**continued** Kitchen carpentries Counter for sink with dish-rack above.. Looks like there are ample space for plates and pans there.. Wok will have to go elsewhere though.. Our bosch oven!! Tray drawers.. At least he got it right this time One thing though, our soft-closing are some unknown brand ones when earlier we were supposedly promised any brand we wanted.. Told ID we wanted blum system, or at least hettich prior to reno began and he says "no prob".. In the end, we got soft-closing which barely worked.. Doors still have the "ta-dum-dum" sound when closing Immediately told him about it.. and he says he'll check with the carpenter.. Next day told us that he can only make do with Excel soft-closing.. Hettich will not have any warranty.. So guess we'll be going with Excel then.. Think warranty is quite important fr the soft-closing.. Not our first choice though.. Everything else looks good though.. Minus the fumes from the freshly finished carpentries.. WTB felt like crying everytime she smells it.. And finally now, we're at the current stage!! YAY!!

Ok ok.. WTB getting impatient and thinks i'm super long winded already.. Fast-forward.. 26/3/2011 Lightings all done!!! Living room LED down-lights With cove-lighting The cove lighting looks awfully bright though.. hhaha.. Carpentry for living room also almost done.. Just some minor touch-up to do.. The carpenter used the wrong laminate for the living.. So gotta wait for him to re-do it!! The middle drawer is one of those "lift-up, slide-in" kind.. Liked the concept.. But need to touch-up.. not as smooth compared to the MBR.. Overall, carpentry looks good MBR Are cove-lightings supposed to be this bright?? WTB and I just loved the laminates we chose for our MBR.. So shiny and love the grains!!

Yea.. and when you open with all 4 "fei's" inside.. Jeng jeng jeng.. can't get any better!!! Hahahaha.. Cannot la.. The way you type shows that you're a pro lorr.. How to compete?? Confirm donate to your reno fund liao!

Ahhh, can't forget the "fei"/joker card.. That's the most thrilling part of 3p mj.. An element of unpredictability.. Anyway, don't think there's a centralised vent.. So gotta connect a tubing to the outside of the house perhaps? But sounds like it's gonna be quite cluttered unless I relocate the hob and hood.. Oh no.. I sense a hustler here (i.e. May).. out to get some rebate for your reno eh?? hahaha

*continued* MBR False ceiling TV feature wall Dining feature wall (where a mirror will be placed) Oh.. these are the lights and fans we purchased the other day.. All hidden in the closet in case the workers tries to steal any...
-
*continued* Living False ceiling for living Can't really take a full pic.. Too big coupled with me having lousy camera skills... TV Feature wall First thing we noted was how high the display area is on top of the feature wall.. No one's gonna look at it at all if it's that high up.. Totally defeats the purpose Immediately highlighted to ID.. Next, I was wondering why was there a box at the tv console table.. Looked kinda strange to me Basically, it was designed this way by ID cos if not, the console table would've blocked the entire pathway.. Glad he did it that way. Was concerned about the pathway to the rooms earlier on.. Note: Anyone noticed how the aircond was switched to the corner of the room? was blocking the feature wall initially..

15/3/2011 Was a very unlucky day.. My laptop HDD got busted.. Lost all my important mail and files.. Thank god work was done in the server.. So at least the bulk of it was still retained... *phew* Anyway, took the rest of the day off and decided to check out my reno.. Chengai decking up for the balcony!! When I arrived, there was no one at the reno.. Hmm.. I've got a feeling the place was left empty for most days.. But well, I guess I can't expect his workers to be there 24/7.. So long as he can deliver a nice end-product.. Expected handover date is 16 March 2011.. Hope it's on-time.. Anyway, pictures of our chengai decking! Our chill-out/lounge section My mini gardening section.. The deckings are removable on this side of the balcony for cleaning purposes in case soil gets under it.. Initially, the thought was for us to get removable ones for both sides.. But then, when we saw the end product, realised that the lounge area is not removable.. Called him and he told us it can't be done on the lounge area cos that area too huge.. Not sure bout this but is this true? Anyways, wasn't happy that he made decisions without first informing us.. Secondly, apparently our balcony has a gradient.. As the decking was done up to make it level (i.e. 0 gradient), part of the chengai wood therefore juts out.. (refer picture below) Anyway, proposed to ID to put a frame around it.. Hopefully this would even out the outlook.. Or anyone else has any better suggestion?

*And another* Materials for the false ceiling and feature wall has arrived Getting really excited back then.. Was wondering how would our false ceiling would look like.. We're getting the drop-down kind of false ceiling with longkang's around it.. Had a little debate with ID about the size of the longkang.. He mentioned a standard size of 1ft(?). Can't remember.. But initially, we wanted larger so that it would look more apparent.. Anyways, in the end we decided to fall back to his proposal cos the electrician strongly agrees with ID's proposal.. 2 experts against 2 lay-mans.. they win! No idea which is which.. But getting excited (back then.. ).. Ok.. sleeping time now.. WTB complaining.. kekek

