  1. Our Kitchen finally done up minus the electronics. Crestar palm fan up in living area. This was a tough choice between aesthetics and functionality, but in the end it was actually breezy. It's actually acrylic not wood. A standing light I really like. Have a few other more zen looking ones, but this one would pair well with a green leafed plant I think.
  2. Sorry for hear about your dog. Yeah my wife and I love BKK too. But have not gone for a year or so. It's not a private condo. We just happen to be on the garden floor. Only two units on our floor, with the usually empty garden opposite us.
  3. Yes the room with the 2 sides glassed up is our study area. Thought might be good for infants in the future too. I think the glass up really does the trick to "open up" the lighted spaces alot.
  4. Kitchen Cabinets mostly up. This was on Monday.... today table top should be going up.... The laminate has a really nice wood grain, and had a strong greyish tone to it. Would look okay with the blackish glass we chose for the hob, oven, microwave oven and the dish rack.
  5. Ahh... you have a doggie... makes sense now.... but it's still very brave of you to do a open concept for the loo. Nice decor pieces too... where do you get your deco/art pieces from? any particular place? I'll be making a trip to bali to relax and of course look for some pieces for my new place...
  6. Hey! Love your place too. Esp the toilets - very nifty how you managed to use the space.
  7. Hi! Been following your blog recently too. Mine is a 5Rm resale. Think it's considered a corner unit but the secret is in the layout more than anything.
  8. View from Dining area. Homogeneous tiles but non glazed. Colors turned out very close the laminates, which was a pleasant surprise. I prefer touches of color which would really attract rather than too many attractive colors all crying for attention. Some people call this boring. Sorry about the blurness. Kitchen from door perspective. Cabinet doors are not up yet. So the Orange wood things you see are the interior laminates. The greyish brown portions are the real outer-surface laminates. They have a nice texture to it. The walls are cement screed and was quite smoothly done up. The light on top will be changed don't worry. Will post more pics once I have them!
  9. Living Area raised on Platform. Laminated Flooring. Off white yellowish wall paints. L box with simple downlights to cast limited glow off the walls. Furniture will be mostly walnut teak with contrasting white/biege upholstery. Reverse angle of Living Area. Bedroom on the right with "glassed walls" to create the illusion of space, without seeming too much like a fish tank. I never really liked the whole wall as glass kind of look. View from "glassed walled" bedroom. On left looking into living area, On right looking into dining area.
  10. Finally got the time to sit down and return to this forum after gaining so much information from it the last two months. Basically wanted a functional space while using a few resort design elements. The real problem of a resort design is they are usually holiday spaces and not living spaces, and it is seriously difficult to have large palm leaves as wall motiffs that are larger than your wardrobe. So for me furniture and lighting will play a big part in creating those design elements. The reno is of today almost complete. Expecting handover within the next week in fact.
  11. I was looking around the usual cheaper places such as Mega, Parisilk etc. but I ended up buying with Harvey Norman. Harvey Norman has a price matching policy - so if you've done your homework by asking around the "warehouse prices" shops - you still can get good deals from them. The plus point would be you could get the extended warranty for anything you buy.
  12. I've got 3 or 4 command strips I use to hang things. Placed them 5 years ago and they are still there. In fact I have a hook one and the plastic broke off after a few years but the sticky tape is still there! (I hung a heavy bag on it beyond the weight limit). But you must follow removal instructions carefully, if not part of your wall paint will peel off, or worse the "pullable" section breaks.
  13. Hi! Could I have Henry's contact number? I am looking for a value for money ID/Contractor. Thanks! Ben
