  1. Saw from daikin's website the gas top up is only S$35 http://www.daikin.com.sg/svc_charges.asp but they charged me $180..
  2. Just want to share my experience with Hong Tar.. Got them to install the aircon 2 years plus ago (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries system 4 inverter). The aircon was working fine until earlier this year I called them up for servicing (condenser dirty, charged 380+, with 180 for gas topup). In March, the gas was gone and they came down to top up the gas. In April, the gas was gone again. Called them up and they denied having anything to do with the gas leak and accepts no responsibility at all. They recommend to do a pressure test at $380. After many calls (manager is always not around, to date I still have not gotten to speak to him/her), they finally agree to send down somebody to check. The result is still the same, a pressure test is needed. I asked the support lady (Catherine) if she is in my position and her aircon is working fine until the servicing, would she think that it has totally nothing to do with the servicing, and she answered "yes". When asked, they are not able to tell me the causes of gas leakage, so I searched on the web: - locking nut at condenser not properly tighten - over tightening caused the flare to crack - flare was formed with ripples which results in leakage - 2 pieces of copper pipes in the condenser are touching each other - over charging of gas system causes compressor to overheat and damage shock absorbers - over charging of gas system also causes compressor to vibrate vigorously - pipe leakage Seems from everywhere (except Hong Tar) I looked, the gas leakage points to the installation/serving done by them. Please let me know if I am unfairly putting the blame on them.
  3. Wow! Toshiba's service is really great! Will try to call Hong Tar back again and see what they say.. Thanks for the tips!
  4. Thanks for the reply! My installation warranty (1 year) is over.. so don't think they will be doing free pressure test for me.. By the way, what is the company that installed the aircon for you? They sounds great!
  5. Hi, Need some advice from you guys.. The story is such: Roughly 2 years ago, I got my aircon from Hong Tar. They did the installation and everything was ok. Then earlier this year, the aircon was not cold so we call them down for servicing. They reported that the condensor was all choked up and need a chemical wash. Total damage was $200+ for chemical wash and $180 for gas top up (reason being R410A gas is more expensive). After one month plus, the aircon is not cold again. So we call them down to check and they reported that there could be gas leakage. They top up the gas and ask us to monitor. After another month or so, the aircon is not cold again. This time, they say they need to do a pressure test that would cost $380. This is not including any repair cost. My questions are: - Could the chemical wash have caused the leakage? If not, what could have caused a gas leakage? - What other options do I have now? Do you have any trust worthy aircon company to recommend?