*continued from previous post* Roofing for the WIW Changed it to some solid plastic thingy (can't remember what's it called).. ID said that this is better than the previous one cos it's more solid.. The previous one would make a racket when it starts raining whilst this will not.. Actually went over at night recently and saw the roof.. Looks really good actually.. Nice as a starlight window.. Hehehe.. But too bad it's at the WIW.. wouldn't want any indecent exposure now would we? Kitchen tiles done Kitchen tiles done up.. Can't really judge how good is it.. Really dirty.. Noticed a tile leading from the kitchen to the back toilet is a little sloping upwards.. But it's fine I guess.. Can live with that.. Elsewhere seems fine.. Mortar base Remembered reading someone's blog that the mortar base was not done up evenly.. So made an effort to check it out after it was done.. The mortar base was not done up evenly.. Look at the gap when I press it down!!!! Immediately called the ID and complained about it.. Anyways, it has supposedly since been resolved by the ID (as represented by him).. COuld't confirm it as I was too busy working.. Sigh.. Anyways, too late to check now cos the kitchen carpentries are already up.. Hope he really lives up to his words.. Wouldn't want any ants/lizards/cockroaches to set up base between the gaps!!

Hi Ely1 Actually, the lighting plan wasn't this comprehensive.. It was all discussed and mostly dealt with by the ID and electrician.. I just put it up in the floor plan for blogging purposes.. Hahaha.. I don't think we had much say in the lightings.. He proposed, and we agreed and maybe, altered a lil.. hehehe Tampoi Lighting Centre is much recommended if you go.. I spoke to this guy called Ang.. Was really knowledgeable and proposed good suggestions! Anyway, of course your place costs so much more.. It's so much larger!!

Ermm.. Not me.. I'm always working.. More of WTB.. she seems so eager to hold parties.. But I don't think it'll last.. It's probably a phase for her.. Knowing her, she'd much rather bunk at home under her blanket watching her series.. (like what she's doing for the past 4 hours.. kekeke) Anyways, can can can.. But I only know how to play 3 player mj.. keke.. Lol.. Can it be thaaaat bad?? Close the doors and windows! That should solve it right? Anyway, I've been told that my condo is VERY quiet at night.. Scary thought eh?
-
Haha.. Actually, we don't cook thaaaat much.. But always liked the thought of it.. and err.. it's a recirculating one.. Is it thaaat bad? Hahahaha Anyway, the cleaning part, (especially hard to reach area), is gonna be my job.. Sigh.. Well, the fridge, it's to prepare for the future.. I mean, how often does a person changes the fridge anyway? Ans we plan to start a family after we get married.. Oh no.. THe WIW.. I can practically picture WTB doing more online shoppings now.. Hmmm.. Then again, don't think it would make any difference cos we have 2 other unoccupied rooms where she can put her clothes in.. Bleah.. Guess it makes no difference then.. Hahaha.. ANyways, if not a WIW, I can't imagine anything else being at that obscure area of the house.. And WTB already has lots of old/unused clothing stuffed in her wardrobe.. LOL.. so no diff! Thanks for the heads up though.. Appreciate much..

6 March Cement screeding (did I use the right term?) of the WIW View of the wall that is going to be part of the WIW The other half of the WIW (it's going to be an "L" shaped one) The wall has been patched up.. No leaking water in sight.. Thank goodness.. But not too worried about this.. I'm sure the ID knows what to do.. Electricals Worms hanging from the living room ceiling This would be for our 16 T5's and 10 LEDs.. I was quite overwhelmed looking at so many wires hanging from the ceiling.. Haha.. These parts of the ceiling are going to be covered by a false ceiling.. So no internal wiring required.. Study room lights No idea how he actually dig a hole from the fan through to the other side of that hideous pillar.. Was quite amused.. Anyway, that would be where my 2 study lights be at... P.s. Sorry for the inconsistencies of photo sizes.. Too lazy to resize some of them.. haha Oh, also, i actually posted awhile back on some more recent updates.. Then realised I skipped a week or 2.. haha..

Yea.. I think they are too.. The condition of the condo totally differs from the other neighbors units I've seen.. Too bad we couldn't visit other neighbors before signing the S&P.. But in any case, I think our neighbors wont like us much too.. hahaha.. Every other unit there comprises mostly of middle aged family with kids and stuffs.. WE'll probably be the noisy couple of the development.. Kekekekee

Yah yah.. cannot whine so much.. Later you'll be labelled like me!!! Anyways, I think vertical tiles makes the ceiling looks higher while horizontal would be wider? -
PM-ed! Oh, when I was shopping in JB, noticed that most furniture co's does free delivery to Singapore.. Not bad eh? And with regards to OM, overall, in the showroom, the products look fine.. The person who served us was quite nice too.. I went there on a Tuesday looking for furnitures.. She actually told me not to buy now as they will be having a sale come weekend.. Gave her my contact and she called me on Friday to remind me!! Talk about good service.. But she's a little blur when we were signing the invoice.. Kept writing the wrong information and she even calculated the wrong selling price after discount.. But thankfully it was to our advantage.. Hahaha.. We fess-ed up but she says nevermind.. lol.. I think we were pretty difficult customers.. The free gift then was a mattress.. Though when I tried it, it felt like sleeping on the floor!! haha.. So we wanted to change to a better quality for our guest room.. Off she goes to make calls and approval for that.. Eventually, she got it.. But we gotta top up an additional $700 for it.. Tried to bargain further but she wouldn't budge.. Pondered on it for awhile and concluded it was too exp (we were on a budget constraint).. So we continued walking around and saw some carpets we liked and decided to change the free gift into a carpet instead.. She was quite patient with us and off she goes to make some phone calls again.. In the end, we got a discount for the carpet!! Though, thinking back, I think we saw cheaper carpets around.. ****.. Consequences of being kiasu.. Anyways, heard some pretty bad things about OM delivery service.. One of our friend placed an order around December.. delivery was supposedly after CNY.. But to-date they still haven't received it.. Apparently the goods has not yet been shipped in~!!

