  1. hey thanks neomesis! just took a look at ur blog. i've been silently following it so far.. very impressed at how things are turning out. hope mine turns out well cos no ID, have to rely on our judgment of what goes with what. fingers crossed! lol we got great taste huh? haha i just love those tiles!! so marble like right? very classy u think the kitchen looks good? hehe thanks.. hopefully it turns out well.. they are putting it up on Wednesday. So exciting to see my plans coming to reality :dancingqueen:
  2. My hubby is the sweetest We had originally picked out our tiles and i had fallen in love with the master bedroom bathroom tiles. they were so hotel like! Yea, so when we got our keys to the house (the house itself has never been occupied, but the flat is 10yrs old) we realised that they laid new tiles in the bathroom for us!! well, not nice, but still new and we thought it might be a waste to re-do them. I was looking at the tiles and feeling so like "oh, how nice would it be to have these tiles instead of the ugly hdb tiles" so off i went on holiday and came back to the reno and what do i see??? THE LOVELY TILES!!! awww.. so sweet my hubby, did up the MBR bathroom with those tiles. i absolutely love them!! here's a sneak peek into our bathroom hehe this is our tv area Guest/study room (painted in ICI sandstone.. love the colour!) Baby's room (ashley blue.. i think the paint looks better in person. doesnt look quite right in the pic) MBR (spicy salsa) I like the colour of the MBR, but somehow it didnt turn out to be the exact shade of red i wanted.. bit bright, by my standards. Actually was always picturing the room with dark furniture to complement the wall, but now hubby says that might looked too cramped. i agree with him but he wants white and i'm not sure if it will go with the wall? what do u guys think? p.s. why does this silly imageshack rotate my pics when they were perfectly fine before? so annoying. hope u dont get a stiff neck from looking at my pics!
  3. hi everyone its been a long time since i updated. Actually i'm away from Singapore at the moment and hubby is taking care of the reno. very excited to see how things have turned out when i return. enough talking here are the pics Living area.. ex-study room wall hacked and entrance sealed up (shown in second picture) hallway looks longer now that the entrance is sealed kitchen thats all for now
  4. Congrats Sazeryn!!! All the best to you. May everything go well, with God's blessings! SO happy for u btw, after saying im not gonna get LG fridge i got the same fridge as u. hehe couldnt help it la. it look too nice hehehe take care. get loads of rest.do things to keep urself happy! that's very important!!
  5. Hi Pinktini.. yea we are def liking the warm cosy feel. Only thing is have to be real careful of the other colours that we are choosing so as to avoid the place becoming to dark. BTW, good news! Getting the keys on wednesday! omg cant hardly wait. countdown begins!! Problem with so much time is that we tend to keep chaning our minds in regards to the layout. one moment we dont want the balcony, want to make into a platform. then decide dont want platform. then decide want balcony. then decide want to shift tv area to the ex-study room (one wall to be hacked, doorway sealed up). now NOT SURE!! AIYO headache la.. but in the end we decided that we will look at the flat before making the final decision so EXCITED!!!
  6. Okay made some purchases recently.. 1. Electrolux Front Loading Washing Machine (8kg) EWF1082 2.System 4 Air Con Mitsubishi We plan to put an air con in our living room. The air con guy suggested that we put it as indicated in blue on the diagram. The red is for the mirror wall we have planned for that area. Can't make the mirror full length any more... oh well Still have alot of decisions to make !! Thinking of having a black 4ft tv feature wall. Hubby wants a lightish console to go with it. I'm not convinced that it will look good cos of the dark wood. so anyone want to try to convince me?
  7. which ones? the ones above showing the dark laminates? lol no lah... hahaha if i can draw that well i'll go set up a ID firm already. these ones are real pictures taken from google images search
  8. oh man i've never seen decking in the shower area before.. what a cool idea! is there special maintenance for it?
  9. wow.. just read ur t-blog and was so impressed at the transformation. Liking the look of ur dark floors and light walls. They look amazing. We're thinking of doing the same. Love the cosy look. We're intending to have our fridge flush with our kitchen cabinets just like urs. was just wondering what are u using the space on the left of the fridge for? also, r u using granite or solid surface as ur counter top? also, ur 3D drawings using google sketch are amazing!! mine looks like scribble compared to urs Congrats on the baby bump hehe.. be prepared for a wonderful change to ur life.
