  1. is there some practical reason, or is it based on some fengshui thing
  2. haha dunno when grand opening!!! can't wait to just get a peek lolz..
  3. hello Junwei!! I'm also in Simei and gonna start reno soon (I hope..) with Jason (I hope too!) haha.. I live in Blk 162! All the best to your permit!
  4. NOOOOOO!!!! PLEASE GO RED BLACK RED.... IT'S FANTASTIC!!!! why not try red white red too??? omg... wish I had a red kitchen.. but anyways u must take note that all the 3D you have are using GLOSSY laminates to achieve that nice shiny effect... In reality, yes glossy laminates can do it, but you must have very good lighting and you must take very good care of your glossy laminates cos they scratch like mad... and when they scratch... it's really bad!
  5. haha thanks er... kuku? lol.. sounds like i'm scolding you instead I believe strongly in stretching the dollar and getting more bang for my buck haha! Especially big ticket items.. On the contrary, I'm afraid we won't be getting the citygas dryer because it's... really not that fantastic in the aesthetics department haha.. the "periscope-like" vent on top of the dryer is..zzz.. and the colour/design makes it seem abit old.. Anyways we decided that since clothes can just dry anyways in the room while hung up, we will just do that and save the cost of getting the dryer! At least this means it's ugly some times, but not all the time when the dryer is there Don't know if anybody knows of some really artistic/designer bamboo pole ceiling hooks?? haha.. One more point to note.. we will likely not get the citygas heater because it seems there will be alot of pipes running here and there, plus each time I shower, it will automatically heat the water up to 45degrees regardless I want it that hot or not ( Then the temperature of the water that comes out of the shower is mingled with cold water to get it to the temperature you want.. sort of like hotels)! This is a huge waste of energy compared to electric heaters where I can adjust the temperature of the water I want to heat up to..
  6. haha haven't been a front-loader before, so looking forward to trying out this new gadget! Yeah heard the agitator knocks around clothes too much for comfort.. Thanks samgalz haha.. Apologies if I said anybody's WM is fuglier etc..
  7. Continuing the epic tale of the washing machine... Scenario: After buying all those stuff in the weekend, I decided to look online to see where else got ongoing sale to check out if other places were selling cheaper (make sure I hold Courts to their "Cheapest" claim mah.. ). Some names came up were Best Denki (Plaza Sg GET RIDiculous sale), Gain City (Extended Expo sale) and Harvey Norman (Great Price Chop) mentioned previously. Went down to Best Denki @ PS yesterday, and they were really moving out (Selling display sets, wrapping up stuff etc)! Made my way to the fridge area first, and they told me they were selling the fridge (I bought $699 @ Courts) for $849. So no problemo there. Went to washing machine area then saw the LG 1422 I bought for $888 going for $899 there.. so again no problemo... THEN I SAW THE MOTHER OF ALL WASHING MACHINE DEALS. Dimensions: 600mm(W) x 590mm (D) x 850mm (H) Notable features: 8.5kg load, Steam Tech, Direct Drive motor, Standby power zero, RPM range from 400,600,800,1000,1200,1400, Aqua lock The LG WD-1403TDS6 (Black) was going for $1399 (Cheapest seen: $1699)!!! You're probably thinking "Stupid fellow, so expensive for wachine machine, more expensive that the one you bought... besides you already have washing machine already??" Trust me all these thoughts ran through my brain, but then to sweeten the deal, LG is GIVING AWAY A 32" (32LD330) LCD TV AS WELL!!! Given that we are also hunting for 32" TV, I did a quick calculation. 32LD330 cheapest seen was $549, so the washing machine was actually going at about $850! This is cheaper than our much fuglier and lower range 1422TD. I immediately called up Courts, asked if I can exchange my washing machine for something else, and they said no problem because not yet delivered, just bring invoice down and repick what I want. Got wifey to call them again to double-check, got the same answer from Courts. And then we sealed the deal with Best Denki Final deal: $1399 for nice LG Washing Machine and LG 32" LCD
  8. After the brainwashing by Anthony, we left to discuss whether we should buy (I admit I was sold by the time Anthony finished ). Next, we went to check out washing machines. Damage no.2: Washing Machine Background: I did more research on this, by reading up from Renotalk (Saw lots of arguments between the forummers lapena and cromodora about Miele etc) and the Web. Mainly it's to find out top-load vs front-load washing machines, and what brands can last. Summary for front loads vs top loads: Front Loads Pro: Saves water (up to 50 litres per wash), less soap (less water = less soap), gentler on clothes, less electricity (debatable though!), NICER. Cons: Expensive (Can cost about double or $300-$400 more), no stopping when it's started, uses low-sud detergent Top Loads Just the opposite of front loads basically. Uses up to 100 litres of water each wash. That's a **** lot of water. Conclusion: We decided to go for front loads, because we are environmentally friendly, we will recoup the upfront costs through the savings in water and detergent costs, and we want it NICE. Scenario: Anthony handed us over to his colleague dealing with washing machines, Philip. Boy... another super sales person. To cut the boring part of the story, we bought the LG F1422TD, 8kg front load with Direct Drive motor, $888. Not too shabby, because all the other places we visited annd cheapest was $899. Unfortunately, it's quite fugly as it's white and boring! Washing Machine saga to be continued in next post...
