  1. Lol, You saw that study desk with the slanted drawers too!?!?! Well, come to think of it, any edge will still be "dangerous". Be it a 90 degress edge or a 45 degress edge. It depends on how and from which angle does that part of the body strikes that edge. If one is to slip and have the person's head hit the slanted drawer(as shwon in the 3D), the person's head might just have a bump due to the flat surface of 45 degrees. It would be different if it was a regular flat drawer that has a 90 degrees edge. My newphew to be had tripped and ram his open mouth into the edge of a glass coffee table which awarded him 1 X very bad cut on his inner lips. So if it a angle surface, he might have smack his face onto it which i believe would be less painful(but still pain of course!) due to a wider surface area upon impact. Conclusion is, put safety bumpers(Ikea) for all corner edges, cushion all edges with armaflex class 1 insulation! Jokes aside, the house is where kids will inccur most of their injuries from base on some study I had read donkey years ago. So as parents or parents to be, we would make it as safe as possible till a certain extend. Don't be totally restricted in the design of your home kay!
  2. Ya i totally agree with ya. I saw connox stuffs last time while searching for my lights and they have quite alot of interesting stuffs! Take note that some website will ask ya for identification. Just to share, there is this pain in the arse website which i was trying to buy lights from 'yanko design', they wouldn't ship to vpost cos my ID doesn't match the address given.. After multiple tries and explaning to them to show them my ID/print screen of my vpost account for them to link the dots, they still refuse! ^$#&*^# It was a total waste of time dealing with them and waste of $$ due to the exchange rate when they refunded me.. I hope connox doesn't have this issue.
  3. Hi MeWoWa, thanks alot. Hope it helps ya. Not that i wanna pour cold water over ya but the sad truth is somethings will turn out likewise. =S I must say that it is a tiring process as we newbies on their reno journey will never expect the unexpected! lol
  4. Hi Adiaem, thank you. We saw a furniture from Grafunk that gave us the idea of having the drawers slanted but like what most had mentioned. Well with reasons like saving up space, simple and safety. We decided to have it flat. Slanting inwards also possible which IMO also looks cool.
  5. Well, over the weekend, we were sort of role playing the usage of the MBR with the layout of the sinks and boy oh boy oh BOY!! We didn't check the depth of the sink and the door wouldn't be able to open/close.. The depth for the sink area is much smaller in the MBR(42cm) as compare to the CBR(48+cm). What nonsense are those designers thinking of.. That leave us the option of choosing sinks with a depth of 42cm or less. Heng my ID was driving a 7 seater car, I asked him for a favor to help me transport the long sink back to Ikea for a plate of meat balls! Also, the brick wall is up!!
  6. LOL nice! I hope this helps, I just bought the only DNA replica from a shop in JB for like around RM$315. Balestier is selling it for around SGD$220, turning into balestier from Thomson Rd, it's the first few shops on the left. If buying from overseas, the price for DNA should cost slightly more. I can't really recall from which website. I hope you got it at a decent price if not dun think so much and enjoy the light! =)
  7. Hi sfk7, thanks for the tip. Your reply is almost similar to others, lighter = bigger. the wall will be white for sure, just pondering what to use for the wardrobes. The rooms build newly by HDB aren't that big. Gotta bang a wall and build another to expand the space for the MBR. .
  8. Votes are tie @ 4:4. Guess i will remove the slanted drawers. a couple of ppl are saying the same thing.
  9. Wah! So the lighter one ah? Ya it will take up space also..
  10. Guyz, I would appreciate if you could provide some feedback between the two choices below as we can't decide which to choose How bout the slanted edge for the drawers nice? Darker wardrobes (black/grey) Lighter wardrobes (white/grey) slanted drawers nice?
  11. sorry for not updating, been busy preparing for an event. Well my ID just What's App me this afternoon saying the wet works are completed. Initially I'll be meeting him and his carpenter and electrician tomorrow to discuss the works but his electrician SMS him saying he couldn't make it.. Took leave for it then like that.. I just bought 2 x one way gang socket box for the subwoofer point (RCA). Also bought an optic cable for opennet. I'm gonna lay this cable before opennet comes(ETA DEc 2011 - Feb 2012) as I dun wish to see so much expose trunking. I dun think it will be easy to pull the fiber optic cable if I'm gonna lay the conduit. Too much bends to pull it through.
