  1. Thks for the compliment. =) True.. most swing chairs are made of rattan (natural or artificial). Perhaps you'll have better luck in shops specializing in outdoor furniture.
  2. Thanks for the compliment. =) Actually I would prefer one with a head support too! Personally, I like chair/sofa with lumbar & head support. But since my WTB is the one who is likely to use the chair more.. and she doesn't mind at all that it has no head-rest, we decided to take it. As for the chair stand, we decided to just put it in one of the empty rooms since we got ample space (for now ). Intend to use it as a hammock for our future baby. LOL Alternatively, one can sell it to 'garang guni'.. but expect to get only a few dollars back. -_- My swing chair costs me $299.
  3. Hey nimm12, Can advice what would this type of plastic sheet called? Thanks.
  4. Hihi, Any advice? Anyone tried tiling for the main doorstep area only?
  5. I face the same concerns as moissanite2 too.. Getting a chandelier for my dining area and intending to install a dimmer switch. Was told by staff in a lighting shop that for dimmer function to work.. it requires non-energy saving bulbs. So if each non-energy bulb is 25W, and my chandelier has 5 bulbs.. = 125W consumption everytime I on the chandelier?! (that's is x3 the wattage of a normal 40W CFL lamp) Same goes for my living hall L-Box. We're keeping the L-Box done up by ex-owner. It has 13 downlights. If we use the Philips PLC 10W bulbs, does that = 130W of energy consumption? Can the dimmer still work if we are using these energy-savings PLC Philip bulbs? Our dimmer is of 500W. Good enough? Thank you.
  6. Thanks thera. My FIL (whom worked as electrician before) is helping us with that.
  7. Here are my swing chair pics. =) Going to install it at a corner of my living hall (by the windows, near the platform).
  8. Hi All, Is it possible to 1) extend existing electrical wires by connecting to another wire? 2) split one electrical pt into 2 (ie; use a new wire to tap electricity from existing one) I understand it would be easier if I just do a whole hes re-wiring (aka start from pt zero), but my existing wires are concealed in L-box and cornies.. and I don't wish to hack them away. Can the above 2 be done? Thank you!
  9. Hi moissanite2 & rickoveron, Thanks for the info! I will check-out the shops. And for the pic, will try to post later tonite
  10. Hi moissanite2, Can pm me the contact of the rattan shop? I would like to buy the parts from them. My contractor asked us to get the parts ourselves and kept discouraging us from hanging the chair.. =( I got the feeling he's not keen to help us mount the chair. Hah. (the furniture shop that sold us the chair isn't of any help too..) Thanks!
  11. Mm.. Depending on the design theme of the hse, it might not blend in.. But compared to putting it in the balcony, it would be more comfortable having the swing-chair indoor.
  12. Hey, so nice of you to post the pics here. Great! I'll show my contractor the pics. Thanks alot. =)
  13. Hey moissanite2, Does your rattan chair's hanging portion looks like the below pic? The 'chair+chain' can be easily detached from the spring & metal base. your ID using one of the below hooks to hang your chair? Thanks! Types of Hooks
  14. Thks eden. I'll call and check it out.
  15. Hi, Has anyone tried install hanging rattan chair to the ceiling of HDB flat? Any restriction on only certain area of the ceiling is allowed, other than the L-box/false ceilings? Thanks!
  16. Hihi, Anyone tried on your own, to run a cable from the SCV pt in living hall.. to another room? If I connect the cable directly from the port without using a splitter at the SCV box, does that mean the data transfer rate won't be compromised? I also intend to use the 'Belden rigid coaxial cables (black color)' which Starhub contractor uses. Cuz it would costs $130 to engage Starhub appointed contractor for the installation. Wanna save some $.. Any advice? Thanks!
  17. Thanks for ur explanation collins.
  18. Hi, I was told by a Choo Chiang staff that dimmer lights need to have special ballast installed at the lamp, in order for dimmer to work. Another staff from a different lighting shop told me, as long the bulbs are non-energy savings type, the dimmer will work. And lets say if a non-energy saving bulb has an output of 15W.. and my chandelier/cornice is going to install 5 of these. Does that mean when the chandelier/cornice light is on, it is using 15W x 5 amt of electricity? That's quite alot considering the largest 'hamburger' light only uses 40W.. Thank you.
  19. Hey all, Just to check the following? 1) How do we know if contractor has done the chemical washing? Is it for the whole house, or just the area with floor tiles (which is kitchen, toilets for my case) 2) For the ppl doing laminate flooring (layover existing floor tiles).. are they obliged to wash-up/wipe the floor.. or just brushing away of stones is good enough? Thanks!
  20. Hi All, I'll be using laminate flooring for our hall. However we are worried the main door area will get alot of water during cleaning by HDB contractor. As you know.. the cleaner uses high-power water jets and sometimes water does seep into the house.. Any way to remedy this issue, other than change flooring to tiles instead? =P my WTB suggested we lay tiles for the area at the main door, but we both agreed that will look kinda weird. Any advice? COntractor will be doing up the laminate flooring next Mon! Pls help! Thks.
  21. I bought an office-chair from them lately. Didn't encountered any late-delivery issue, and quality looks fine to me. Indeed, vhive price is slightly cheaper than most shops. I'm considering getting my computer desk from them as well. =)
  22. Hi all, As you know, the HDB appointed cleaner will come by every month to wash the corridor floors. They usually use the super-duper-strong water spray. Would this damage the part of laminated flooring which is outside the main door? I'm worried of water seepage. Any owners whom do laminated flooring for living halls, face this issue? Thanks alot!
  23. Mm.. there are times one when would like to seek opinions.. after gathering more info, then make an informed decision. That's what this FS forum is abt, isn't it? =)
  24. Thanks all for the inputs. Seems the FS opinions given all differs quite alot.. i.e.; go for practicality consideration instead. =) yes, I would definitely go for min 3 stoves.. in case 1 get spoilt, I still have 2.