  9. ahh... after the ranting we decided to take a first big LEAP OF FAITH to jump start our appliance purchases. Don't know about you guys but wifey and I had serious inertia issues pumping in so much cash initially to buy the appliance... But anyways once we start we can't stop!!!! well.. at least we aren't over-spending! i hope? now to chronicle our adventures.. prepare for a long post! Damge no. 1: Fridge Background: Didn't do much research on fridges cos didn't think there was much to find out on.. Just wanted a nice and affordable one with at least 3 energy-saving ticks! Shouldn't be too big either as mainly just wifey and I.. Scenario : Last saturday we made our way to the Courts MegaStore to check out their Megaraya sale.. Boy were we surprised by all the different features point out to us by the Court salesperson (Anthony). We were initially checking out a black fridge with glass finish (no more magnets!) from either Mitsubishi or Toshiba ($829) but he pointed out that although it doesn't scratch, when it cracks we are basically stuck with it! Like sheep being led to slaughter, we just listened to his powerful sales pitch (I'm very sure they were all sent to some super duper sales pitching course!), he then brought us to the fridge we finally bought, the LG GRM4923CSN: Dimensions: 680(W) x 715 (D) x 1725 (H) Notable features: Green Plasma (some tech to remove odour), Door Cooling, Bioshield to reduce mould, Door alarm, 3 energy ticks! Cons: Wifey thinks it looks industrial given the stainless steel finish. The vege drawer at the bottom is slightly awkward. Price: $699 (Courts 2 day special, we checked everywhere else with sales (Best Denki, Gain City, Harvey Norman), minimum $849) so

Even our mascots look crappy.. look at World Cup's "Waving Flag" and compare to ours.. it's an absolute disgrace.. Hai since when writing to TC get anything done? More likely to press, then they will say we should be more tolerant etc etc. it's our "choice" to be there in that stupid SMRT woman's words... wa sei... let's see how it goes when we move in.. i surely will restore my peace and quiet one loh dun care what means!!! GRRR... well... my friend from MCYS said he asked the YOG department people why the picked the song and they were like " How I know, Don't ask me!" disgraceful.. when the main singer has publicly denounce that he did not write the song, you know something is extremely wrong.

  21. for the kitchen layout, wifey and I have something else in mind.. something similar but different also! I think let's meet up again to talk this weekend? How about Sat afternoon or Sunday? Also, can prepare a few layouts (2-3) for the proposed study room (bedroom 2) and colour schemes?
  22. hey jason thanks for the layouts We have a ton of ideas now especially for the kitchen, but don't know whether feasible or not.. Shall discuss with you when we meet up When do you think the layouts and designs / quoutation will be ready for discussion with us ah?
  23. Which wall you mean is the beam? Also, can mafan you to design something with the aircon shifted to next to the bed like we discussed? Is it possible to avoid sliding door by shifting aircon and then building the wardrobe more to the centre of the room? I think more or less we got the kitchen design layout already after discussing with wifey! we will show you what we cooked up and see if it's workable. Looking fwd to HO date
  24. sounds like a plan jaskel when can we meet up to discuss the layouts or would you prefer to send us all the soft copies then let us look through first? Anyways just a heads up but we hope we can start reno soon so that we can move in right after 7th month (10 sep).. Thanks!