  10. These are some ideas we have.. Dark wood laminates for the tv area .. want to have a cosy feel Like in the picture above, we're planning on having the dining area in tiles.. probably a lighter colour then this though Love this kitchen colour scheme
  11. Reading all these reviews on fridges are really doing my head in.. Read reviews on Samsung saying they don't work after a few months. They said they started hearing loud sounds coming from the fridge and that the temp was not low enough so all their food went bad. Then a few comments on Panasonic saying the same thing!! My LG fridge has been doing the same thing.. not cold enough. takes so long to make ice. food is not fresh. Omg.. what on earth seriously. Have all the fridges in the world been affected by global warming too??? Now which brand do i choose? I have so much on my mind right now. SO many choices. Things to buy: A. Furniture sofadining table and chairscoffee tablewardrobe B. Appliances fridgewashing machineair concooker hoodcooker hobblenderrice cookertoastermicrowaveovenelectric kettlewater heaterceiling fantelevision C. Fittings: sinksbasinstaps Hmmm.. what else?? As easy as A-B-C? Not likely... My husband and i find it soooo hard to choose something. We have to think and think and think and THINK. That's why ID/contractor STILL not finalised. Getting keys in less than a month. OMG.. time is really running out. :bangwall:
  12. yea i saw at Best it was $1199. looks good. how do u find the fridge so far? do u think too much space is allocated for the freezer? i donno about that model.. mine is the normal type. my aunt also has the same model and she had some problems with it. service man came to fix it and said LG brand not good. but urs since its newer model probably is better. really?? the higher end solid top is more expensive than granite? is it china or india granite? i should remember to ask the IDs want brand of solid surface they are offering..
  13. yea! like that.. that's a good price. is it samsung or another brand?
  14. Anyone have fridge to recommend? The one we currently have is LG and is giving alot of problem. Not cool enough so food spoiling v fast. Have panasonic in mind.. But yesterday saw a samsung one that looks quite nice. not so bulky. Somehow i feel samsung not as good as panasonic though i can't seem to find the exact samsung model that i saw yesterday looks something like this, but without the water dispenser the panasonic one is this:
  15. sammi sis mine still haven't got keys yet sob sob.. either early or mid july.. wait so long til i wanna faint well atleast using the time to finalise IDs, designs etc. so in a way it's good i guess.. i wanna use granite too!! but exp right..
  16. wow sazeryn ur home is looking great! soon u can move in!!! wahhhh i like ur kitchen colour scheme.. is the top cabinets white?
  17. really.. so easy to get scratched?? even though she used a sponge.. goodness. i never had any exp with white top tts why abit afraid to use it. my mom's kitchen we had granite and in my MIL's kitchen is laminate. hmmm i donno maybe have to do what u did Sazeryn and choose a colour that's neither black or white
  18. Sealers # The purpose of sealing granite countertops is to prevent absorption. Even if the slab has been pre-sealed, repeating the process after installation is recommended. More info about sealers here care for granite tops here. Hope that helps !
  19. Hi Cec! welcome to renotalk whereabouts in SK are u? i'm not sure about marble but i think granite u need to seal it every 6 mths..
  20. Hi Newnyew! thanks! i'm so excited to start renovation hehehe ur of cos welcome to join YAYY SK and Hougang ladies unite! lol
  21. hehe its google sketch.. at first i didn't understand how to use it but once u get the hang of it its quite fun.. somethings i still donno how to do. like insert furniture/appliances etc. tts why there's a big space there instead of a fridge well, the big sink we thought move to the wet area so that we can have more worktop in the kitchen for food prep. The small sink is for cooking and food prep purposes while the big sink is for washing up. In theory, it sounds good i guess, don't know how practical it will be. hmm yea that's true. i actually like the idea of white. but the maintenance is quite daunting.. But isnt it that white is stained easily? esp since i'll be using tumeric in my cooking. i don't want my solid surface turning yellow. yucks.. Actually, scratches usually due to what? knives..?
  22. i'm not sure if the colour scheme we've chosen is too dark.. dark wood laminates + black solid surface top we thought on the other side (fridge side) if put white wld make it brighter Hubby wanted white solid surface top but my worry like most ppl is the stains. aiya... donno la
  23. hahaha we are the SK and Hougang ladies..
  24. Here are some plans i've been working on for the kitchen what do you guys think?