Hmmm.. I think it's too late.. Cos the kitchen carpentry's are going up (or already has gone up) Actually, I think initially we wanted to change it too.. But the ID says it's really not necessary (cos he didn't know we're getting such big kitchen eq's.. hahahah).. But well, the tiles actually looked quite nice.. Has a very nice matte texture on it.. But you're right about movable items can get a cheaper one for now whilst permanent fixtures, should get a good one once and for all.. hmmm... but too late now.. We've actually bought all our furnitures and eq's. Really?!?!? Gosh.. I didn't know that maintaining it is that difficult... But we were prepared to let it take up cupboard space.. We liked the idea of having a chimney hood.. But I guess we just never thought that far.. But then again, I think we would've still went for a chimney hood if we knew that... I still like a chimney hood.. heehee.. suction power's better too! And I thought the metal filter should be able to filter out the oil from getting inside the hood"? Though, about my kitchen being crowded.. You have a very good point there.. Hmm.. But sigh.. I could do with a smaller fridge.. But WTB wasn't gonna budge.. "The kitchen's MY area" she says.. Anyway, as you can see in previous photos, my kitchen is actually kinda small.. Hmm.. ****.. Should've updated more frequent.. Maybe then we wouldn't have been too late..

Is it??? U quoted me maa.. So I assume you were talking about mee.. Anyways, I blame my WTB cos she's been calling me a whiner.. bleah!!

Re-tiling of kitchen Our first visit to the place (prior to purchase), the kitchen actually looked in good condition.. But subsequently, it just went horribly wrong.. **** ex-owners.. Cos they rented the place for 2 more months after signing the S&P <In totality, we waited for 5 months till we officially got the keys>, they must've trashed the place cos they knew it wasn't theirs anymore.. The kitchen was in horrible state.. Oil marks all over the kitchen.. Floor tiles badly stained with dirt.. They probably never maintained the house at all.. When I turned on the hood, the whole kitchen started smelling like OIL!!! WTH right?!?! We weren't planning on overhauling the kitchen.. But I guess, that left us with no choice.. Anyway, we paid a visit to a neighbour subsequently and saw their kitchen in REALLY good condition unlike ours*envy*.. All except the floor tiles though.. For some reason, the developer chose some really lousy tiles. It stains easily after a few years and these black stains are not removable.. So more things to add to our already straining budget On 22/2, went for tiling selection.. Took us less than 15 minutes to get the tile we wanted.. Initially, we wanted a rustic looking tile (much like BlurRhino's ).. But the ID suggested a few others and we decided to be a little bolder and try something different!! WTB immediately fell in love with his suggestion. SO we went for it The tile we chose for our kitchen! We liked it cos it gives a very futuristic look to the kitchen.. Also, it makes the kitchen a little more alive cos its shiny!!! kekeke.. The texture is quite rough though.. But at least, no one will be falling down in the kitchen if it's wet.. My only concern was maintenance.. Due to the texture of it, I guess it would be pretty hard to clean.. ID initially proposed to use a different tile for the mortar base for washing machine and fridge.. Sounded like a good suggestion with the details and all.. But subsequently, after comparing side by side, this would make the kitchen too complicated.. Cos the tile we selected was already shiny/bright (even though it's black ).. Oh well, scrapped the idea.. Though, I still think it would look nice.. But in the end, since the kitchen is not my area, WTB will have the final say..

Hmm.. Thought that, well, since it's a new building, might as well just provide that facility right? Call it, an investment Hahaha.. Well, who knows right? OMG!! Am I now labelled as a whiner cos of my previous post?!?!?!? This is bad repo.. gotta shake it off.. :furious:
-
Haha.. I don't know.. Guess we weren't exactly in good terms with the ex-owner after he handed over.. lots of lies and stuffs if u read the earlier post... :curse: Anyways, tell that to valerie.. Kekeke.. She was whining about it when I showed her the photo.. LOL Yeaps.. Terrace houses and bungalows.. But I don't get the reasoning why no citigas to landed estates.. Food for thought anyone?

Oh, btw, if anyone notice the pool of water in the WIW photos.. Spoke to the ID about it and apparently his workers accidentally burst through a pipe connecting to the WIW.. But he guaranteed that there will not be any leakages and shouldn't affect other areas of the house.. Fair enough.. Afterall, we wont need water connecting to the WIW.. Hopefully this wont come back and kick us in the @$$..
