Cement Screed pouring in progress~ Day 7 HDB cement Screed contractors are quite professional. Have been aliasing with Mr. Tay for HDB cement Screed and they have 10 over years experience in this and use proper levelling tool and laser to measure the smoothness and levelness of the flooring, totally did not expect that or maybe cause there was someone there to watch them work thus they have to perform better performance? Cement Screed was suppose to be schedule end of October however, luckily for us it took 2 weeks+. Still praying it will not rain these few days so that the cement could dry up properly. Laying HERF mid of November, thus there will be lots of time for the cement to dry up. [2 Bedroom] *view from Common Bathroom

Lighter sand for cement screed usually no but not say cant but other people did not request to do for it. The worker mentioned that Singapore HDB seldom wants it to be too light or too dark as people usually would want to put flooring after cement screeding. Also these kind of cement screed in the long run will crack just like our school's flooring.

[ Mr K's workers moving the sand from bottom to the house] Initially was 2 workers and shortly after many more of them came to help out if not it will take till tomorrow till the 2 worker move up the sand. Mr K is so busy with so many projects on hand that he came to drop by and left soon after but thankfully that everything went smoothly. As so many T-blogs mentioned, Mr. K is really on the ball when the project starts, all these, hacking and delivering of the items happens on one day, Mr K really fast! Starting to think that everything happens so quickly. Lastly : Mr. K's worker accidentally broke our broom but he will replaced it. Looking forward for tomorrow Cement Screed from HDB, alias with the Cement Screed Contractor to come in the morning~ *Prays that it does not rain* Rooms are ready for Cement Screed tomorrow morning.

Tiles Selected [glass mosaic for back splash] [another view of the glass mosaic] pweety~ [tiles for overlay bottom kitchen concrete cabinet] looks abit dirty but its supposed to be whiter. [ Thanks to mauser77 i got the same tiles as he recommended] Looking forward for the laying of floor tiles.

Updates!! Day 6 Today is demolish of walls for MBR, Kitchen Half Wall. Was surprise when i arrived to see items arrived at the foot of the block too. Workers were moving up the items. Only realised those items were ours when hubby when to peep at the DO. Yes, i saw your t-blog and was considering wanting to get your same type of tiles, further more its [15x90] that we wanted. But we could not find similar tiles like yours which were within the budget we were suppose to get. I re-look at your t-blog and I dont remember seeing your type of wood tiles at $4.10. We might go down to Hafary to take a look again with your reference number. Thanks so much!! And i realised, K take vvv long to schedule his time table. sometimes we arrange to meet up and he will say let me check my schedule then let you know, check until the day before still haven revert back then we have to call him again. Even though he did not reply we took it as consent. As we had the same situation as yours, whereby he say "不是讲好 ...." LOL!

Thanks for your advise. Guess, we will not need to chase him when the actual reno starts next week. Anyway, we went to Hafary and short listed 1 set of wood tile from china but did not take any photo of it. While the spain wood tiles in Hafary are too "over woody" Eventually the china wood tile one we shortlist from Hafary was too rough finish compare to the one we shortlisted at Soon Bee Huat which were more smooth/gloss finish so that its easier to clean and mop in the long run.

As is if you try using system 4 and on it together. its take long time to be cool. All the Btu you saw on top is calculate of space need to be cool. And i have open concept kitchen, liviing room.

Hi ProjectH, Thanks for dopping by. I almost forgotten to share this, saw this while i was as Soon Bee Huat too. Its another set of lovely tile. Love this set of tile while i was there but the price tag is really out of our budget.

Tiles Selection Went to Soon Bee Huat, Hafary & Sin Lek for tiles selection last week and shortlisted the wood tiles. We realised Sin Lek does not have much wood tiles for our selection, their only available were China & Italy Tiles. However, their china tiles falls way below the budget what we were given. While the spain were too way high from the budget we were given too. Thus we went to Soon Bee Huat and selected a few that was within our range : None of these woodtiles were our selected range *edited And we went to Hafary to choose the tiles for the kitchen concrete cabinets : Intially were looking at wood tiles from Hafary but realised the one from Soon Bee Huat was suitable. But we end up picking Hafary woodtiles which was recommended later on. [selected Concrete tiles] This was deem too cute and not suitable

Taobao Round 1 About a month ago have purchase lightings, taps and misc items from Taobao and it has finally arrived Singapore yesterday. It took about 2 weeks to consolidate the orders in China and was suppose to take another 3 weeks for it to arrive to singapore, however items came 1 week earlier. Total took about 4 weeks after placing orders. Will be collecting it real soon and Good News comes in double, Have applied for hacking for next week and it will be the official start of my renovation. OH! i think i need to clarify also, as i was not too sure about aircon initially as it was MR who alias with the air-conditioned. But from what i found from him is that we have 2 compressor for the air-condition. 1 compressor for living room and bedroom 2 while another compressor for MBR and bedroom 3. While the usual system 4 comes with 1 compressor? The price difference is about 200 for my initial quote and later quote.

Hi art00609, Im not sure if its a norm to keep reminding k for his timeline. As from previous projects done by K contractor, he seems really prompt. But during and after the initial site visits, have to remind him a few times and contact him a few times for a meet up. Do you possibly know if this be a norm? Understand that he seems busy too.

No problem. We were looking at Mitsubishi Electric Inverter and Daikin Inverter. But eventually decided with Mitsubishi Electric Inverter. We decided on 2x system 2 [2 x compressor], initially was looking at system 1 [ 1x compressor] for living room and system 3 [1x compressor] for the 3 rooms but realised the aircon ledge is too small to fit the system 1 compressor thus have to make changes and became system 2 [ 2 x compressor] : Master room & Bedroom 3 / Bedroom 2 + Living Hall As we wanted house to be cool when guest comes and when aircon are switch on. It depends on individual how you want to assign the BTU for each room or each house or the usage of the space. for e.g Living Hall we wanted it to be cold thus setting higher BTU to it and giving BDR 2 a lesser BTU as it is small as well. Mr went to do the research and comparision with the rest of the big players while i went to enquire the smaller players, big players have a huge price gap while smaller players have a smaller price gap. All these have put in the power of the aircon into considerations as well. As some of the big players could not offer the same power with the same price thus eventually decided to go with Cool Force.

I don think they have a catalogue but could get in touch with them on the type of model you are looking for. As we have an idea which model we are looking for thus went to them for the quotation. Have provided others with the same specs but the price and items given were still unable to beat CoolForce. It will be good to compare on your side as well.

About Mr K, Aircon and Evorich HERF Alot people have asked or pm about K's contact but these days he has been quite busy with meeting prospects clients and overseeing projects, his schedule to meet prospect clients have been scheduled till Nov. If you might consider to engage k with your renovation, do keep in mind that his price are incomparable with other contracter or rather his price is avg ID price but his service is definately on par or even more responsible than ID. Up till thus far, have arranged for Aircon [CoolForce] to take initial measurements, have decided to engage them as have compared other aircon suppliers provided in the forum and still find [Cool Force] quotes much more cheaper and offering better. If anyone might be keen to have them for a comparision quote do look for Cynthia. Cool Force are Cool Serve's main compeitor and realised Cool Force could actually offer better or price beat them. HERF from Evorich have also came down to take measurement of the HERF needed for laying the 3 bedrooms, the cost ended up to be slightly lower from what he has quoted as the area was smaller than initial floor plan measurement. Was supposed to meet K at 1pm but he was nice to inform that he will be reaching at 1.30pm. Have up till far go through our quote one final time and make make onsite measurements with him.
