  1. Hellooooo Sygnur!! Nice to see your blog in here love the inspiration you have for your kitchen, really v nice and zen (maybe its just that im a sucker for natural tones and woody grains stuff). Way to go!
  2. Hubs and I were doing up the house over the weekend. He continued his woodworks while i set up our xmas tree. There! It looks a bit naked for now, I will be getting up nice and pretty soon! Oh yes, we have our 3 tier cabinet and chairs ready.. waiting for the other items to trickle in over the month.. Looks like its going to be a busy week getting my photography works up and marking out the spots to hang them.
  3. Morning adidaem! sry to respond so late. Been awfully busy. Moving over will be real soon, we are just finalising some essential stuff before we can move in. Well, the curtains are up. Take a look at the colour theme of the bedside of our MBR. the wardrobe have been shown in earlier posts.. soon when hubby is free he will mount our room tv. The room doors cannot be made as its the industry's crazy period,no one is available to make it to his customisation. we will be doorless for a while, just the way I like it. things yet to be bought or made are bedside tables/lamps, baskets for my toiletries. the blinds are up too. deep woody colour to go with our house. Boy is it solid, so heavy and wont flip around when the wind blows in.. (ignore the ladder) come this weekend, I can take a proper pic.. it was too late last night n too tiring to shift the things aside to have a proper picture.
  4. Yes, near 100%. We have a bit more work to do before its livable, then the other non-vital furnitures like sofa and coffee table will come in after we move in (meaning, after the husband is free and have time to make them. I didnt want to have any doors in our home except of the main door of cos! its nice this way, as the threee of us, hubby, doggy and myself can walk ard freely (without having to open, shut door behind us.) But he said its needed cos of aircon. obviously telling me that he needs to slp with it on while i dont. So.. we are still undecided on what door. Need to sit him down and discuss. Hope to get updates on ur DIY projects, its going to be so fun to create something by hand. Enjoy the process, Revox88!
  5. Wow! Ur project as in you do them urself too? I asked hubs, he said thats pine wood. Hope this info helps
  6. Thank you Sygnur! I will be sure to look for the right rail and stuff this weekend.. I went over and took a picture of an almost complete MBR feature wall! Hubby just need to do up one more strip at the bottom and the skirting AND we can mount out TV up!
  7. Good morning all! I know I said I wouldnt post photos og the kitchen but i really cant wait! It is about 80% complete! 20% of itsy bitsy things to work on. The dark-stainless steel theme is what I always wanted. Its sleek, easy to clean, easy to tidy up. There are lots of storage so, fraid not! Ive grown up in a household where we were lucky to have lot of snacks, cookies all squashed together in tupperware containers. Our kitchen ended up being very messy! we would drive our mum crazy by leaving crumbs all over on the tabletop, on container's cover,in grooves on the table top! and then.... there were stains and ANTS and midnight lizzards! Hence, this grooveless, stainless steel will not trap crumps or dusts, easy to clean and sterilize! Best, I can do baking on it! I wont be afraid of the dyes, butter staining it or whatever. Well, all it not perfect, this top will have scratches overtime. Maybe some ppl wont like it, stainless steel with scratches will look 'used' just like those bakery. So im ok with it. The only major thing left it to have a rail stretching from one end another. On it, I can hang my spices, kitchen gadgets and commonly used wares. They would help decorate the backing yet have their own functions with easy access. It will be something like in this pic but much longerof course!
  8. The progress have been sloooow.. but still moving a long a bit by a bit.. I started to shift in some stuff, the stainless steel backing of my kitchen backsplash (is this wat it is called?) is up! I wanted to snap a picture of it, but i decided to wait till the other accessories are up before putting it up here, cos now it look bare n sterile! Next up is room feature wall, hubby is going to find sometime to do it manually. He have cut the materials, worked on it, stained it to how he want it to be and next, he will be putting it up. I'll be sure to post this up when its done. Seems like I'm not doing much except to source for accessories for the house. This will be shown when everythign is done up! Update: TV wall mounted up. Our TV is perfectly flushed with the wall, so all effort that goes to the calculation and dimension planning is reaped.
