  1. Hi Freb, consider splitting your 1 door into 2 to not hit the ac? You can put a shelf on top.

notice this room is not scandinavian theme, ID suggested more modern feel, else the whole house full of wood =p so we picked this fabric like laminate

again, you wldn realise the design problem until u started using the product, but this case, i discovered early. when the wardrobe full height doors near the WIW entrance opens, it will hit the aircon, max 80% opening. A design flaw, and also we didn anticipate this...so we'll just let it be...

  2. Congrats! They might start doing sooner than u think

Haha, you are right, today when I visited my unit, I found pencil markings on the wall

can we appeal HDB for cement screed on homogeneous tiles or just for laminates?

  5. Just gotten my key to my long awaited BTO without flooring and doors...

    My floor plan...

    Sunshine Gardens 5rm BTO

With the opening of door etc, as usual I was greeted with various defects from hairline cracks on the wall, broken/chipped tiles, slanted socket points/ tap etc etc.
Have yet to decide on an ID, new updates from recommendations and blog.
    1) Kaze, a freelance ID(Previously Ciseern)<--- eliminated due to too much sales talk and over promising.(45k)
    2) Ted ID<---Still considering as one of the more professional ID, however budget constaint.(50k)
    3) Inside Story(Previously Inside Story Pte Ltd, Previously Summit Design)<---Too busy to entertain me.
    4) Renoguyz Nick(ty jasminnie)<--- too busy to entertain me, comes up with lame excuses like eye not good, assistant do the quote etc.
    5) SimpleReno Melvin<--- Too slipshort
6)Absolook Zhi Ying<--- Met him during their roadshows, 3 weeks later msg me cmi for the quote. Never heard of concrete support or platform using raised floor sucker to open etc.
After going through a few t-Blogs, eg: Freb, leonjennawong etc, I managed to get a few concepts and idea...

    MyHSE

After 2 months of filtering and interviewing, I have decided to engage Ace Space Design, Zion Yeow for my house renovation. Not only was she sincere(maybe cause staying nearby), she was also able to give me the lowest quote(literally squeezed dry) amongst all the other ID. Viewed her completed project and found the workmanship to be acceptable. Signed her last Saturday.

    Reserved for future updates...

  6. I've recently engaged a contractor who did my wet works, just checking if this is the norm, if not how do i get it rectified.

A contractor went door to door claiming he was engaged by hdb to do flat repainting and to check if the ceiling are leaking. I found out later that HDB list them as bogus contractors.

Power sense enterprise, Roy Tan 90952812 claimed that he is from some big company with various small departments handling different type of renovations. The one that does wet works will be power sense.

Toilet sewage pipe/kitchen waste pipe 900

    squatting to sitting bowl 650

    repiping stainless steel 1200

    dustbin cover foc.

The current stainless steel pipes are connected with copper joints, they informed that it was stronger as stainless steel joints are just plated. True?

My squatting bowl is not hacked away, just a pvc pipe covering the existing hole leading to the sitting bowl and sealed up with white cement. From what i know it is not per HDB regulations, but HDB did not want to commit that it is not the right way.

Currently my new toilet bowl area is "curved" in due to the design of water drainage to the squatting bowl, and with the worry of choke and slow water drainage, any ways for me to get the contractor to redo, or better refund the money as i do not have confidence in their works anymore.
