We went around seeing many furniture over the past weeks...from west to east...from IFC, OM, Massimmo, Navinzi, Lush to Hommage...on few occasions nearly fished out my credit card but knowing that there's still another shop to visit, managed to fend off sales tactic like "today's sale price is last day or for this weekend only"...and zoomz off we go, kiv-ing the potential model...(fyi, 1 shop so called promotion price for that particular weekend lasted for many weeks when i noticed their newspapers advert...)
With the reno starting soon, it's time to confirm our furniture as we need to customise our sofa to maximise space...yesterday dropped by Hommage to look see...they have shifted a few shops away to 5 & 6 Tai Thong Crescent...spoke to boss, Eric of our design and amongst piles of catalogues, he showed us picture of similar design...knows the catalogues at the back of his mind man...
will be full leather and seating cushion is just 1 piece...we were choosing between L-shape or ottoman...Eric advised for variations, ottoman is good choice...
wifey chose round side table to go with the sofa...below can still put
rubbishmagazines ...initial plan for dining table is supposed to be like this...idea was from a fellow forummer...
but if families come over for a meal then not enough seating le...so got to scrap this floating table idea and looking for extendable table...1st saw extendable table at ikea, thought that's a done deal le till...Eric shows us some tables...we picked this design with black tempered glass...
was abit concerned on whether the extended glass can hold with just the screw-in design but Eric guarantee no issue...so gotta trust him for that...

Hi lazybum9,Have been following your t-blog. thanx 4 sharing.
But 1 question... why do you need to lay kitchen tiles? Isn't this already done for your flat?
cos the new tiles selected by developer's designer sucks big time... can't stand the dirty orange look which makes the floor dirty...hence we decided that has to go...so overlay over existing tiles to save cost on hacking...

hahahaa... i just passed that stage of choosing tiles and laminate.... and my laminate is not totally done yet as there is still a wardrobe in guest room that i have yet to decide.....So be prepared to spend at least 3-4 sessions of 3-4 hrs to choose laminate.
bring the catalogue home slowly decideI think for around 2-3weeks :Pp
wah can keep so long their catalogue ah??? we target to clear the laminate tml... sit down at new hse, visualise the end result...

Finally after 2 months of searching, today i confirmed my renovation to be done by...Willie from Room For Ideas Pte Ltd...thanks to all for providing help (their various IDs/contractors contacts) to me to search for the right one...imo all of them are good professionals, some of them are responsive and responsible to hand in quotes as promised dates which i really appreciate alot (and is an important factor to award contract too)...ultimately it's the bottomline that decides it all...
Met up with Willie to select kitchen tiles at hup kiong...really too many tiles and also don't know how to choose...took 45mins just to choose only 1 kitchen tile...can't imagine if i got to choose whole hse tiles...phew...too engrossed in choosing that we forgot to take photo of final choice... now got to headache over laminates for console, vanity cabinets, study table & cabinets...

agree.. if really wanna have a kitchen island, lazybum9's idea is nt bad at all!the reno is gonna be there for the next few years, so do something that you really want ya!
work around the restrictions and cost. am sure some brainstorming with your id will inject new ideas
totally agree! it's $$ well spent when u get to see things around the house done the way u love...
for the moveable island, not sure why it's gg to load ur wallet much cos without the island, u still got to do cabinet...so the cost of that portion of cabinet can be sub with say a stainless steel moveable island...lower section of island can be storage too...do talk it thru with ur ID...

DAY 1 : HACKINGTODAY IS THE DAY!!! My renovation started today.... but surprisingly, i was not excited at all. I might get excited after i see everything being done up nicely. So, gave a call to my contractor this morning and he told me they already started hacking.
Once its lunch time, i quickly went to buy some tibits then went over to the flat.
Saw 3 indians resting in the bedroom and i cant go in. Everything was all over the place and me in my high heels, can't even walk on top of all the mess..... so passed to them the tibits and take some photos then left the flat. Before i left, they started hacking again and i can hear the loud sound even after i walked to the next block. I wonder how my neighbours would feel.... hope they will not be too upset with me but bear with the noises......
Since i went over during lunch time, i don't know what else they have done in the afternoon. But pretty amazed that 1 morning able to hack up so much.
CONGRATS lady!!! day 1 use tibits to bribe the workers ah...good for u... looknig forward to more pics...

good idea... why don't you try that? i never asked my contractor to do that and no one does that maybe cos its too ex??i heard mosaic tiles are exp...maybe that's why...gg to tiles shop this week to choose kitchen tiles...see see mosaic is really exp not same time...

then what are you going to do? change lock too??met a locksmith on sunday when he was installing padlock for my neighbour...he also scoffed at the gate design...never seen such clever ones before...anyway he told me ~$70 to change lock, for better quality ones ~$100...think that's abit on the high side...but that seems to be my only option...unless someone can help to enlighten on my plight...
-
oh i see.... your door is so special... hahahah..... how does everyone in your floor does it?some units have the small sections on the right so they can use padlock...smart designer dunno why wanna have 2 diff designs for the gates...so far those like my case hand over either the main door or gate key to ID, after reno plan to change the lock for security reason...

yes, my kitchen sink at the far end, can't put it near as my kitchen cabinets is all full height. Have told my husband about a sink at the island..but he rejected my planwhy not a sink at the island...centrally located area leh...but how to run piping there ah???

Ok, you have my reply to this in the other thread but, what I think you need to realise is that Opennet supports the fibre to the door and the TP. From the TP to the TV is your providers responsibility so Starhub, M1 or Singnet. You really need to ask them rather than opennet.RB
i did checked with singtel and they do provide cabling and trunking if needed...quite exp laying of cables + trunking...so i decided to lay and conceal cat6 from my DB box to livingrm...do let me know on your side...thanks...

If you checkout the hinges in the picture I would guess the gate hinges on the left and the small and big sections are also connected by hinge so the gate opens on the right next to the gate frame. As there are no holes in the gate frame the gate cannot be secured to it.Padlock and chain between the gate and door handle if you have one of the loop types on the front door. The gate opens out and the door would usually open in so they would pull against each other with a chain linking them.
Bottom line though is that it is up to your ID to work out access for his workers and he is responsible during the renovation process for securing the property. If they need to be on site every day to let workers in then that is what they need to do.
Our gate was padlocked but some workers wrote the number on the wall by the front door.... . We had words with our ID and it never happened again.
RB
i have not spoken to ID of this matter yet...thought of delivering some appliances towards the end of the reno but with this issue, think will only take delivery after all my reno fully completed and unit handed over back to me...
-
what you mean? why you can't use padlock?May, see below pic...my gate swings out from the right...next to it is the door frame le, no place for me to use padlock...
-
with the design of my main gate, i'm still cracking my head how to secure my place when reno is ongoing... no way to use padlock and chain...

last but not least is the dining chairs...wifey loves this chair alot...so much that we got 5, 1 as study room chair...
besides getting so many stuffs for the day, what makes me is the price we paid for them...cool $2700 for the lot of items...i think it's a steal man...don't think i can find such good deal elsewhere le so confirmed though we still got sanctuary dian to visit...we actually did visit dian but they were closed on thursdays & fridays...lazy to make another trip down and furthermore the building where dian is located in is out-of-this-world man...passenger lift spoilt...cargo lift is manned by old uncle who got to pull shut the doors... where to find this nowadays man...