  9. Goooooooood Friday Morning! Lala81,I Pm you my hubby's contact ok. Thank you for the compliments! Yeah, we changed the floorplan to suit our needs. Actually we have a few other ideas in mind, like to shift the kitchen to the dining area for an open concept. Our kitchen is long and unlike the newer BTO flats, there is nothing to knock down to make it more open.. and to have it in the dinner room and make kitchen, the dining and entertaining room is going to make it look very unique and chic! But, its just too bad, there are some restraint and we are unable to carry it out. what about you? Having your house done up too? Enjoy the process ok! its very fun to choose and slowly see your ideal home being constructed. Sgynur, dont mention! about having artifical grass as part of our house design, I tried to upload the photos of the artifical grass but photobucket have a problem with me It hangs everything I click on the <Browse file> button. So sian!
  10. Hmmmm.. ok! I shall bug my ID now! hahahaha.. (so easy to be persuaded!) lucky he doesnt come to this forum else he will be reading it and try not to answer my calls! I also dont allow my dog to step on grass outside when i bring her down for walks, so if have carpet grass at home, she can at least feel the grass n wont get any insects/germs sticking to her paws. Lemme use this point to convince him.
  11. Wow...! Love the green wall! love the dinning area! love the kitchen! Very nice Its nice to have a nice green wall, i wanted carpet grass at home, my dog will love it! But for some reason I cant remember, why i wasnt allowed to have that.. hmm I shall ask my ID about it!
  12. Hi Luvalist! pls dont feel bad abt ranting.. I rant a lot too! hahah.. need somewhere to vent. And, thank you for sharing. Its really good to have first hand accounts as it help me and him to know where his standard it. Plus, other readers will also learn from this. After reading ur experience, I can understand ur frustration. Essentially, the designer's work is split into 2 portions, design and project management. Seeing that you could have featured your house in the magazine, your place must be very nice! any blog? Obviously, he didnt do a decent job on site management. He have to be there when works are done else if do wrong, whose fault is it? Plus no proper explaination, i wonder if they ever put themselves in the owners shoes! The TV with wires, the extra cost for installing is unacceptable!! My hubby does that for his clients FOC as part of his service for them.. most of the time, like u say, its a bit of things to install so if he can help, he will help. Becos of this, he n his clients are on good terms! Did you ask them to come back to do up the wires? Cos u already paid good money for it, n if they do such a shoddy job, get them back here to do it up! so angry, how can they just ruin a nice design (tv feature wall i assume)like that? Sometimes when my hubby chat with me about his work, i find that he usually go all out for his clients but some are a bit funny, they measure the tiles lines n see if they are parallel to the wall! hahaa.. i duno why the client is so free. I know for sure my parents in law did a fabulous job as usual n he didnt take that into consideration, jus say "not parallel, cannot!" It was a resale flat n old flats last time were hand-built and not pre-fab like BTO nowadays. Due to this, the wall was a bit slanted, inevitably and so the tiles cant follow it 100%. the client called my husband up n make noise.. so hubby have to go over his house n spend some time explaning PLUS bring him to his other BTO projects to point out the difference before the client was convinced there was nothing to be done. Other things like time management, he does it well even when there is some delay in material eg laminate shipment, he will give notice to the owners n explain. if before the project start n say they want it done up in 3 weeks during peak, he will let them know its not possible to have it 100% done by 3rd week, he will try his best to have it as complete as soon as possible n give time frame. If they can accept it, they can sign the contract, but if cannot he rather not take responsibilty in case of any delay. I find, if everything out in the open n honest about it, everything will be ok. If try to cover with lies, it will make things worst. Anyway, i hope you can get the wire fixed and be featured in the magazine (the plant wall sounds nice!) I will definitely buy that publication if it does, so do tell ok! Good morning Sygnur!! I asked him nicely last night (didnt exactly pressure him much!) hahahaha..., he is working on it already!
