It is the soft close type hinge. My renovation is waiting for the contractors to do some rectifications on the wall tile that is broken by the cabinet contractor and the installation of the glass doors and the hood cover. The wooden doors is already installed but need to adjust the tightness of some doors. It is progressing very slow.....
-
How to check the cabinet doors tight or not: 1. Gently tap on the corner that is opposite the hinges of door when the door is closed with your index finger 2. If there is a vibration and banging sound (knocking sound between the door and the cabinets), then the door is not tight. 3. There should be minimum vibration and sound when you tap the corner of the doors. Adjusting the hinges: See http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-Euro-Style-Cabinet-Hinges

Hi therat You are right, most of the cabinet contractor does not use the cover to cover the hole on top. Mine also does not cover, now waiting the cabinet guy to do the covering. If the hole is not covered, although the hole will be partly covered by the cabinet, but the oily air will flow into the cabinet and causes the cabinet to be oily and in long run, the heat from the oily air will spoil the cabinet. I have taken picture of the cover, I have just edited and post it below. The grey one is used to cover the hole on top. The black one is used to connect the ducting so as to channel the oily air to outside of the house for private properties but cannot be used in the HDB. Thanks for reminding me.

Sliding Kitchen Door Looking at the draft and the actual fabricated door. Any comments? I did face some problems on the workmanship of the door subcontractor, after some rectification, the paint work is improved. They initially spray only a few coats, which ended up very uneven and un-uniform; can see the wood gains, they try to touch up by using brush, it does not help because it create more paint lines that is difference from paint that is spray; nevertheless they are able to rectified by spraying three more coats on the site. Beside the paint work, there are other minor installation defects but I have accepted it as they are not obvious..... I was surprised that this door sub-contractor was used by some famous ID companies such as U........ with this type of workmanship. Must complaint to have it done properly... I do not know do other forumers have this problem or not. Kelvin comes down to see the problem and quickly arrange the door subcontractor to rectify the next day.

The Al swing doors below the kitchen sink have been rectified on last friday.. now, the doors can be closed smoothly ... The kitchen sliding door have been installed too, will post some pictures soon....
-
Thanks, things are moving very slowly, the Al door have not been rectified yet. How fast I guess is the relationship between the main contractor and the sub-contractor. I found the quality of the products and workmanship depends on Who is the sub-contractors the IDs/main contractors employed - it will determine the workmanship. The amount of profits the IDs/main contractors want to earn - that will determine the quality of the materials used. If you look at various quotation, it is not much differences. Will definitely post some pictures when some works are done. Hope everyone keeping coming back..... Keep my finger cross.... Hope to have a smooth renovation ....

Aluminium Work: To install Al swing with black acrylic panels. Problem: It looks nice, however the centre door does not close smoothly, but can be closed by some forces. Cause: Close investigation finds that the centre and bottom rivets on the centre door is blocked by the left door panel. As a result there is some scratches on the left panel. Have informed Kelvin, he will arange contractor to take a look tomorrow or next week. Rate : 6/10 (I does not expect any problem because it is a small job) Renovation is a very stressful thing indeed...... Hope everything goes smoothly.......

Plumber Job: Rate: 3/10 Comments: His job is to move the old washing basin to common toilet. This is a resquest from me and Kelvin agreed to do it FOC during the signing of the contract. The plumber is rough man; never take care of the floor (even it old), and the new tiles on the kitechen sink. I guess if he do it with care, he will not demage my old wall tiles at the basin area, I cannot said anything more - Overal disappointing on the way he did thing.

Tiling Job: Rate: 8/10 Comments: I am happy with the workmanship and the attitude of the tiler and his workers. They try to keep the place clean. But not matter what it is not possible, next time try to renovate before moving it is the best. Post some pictures: Now, waiting the comtractor to settle the electrical wiring and points.

The contractor Kelvin is using the EDL laminates. The EDL website is http://www.edleuro.com/ The EDL laminates is used by some top IDs in Singapore such as Vega, etc; furthermore they also win Singapore Prestige Brand award 09. Should be a good laminate...... We have decided to change the white laminate to something off-white near grey color. Our first choice is Gray Hugo from the Stardust series: Our second choice is White Nacre from the Stardust series: The Stardust series have shining spots that make the actual laminate looks much very brighter than the picture posted. Furthermore, it has glossy surface.
