Don't know much about Tekka but I personally find Tecno cooking appliances pretty solid and value for money. Bought 2 Hob, Hood, Built-in Oven packages from Tecno (one for my parents house and one for mine) almost 10 years back and they've served us very well. Not to mention that my wife does quite a bit of baking and cooking.

Last month, we just bought another Hob Hood Oven package from their Warehouse sale to replace our existing set. The oven I got is the Tecno Largo 60 and I have to say, we're really happy with the purchase. Apart from its futuristic design, the heating is extremely even and precise, enabling us to get the textures and results we want with our food.

Hi couch potato can you share a little more about your Tecno oven? I'm looking for replacement and the brand's recommended at the shop are Elba, Tecno n Brandt. Appreciate user reviews! I realise these discussions were dates back years ago :)Thank u!

  2. oh! i went online to watch those demo video on baking sites, they crush the Oreo with the cream one leh~

I guess no hard and fast rule lah, for me, crush just the biscuit easier. then can add cream back into butter or filling, still get to eat everything :D

  3. nope. but i think i read somewhere before... thanks for bring this up, sounds like a good idea~

btw i tried your suggestion to make digestive biscuit crumb by putting the biscuit into plastic bag and roll with dough stick... it works like a charm :D surely i will stick to this method in future.

but it gets a bit messy when it comes to Oreo (due to the cream)... the resulting product is also not as fine as compared to digestive... i supposed it's becos Oreo is harder~? :P

ya ya, try it, should be less mess and sticky ..

oh no, marsh, if oreo, must take out the cream before crushing!! then the cream can either add to the cheese or whatever filling/topping, or just eat it on its own .. yum! I only like the centre part of the oreo :)

  4. The chicken brand stuff are from my previous flat...Doesn't look 5 years old hor? This brand is :good::good: My previous contractor recommended it and we bought quite a no of stuff ..Pity that I didn't move the dish rack and toilet racks due to space constraint.. :bangwall: . My heart very pain when I realised that how much the prices have gone up over the years...

wow, i thought newly bought things for yr new place leh. actually this brand really good investment, life-time warranty one

Non slip mat for the drawers and solid surface top... New kitchen is like that wan.. Little bit also cannot and must wipe... I think I will hack care in mths to go... :sport-smiley-004:

ha ha ... we are starting to feel a bit hack care liao .. maybe initially clean up straight away, then end of the day, then 2 days, a few days, once a week, once a month ... :sport-smiley-004:

  5. Wow! You know how to make fondant cakes! I still have not got down to try these yet. Do you sell your cakes? Where you learn? :)

    Really very pretty'

thanks, aimei. fondant cakes are actually quite fun to make, like young time playing dough. :sport-smiley-018:

I don't run a shop lah, too many overheads, but just take orders from friends, friends' friends etc. will pm you in a while

  6. haha quite easy de... just set up an account at blogspot.com and start with a few post.. mine also very simple only... not like those very special layout which I dunno how to do...

personally i feel Bosch and Brandt equally reputable but i decided to go for Bosch cos' it looks more sleek and they go deeper into newer technology while Brandt is more than "long zi hao"... people still buy them cos it their reputable brand as a good oven but they don't innovate much.

thanks thanks, will try go take a look. if stuck, i consult u again hor :D: i am very bad at this kind of thing ...

  7. normal plastic... like those transparent plastic bag you get from supermarket.

i went to read the review on the recipe after that... many pple also commented that the dough is sticky. i thought maybe becos this one is ang moh recipe so get sticky faster in Singapore weather~ hahahahaha

marsh, another method is to roll out dough into a sheet before chilling. ie

    1. take a portion of dough, and put in plastic bag

    2. roll to required thickness (in the bag)

    3. chill

    4. take out, cut plstic bag, and cut cookies

this way, cookie will still be quite "hard" and less chance for sticky or losing the shape or breaking. Try it?

  8. Also had check with my id on the glass hob, he mention wont be putting silicon as the hob comes with rubber base.

    Thus won't result in spillage.

my understanding is - better not to put silicon to allow for glass expansion during cooking. Different sources say the same, and does make sense to me, so i accepted.

  9. Hi, froggy

    Thank you for visiting....

LOL...when I put on the socks for the chair legs, I never thought it looks cute on it :P until sis Marshy commented yesterday!

think i have missed yr blog till now right? actually i am very bad at this - sometimes left comments then forget whose blogs i wrote on? So never get to read reply hence communication like stop there ... i stil wonder how all of u can be in some many blogs at the same time, and never get confused??

we also wanted to protect the floor from the table/chair legs, but we are boring people - bought those black rubber studs only. Yrs remind of those cartoon where non-living things got live of their own .. :D

  10. Then, we wanted to get the Dryer already, but the salesman very pushy, kept asking us to get a washer with the "BRANDT" or "BRUNDT" branding... saying it is Made in Poland, very good... .... I have not done any research on the brand , so I told the salesman I'll go back to him.... but he still keep insisting us to place a deposit to "log in the price" or "lock the price"... ... we then became not comfortable after that, and did not get anything, but will check on price of the Bosch dryer and go back to them again. hahaha, he want to do my biz also very difficult... :o

ha ha, we went through this at mega too. at first, wanted electrolux washer and dryer, but electrolux dn't have manual type (I am very old school of thought n don't like and don't know how to use too much electronic kind of gadget at home) .. so salesman highly rec brandt. All specs fit what we are looking for, but still we said we go for coffee and think about it. then we went round the other shops to get feedback on that brand, finally convinced ourselves it's ok, and went ahead, so now we own brandt washer as well as dryer. even our hob and hood also brandt. The only electrolux things at home now is the oven .. so funny .. bc that's the original brand we were looking at!

anyway, forget about the lock the price gimmick - have learnt my lesson for aircon purchase!

  11. Cutiecat, I've read quite afew comments on internet, and had confirmed to get the air vent type (alot of feedback and opinions favour the air vent type)...

IMHO, you can place your Air dryer n washer at your service yard, this way, the hot air can escape ... Since you have the space there, you might as well make use of it :) .... wife n me don't have silk clothes so far... so the air dryer for us... haha :)

I went to mega Discount store @ Kallang 2 days ago, there's a Bosch dryer (6KG) going at $699... I think quite cheap, have not check out other shops, but will update you again on the dryers...

    hi kobelala

we got alot of appliances from mega too. but before confirming with them, best to check out prices at other shops, esp goh ah bee and everjoint, then use these to press them down!

as for dryer, heard that condenser one does not work as well as air vent type? anyway, we got one more as a standby, esp good in rainy weather like now!