  13. yay! Hi Renoblurblur! Wow thanks.. I didnt know he met you already! so fast.. then i ask him to hurry do up urs n sygnur. If have any constructive comments, just let him know so he can better his service, we need to constantly learn to improve. TIA!
  14. Hi Macuser77! I just PM-ed you the contact. Hope he is able to help you in anyway!
  15. Good morning Luvalist! Thank you for viewing my blog! Really happy that you find it nice Oh dear, what problems did you have last year? care to share so those people renovating can take note, and IDs viewing this blog can also take in and not committ them? This way, the ID/contrator industry will improve. I have seen some who are always pushing for sales especially at those home fair/expo (also agree that some people charge crazy price! I feel, not becos my hubby is in this line, but, they need to charge for designs n their service and managing/coordinating the project and providing quality material, on top of this, have to realise that they also need includes petrol and food n phone bill. Not that they dont do cabinet means they dont incurr any cost. so the clients should not expect them to charge the same as contractor who generally are cheaper as they are working to what you want only, no clean up, no space planning, design, quality control(BTW, some contractor is not cheap also. BUT, the IDs should not be charging super expensive prices when upon comparing, clients will know that they are being 'vegetable heads" becos its not like their cabinets are way superior then others eg, can last for a lifetime kind. In short, I feel that as long price is within reasonable range and the ID are good in their design/advise, responsible, responsive, professionally and most importantly, have good rapport then its good enough. Oh no, i'm going on n on again. I said my piece, what about yours? Thanks Sygnur! Yes, people call this industrial look. I shall snap one with the TV mounted on, I think will look more complete. I also cannot wait to share with everyone my completed home
  16. Hello tpe! This is such a conincidence! yes! i think i saw you twice vaguely, once at ungodly hour at 3am and the other was when we went over to pass you something. I remember standing at the entrance of the shop in awe of the trophies and cert you have, while hubby went to chat with you and your sister about some stuff. He spoke often about you two and your doggies and a new cat! (hahah.. that he found it funny to suddenly see a cat pop out in your shop amongst the dogs. Thank you for supporting him He is really something, he give his all for each project and every single client. So it feels really good affirmation to have you keep coming back to him for your works. I can confidently say that I'm sure he will do something fabulous for your new house with the same delication, effort and reliabilty if not more! Please give constructive criticism too to help him improve. We will be inviting you guys for our housewarming soon and he will give you more information in time to come. Hope to tag along with him this weekend to bring my doggy over to your shop (if you are available) and say hi to you in person this time

  19. Hi Norman, Thanks! Ya, its better to do it this way, more functional and nicer, in my opinion. I will pass your no to my hubby, most probably he will drop u a msg next week? I hope you gave time allowance for the searching of ID n whole process of searching for your reno Not sure how long it takes normally, but now is the industry's peak period, so hubs, MIL all busy max. U are welcome June. WOW french bistro! Nice and very unique! Not many ppl like it or if they do like it, they normally wont incoporate this design in their house, cos, i think, they wana play safe. Ur place will look quite different! Hello cocoangel! Geez.. thanks thanks! I will PM u his no I love it too! I feel, somehow that stretch of cabinet it makes the house look bigger. I'm gg to pop by later to have a look n see how the effect turns out and update here soon. Oh, you are doing ur place this year end, have to hurry then, cos like i told norman above, its the industry's peak period. I've been seeing very little of my MIL/FIL n hubs since mid sept and its getting worst now. They told me that usually its like this cos most ppl wana have their house ready for xmas or cny. I just hope he doesnt forget my furnitures by xmas else........
  20. Hi June! Great to know you liked the TV wall! its being modified as I type.. cant wait to pop by this weekend to have a look. I'm sure he is happy to work on your house regardless of the size of the project. To him, its passion and an opportunity to create art. But if you know what you want, then he will help you create your art piece, thats how I see it. Are you starting your reno soon? I think I saw ur t-blog title (didnt went in to peek though). I tell you what, I PM u his contact so u can talk to him about the things u require to be done and the time frame etc.. haha cos I am not sure of his schedule, just know that he is very busy (and I will soon forget how he look like if he doesnt appear in front of me soon.)
