  1. My parents place is gonna go thru some major reno, mainly in the living room and the 2 bedrooms. We have furnitures / Electricals that needs to be packed, moved, stored and redeliver/unpack back to the hse aft the reno is over. Storage will be for approximately 1 week. Anyone has any movers in mind to recommend and also any estimation on how much it will cost ? There are so many movers in the market, i don't know who to start from. Some of them are quoting around 500 plus. Is that the market price now ? Don't u think it's a bit too expensive ? I really have no idea... i need help badly.... The items to move are listed below. 2 Queen size Bedsframes with mattresses 1 Dressing table 2 side tables 1 tv console 1 tv rack 1 computer table 2 Wardrobes 1 small cupboard (Atta) 1 long showcase display 6 dining chairs Electrical things: 1 Philips radio 1 29" Sony TV 2 DVD players 1 VCD player 1 SCV cable setup box 1 linksys router 1 motorola voice cable modem 1 HP all in 1 printer 1 stand fan Need around 15-20 boxes to pack cloths and other stuffs
  2. I saw bean bags at The Green furniture mall @ Alexandra Rd, next to Mitsubishi Car Showroom. If i'm not wrong at 3rd level. U can check it out there.
  3. Mine is tempered glass backsplash. So far no fungus. I make it a point to clean it after cooking each day. Usually with Magiclean Kitchen wipe to wipe out the oil and grime, afterwhich i'll spray glass cleaner and wipe with newspaper. Still shiny as new. So far no scratches and i don't think it'll break or shatter too. If i remember correctly, my ID quoted $150 for it. It covers the entire length in between the kitchen cabinets and not just the cooking area.
  4. The ID i took up was recommended by fellow forummers, so i called him up and met up. On the spot the ID gave me a rough pic of wat the design and theme is going to be. Took him abt a week to come back to me with the floorplan and proposal/quotation.
  5. Use cordless kettle to boil water as and when u want lor. Probably after the water cooled down, u can pour it into a jug or flask to store cold boiled water. I just turn on my cordless kettle when i want to make hot drinks, afterwhich i will turn off the switch. Me and hubby always drink tap water so we don't store boiled water. wow this is cheap man.... Mine on average around $110 for only 2 person Day time use only heater to shower, afterwhich hubby & me workin. Washing on alternate days Cooking about 3 times a week average PC usage is less than 2 hrs a day except for weekends we hardly use aircon bcos quite cold at night, mostly on fan only TV usage is less than 5 hrs daily except for weekends 2 door fridge Vaccum 4 times a week other appliances only use as and when needed. I think $110 each month is expensive for 2 person. But i've heard from many ppl that if u stay in a bigger hse, ur bills will be generally more expensive compared to the same amount of usage in those living in a smaller flat. Me in 5 room... maybe i should have bought 4 room Previously my bills were shooting up to around 120- 130 each month. I usually turn off the modem and cordless phone base when all of us going out and no one at home, like when u go to work. I noticed that has reduced a substantial amt in my bill. I'm using central heater (storage) for my hse. We turn it on only when we want to bath. Takes abt 3-5 mins for the water to get hot, after shower turn it off. The water still be hot for at least the next 5 to 6 hrs. We don't leave the heater turned on all the time. Saves alot of electricity. I don't have to turn it on each time i bathe. Just once in the morning when we shower and then it's still hot hours later.
  6. I was from Bedok North Pri, then went on to Siglap Sec Any Siglapians here ?
  7. It will definitely save cost to overlay instead of hacking the old ones out. I engaged Kelvin-G Plan for my hse and he brought me to the tiles factory. U can choose whether you want China or Italian tiles. Of course, Italian tiles are more costly as such u may have to top up some $$ if u choose them. China tiles are provided by them if u choose the package. My hse laid wz homogenous tiles made in China. So far no fading. But of course if u can afford, u can go for Italian. I'm sure they are of better quality than the China ones.