  12. Sand and conrete blocks pilling up in the living room for the wall. The GROM shelfing. Warning! It may look simple installing this but even though it was done by I, Me and Myself... It was freaking tired installing this but at the end of it, it feels GREAT acomplishing this and seeing the woody shelfing. Some tips, measure twice, do it once.. But I didn't expect to face so much issues fixing this up.. Height of sockets being block by shelf, shelfing of straight and corner units clashing due to space restriction. Don't fix angle shelfing outside the HHS, do it inside! Haiz, stubborn mule within me who is so lazy to drive back home to get a power tool to get the job done faster and with less effort.. The left side of the HHS is left empty for taller stuffs like ironing board and vaccum cleaner. Maybe I would add higher shelves in future. I would be adding another corner shelf if they sell it in singles as i find it a waste of space to leave the corner lower than the right. There are other options of shelfing from Ikea, like the IVAR system. Or you could check out Howard Storage which also have a great catalogue. For the GROM system, the price is quite comparable with those grey metal frames support with wooden board as adverstise in the lifts or around te new estate, it stated it will support 100KG or so but I won't be placing stuffs that heavy and we find the looks of it unpleasing. We somehow have a No GO for metal legs in our furniture.(less the computer chair)
  13. Some updates, the damage pipe was fix some welding, the aircon guys who damage it can't weld with the tools they had on them hence gotta get a professional plumber with the proper tools and pressure testing equipment. This thing giving me headache mann.. =S Hacking of the wall between MBR and CR1. It will be great to have the wall gone for good but we still require to have the CR1. The red drawing under the right window is where the wall would be build, the MBR would gain an additional 3ft +/-.
  14. Hi Porpupine12trade, thank you. The power sockets are build under the table with a lobang to place 4-way gangs inside at the back of the table top. The red arrows indicate where the cables will be run through. Pardon my lousy mouse/trackpad drawing.
  15. Hi Strikingreality, thank you. It is a fun and tiring process with those endless search for furnishing. My ID is Douglas from Fervor Design, you can contact him at 97707370. He will be overseas for the next 3 days but he said can still call him if got issues with my reno which hopefully dun't need to. Wah you have found those vintage furniture shops at BKK? They should be able to ship it to you. Maybe you can check Chic Republic next time you are there too. http://www.chicrepublicthai.com/
  16. Wah!! Of course useful!! Really appreciate it mann
  17. Hi Iloverainydays, thank you and thanks for the tip. I just did a measurment on the floor plan, approximately 50cm-60cm of space from the chair to the bed, also depending how far we sit away from the desk.. Worst come to worst, there will be sufficient space for us to crab walk across.
  18. Well, the wirings for lightings, fan and speakers has been done up with some minor hiccups. MY ID advised to install the fan direct to the ceiling instead of the false ceiling, hence a swap in orientation of the false ceilings as we wanted the ceiling fan to blow air towards the dining area. Conceal wiring for the lovely fan. I will post a photo of this lovely after it is installed. The minor hiccups. Doesn't it look weird? Looks like a worm sticking out of the wall. Well maybe I didn't made it clearly to the electrician, but since i wanted it conceal, i assume it should have a one-way gang box. No biggie, my ID will inform his electrician to amend it to a one way gang. The sound guy will install the socket plate the next time.
  19. It has been awhile since i updated this, well some of the kitchen appliance had been sent over, ikea stuffs like the sinks and store room GORM shelves. Fujioh hood FX900, hob FG772SVGL and Bosch built in oven HBN331E2J. I prefer the looks of other hoods but this hood won me over due to this Most hoods usually describe about how good their suction power is but hardly mentioned how well it ability to absorb/capture the fumes/oil moisture in the vapour itself. The FX900 got 83% of oil/fumes absorption rating with a "cup" to contain the oil. Having a open kitchen, this function/technology makes more for us to choose this. The Gorm shelves which i DIY to install.. Tiring process which took me around 3 hours in total over 2 separate days as I ordered the extended height support another day. Also i need to reconfigure it as one of the lowest shelf was hitting the powerpoints sockets.. I couldn't show the finish pic as it's too dark with a non flashlight hp cam, I will take a photo of it over the weekend with a proper cam.
  20. Tks Abby, so there is a strong to put the optic fiber cable through the conduit or are you laying Cat 5e/6 cable?
  21. Hi Abby, may i ask where you install your OpenNet trunking? From which which point to which point? concealed within false ceiling or those visible trunking?
  22. Hi hi neighbour =) , could you share your lobang for the sliding angle shower screen? I find this very useful.
