to have a visitor on their way..

my mom told me that for Chinese, a moth is supposed to represent a dead person (e.g. family member) returning home for "visit". also "visitor" on his/her way

just when my grandma passed away, my sis spotted big moth at home for few consecutive days.....

Sis Lady_R, cannot be Hum Sup Ghost liao ever since I'm married :o:dribble: kekekekekekekeke

you are writing this for your wife to read rite? hahahahaha :notti:

I help you all change this to scientific talk.. :P

This moth is actually an Atlas Moth, largest moth species in the world. Wing to wing they can grow up to 30cm or sometimes even more..

They are quite common in Singapore, once I went to Sungei Buloh for a nature trek and it was atlas moth season, saw quite a few big moths and A LOT of their caterpillars. These caterpillars are all about 10cm long or so. Really the largest of its kind, we are actually quite lucky to be able to see this species of moth fly around Singapore.

    Cheers :yamseng:

bro you studied biology one? :D wah 10cm caterpillar is very scarryyyy laaa... i think that freaks me out more than the giant moth

but hor, knowing that this is bro ko's thread... i think it's hard to stay scientific for a long time... hahahaha :P

I like this thread! We Really talk anything under the sun....

Ya boy, this is a fun thread, can chat about all sorts of things. Kobe bro is cool. :good:

i never fail to LOL whenever i come to this thread... Ely's thread is another one with many interesting topics hahaha :)
