  1. We r not aware of any site supervisor .. Henry has nv made known to us that there r any site supervisor for our Reno.. And we have nv seen anyone else who came .. Oh.. There was twice Henry brought 2 very young men to our house on the day we first met with the carpenter and recently again.. But it seems to us that Henry was guiding them on the job, rather than being our site supervisors. And we have never seen them both again.
  2. gd summary dear! haha we conclude that subcons are really nice ppl and easy to talk to. We always have the mentality that 'you steady with me, i steady with u'. and then, we will hope and pray for the best that nthg coks up. haha.. okies, enuf complaints for the day.
  3. Trust and faith - tts really what we had in Henry when we decided to engage him. He seems organized in his own way, and had controls over his subcons. Of coz we have done our research in renotalk and were very impressed with the jobs he did for several of the forumers. Now, on hindsight, I don't tink it's fair to totally discredit him for all his work. But, I believe he could have done MUCH MUCH more in terms of coordination, planning, management etc. Sometimes I feel that his answers to our questions are quite patronizing and he seems to have the tendency to overpromise, which results in an expectation gap. Now, we r just disgruntled customers and every single delay/problem just makes us more and more pek chek. We don't want to offend anyone, especially fellow forumers who are Henry's customers. We just want to give our point of view as another customer of henry.
  4. yea, thanks peeps for your comments. the eventual product (not quite eventual actually) seems pretty in line to what we wanted. the classic black-white feel. Had some misses at the laminate selection for some carpentry, but will live with it la Cant wait to see the eventual product after the rectifications. Everyday me and junwei will be asking each other when will be handover. then we will start getting paranoid why our reno process was so cmi. We had alot of discussions about "What went wrong", "How could this/these be averted" etc. We even wondered if the Dong Tu date was no gd for us! Any more problems/hiccups, think we will go crazy! haha
  5. +1 day after supposedly HO date.. And still got quite abit to go.. Study table, glass works and mirrors, solid surface to change, toilet doors, acid wash, painting rectification.. Testing our patience....................
  6. Really love your house! *drools at the big shoe cabinet* You can consider getting your house published in those decor magazines
  7. hahaha! ya, junwei is in love with ah liang!! but gotta admit, he is really GD!
  8. 2nd tiler already came and gone le. He already changed whatever he can le. I believe the rest are not rectified due to practical reasons etc. We will re-check the whole house again this wkend again. Haiz, what to do, first-time house owners, so will be particular over the biggest investment of our lives
  9. Hi Marshmallow, Our living room tiles are very ok. There are just a few uneven tiles which we can totally accept. The big prob is the mbr toilet, esp the wall tiles. Many tiles were uneven, and the feature black tiles were badly done too. The floor tiles are slightly better, despite I felt that they could be better laid. No rectification can be done for the floor tiles cos henry say will affect the waterproofing. We are also not satisfied with the jagged edges of the mbr toilet wall tiles. Our kitchen floor tiles also got jagged edges. At the very start, we tot it was poor grouting, then on closer inspection much later, realised it's jagged edges instead. We asked henry many times at different times whether is it due to the tiles being low quality but he say no. he say its the worksmanship. But I dunno the names of the tilers lei. must ask junwei liao.. He can click better with the subcons, haha For the installation of accessories, I think it should be the same guy as yesterday the one who came to clear the blockage cos we explained very clearly to him the positions and he listened attentively and also made his own markings on the positions. Hope the installation of my accessories will go well. Today carpentry should be fully up le.. no more cokups pls....
  10. Another incident of poor co-ordination and management Henry told us early this week to ask for delivery of the hob cos he wants to measure for the solid surface top. We thought that the measurement provided by Brandt brochure would suffice but he said that it's safer to measure the physical hob in case the measurement on the brochure could be wrong. Then he also say that the plumber would drop by to fix up all the accessories like toilet paper holders, hooks, hangers etc. He said that it's better for us to be around so that the plumber would not drill wrongly. He said that it is safer that we are around to tell him the positions of the accessories instead of just marking out the positions for the plumber. In addition, he will also drop by to show us the solid surface selection for us to choose. So, we took PM leave today and come 2 plus pm, he called and say that he cannot make it, without saying why. Then he say that he will leave the solid surface catalogue in our house tml, then we just choose. And then, when the plumber finally came at 5pm, plumber said that he is only instructed to come and clear the water blockage in our mbr toilet. He is not aware that he needs to fix up the accessories today. So we called Henry and henry actually said that nevermind, just mark out and the plumber wil know what to do. It's really !@#$%^! Feels **** cheated AGAIN. sighhh..
  11. As mentioned earlier, the meeting went ok. The original carpenter came and took some more measurements. We questioned why things drag till this late, but no explanations done. Felt like a tai-ji session, responbilities shoved all aside. After that, we had a talk with Henry too, and voiced out all our displeasure about the tiles, carpentry.. Will blog about the tiles later. Shall wait till the rectifications are done before I make any comments. Henry committed that the tiles will be rectified by today. Henry too, unable to provide any concrete explanations what went wrong during this whole ding-dong thingy. He only promised that he will monitor very closely and was very paisay about the delays. ok, shall see how's the progress from today going forward.. going to up my vigilance on checking the quality of the worksmanship of carpentry liao..
  12. chill dear.. 1.5 hours more to meeting them.. Let's see if they can provide us with the explanations.. else it's really
  13. thanks for the consolation and advice. agreed about the double edge sword thingy. difficult to juggle huh.. haha will consider about getting compensation for all the delays. Must be careful in bringing this sensitive topic across too. Our carpentry is at stake! this is a hiccup that we are facing, but what doesnt kill us makes us stronger right! *super positive thinking* Jiayou to us dear!
  14. Ya, we are going to be firm to set a HO date now. We have been asking him for a schedule on paper but I tink his style was just to give a daily update over phone. We can understand that he has other jobs on hand, but now our house seems to be the least of his priority. I believe communication somewhere had broken down, be it between him and his subcons, or that between him and us. We will almost go to our house every evening after work. And the house will seem almost the same everyday, little if not zilch progress. Now gotta call and ask all other deliveries of our bed/sofa/electrical appliances to take delivery later liao.. As u put it, I'm hoping too that we can really sort things out tonight, tho I remain skeptical Thanks for the consolation anyway, really appreciate it
  15. hi everyone, i'm junwei's fiancee and have been a silent reader all this while. However, all this ding-dongs have made us very pissed off and irritated. Our very first and big mistake made was to let Henry know that we are not in a rush to move into the new house. We thought that by not rushing him and his sub-cons, quality of work will not be compromised. However little did we expect that the entire reno will drag and drag and drag. Many reasons/excuses/explanations/stories were given along the way but our threshold were maxed out yesterday. Carpentry was only <20% completed and with the change in carpenter, I do not know if work will be delivered eventually. We will be meeting henry and the new carpenter this evening at our house to sort things out, and hopefully to set on a probable handover date (which we do not foresee it coming soon). Super disappointed
