  1. Update Continues : Overview of living room still awaiting for the rest of the lights in the house to be up : House is still in a mess~ Aircon will be installing on Tuesday and Mr K will be back. Everything will be pass back for Mr K to handle for us. Lastly is kitchen light though i find the kitchen's light not really matching to the overall theme : Bird Nest Lights from Taobao F2 Fanco Fan spinning without any shadows casted on the walls.
  2. Day 51 Electrical came this morning for installing the light fixtures~ Finally~ First Light~ The cove light and downlight : Our Haiku Fan[ Don't mind the background as our other carpentry and other things are not up]: Tom Dixon and Tracklights [some leftover track lights we have gotten from Taobao to sell if anyone is keen] : http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0d.6639537.0.0.ndTxN9&id=8094848062&shop_id=36201908
  3. Day 50 Painting Commence First Layer of painting is up for ceiling + walls But painter, painted over the copper gas pipe which we wanted to retain the original state : Might have painter to wash away the colour painted, not sure if there might be any side effects for keeping the gas pipe in copper. Mr. K false ceiling person really did a really "dirty" job in the false ceiling, right after the false ceiling is up, we came to site to find lots of white paint and putty on the floor. Putty can be as huge as a huge rock big. Mr K said it could be removed after chemical wash but its really ALOOOT! But maybe because they were rushing to finish the ceiling? Another issue is the false ceiling worker did this to my brick wall. Need extra work to wash it : Tomorrow will be commencing the setting up of light fixtures or setting up the switches. Looking back at the To-Do-List we are suppose to do while Mr. K is away to find that we have cleared most of it. To-Do-List 1. Mr K will be inspecting the False Ceiling tomorrow and arrange for initial round of painting if everything goes well, it should be able to start painting on wednesdayFriday 2. Get Wall Color Samples from Mr K 3. Cleaning up and Clearing Debris should be done before Wall Painting 4. Arrange for Lighting to be install while Mr K is away after the painting [Arrange and will be executed tomorrow, looking to see the light finally~] 5. While arranging for Lighting fixture, arrange for carpentry to come for measurement 6. Not forgetting to request for Laminate Samples. Should be using Lamitak as Mr. K suggested 7. Arrange for Aircon installation after lighting is done. [in the midst of arranging]
  4. Thanks for your recommendation!! Will drop by and take a look. How long is your waiting time for delivery? I checked with lush lush and they could only deliver in april. Thanks retchlow!! will take note! But curious what happened in lush lush and grafunkt? I find grafunkt stuffs are really expensive! I email Lush Lush and told me deliver could be 8-10 weeks but went down and was told delivery to be in apr. Anyway, i will drop by comfort design for the Barbarra chair too! Thanks for recommending.
  5. Update Further Continues . . . . . Lastly, Mr K's painter is ready for painting tomorrow, hopefully it will goes smoothly and will be able to arrange for electrician to come on Monday.
  6. Update Further Continues Laminate Selection Have selected and shortlisted laminates for our Carpentry~ Laminates are from lamitak : Kitchen Entrance Frame and have shortlisted 3 with the first one being 1st option : Kitchen's Cabinets : Bay window's : Tv Console's : Internal Laminate for waredrobe :
  7. Update Continues Furniture Sourcing Star Living The last place we went today and saw some great furnitures too. Have shortlisted these : This sofa was selling at over 1.4k a year ago ~ We found this mini chair from a second hand furniture dealer located in Jurong and the owner was nice to gave us these 2 chairs for free but it will need some re-painting and re-furnishing :
  8. Day 48 Furniture Sourcing Went to look around for furnitures for the past few days or rather we have been looking out for furniture before we gotten our keys but these few days then we went back again to see what are the new things and the sales or promotion available. Not very fulfilling, went to Lush Lush, The Design Store by Lifestorey, Grafunkt, Lorgan's The Retro Store, Hock Siong & Co and Star Living. These are the few which we remembered, there might be some which we missed out. Lush Lush was the first furniture shop we went. Months ago we went and there were lots of furniture and dining table but few days ago we went back again, things have cleared out more or less. However, this Barbarra Chair caught our attention. Thinking that $900 for this chair with ottoman is pretty expensive thus we dint commit on the spot, however after looking around we might get this lounge chair. The Design Store by Life Storey Was the second shop we went as it was located opp road of Lush Lush. They have really interesting furniture with innovative designs. One of the Sofa that capture our attention was this : We love the colour and design but looking at the pricing, though its been discounted, its quite steep for us, not sure if its a good investment Grafunkt Was another awesome store we went, alot of the furniture we saw suit our theme but the price is really far too away from our budget but Hubby still loves them : [image from Grafunkt FB] Lorgan's The Retro Store We fell in love with this lounge chair and it was similiar to barbarra chair its call the Papa Bear Chair : [image from Lorgan FB] Hock Siong & Co Was a great place my mom brought me to and it sells some great re-furnish 2nd hand furniture + in great price. [images from Hock Siong FB]
  9. Update Continues : Some of the other drawings he drew for Baywindow in MBR and some shelving for bedside table : Kitchen / Dining Area's Table Top and Entrance Frame : Shoe Cabinet :
  10. Day 47 Carpenter Measuring Updates : Carpenter came in to do measurement by last min arrangement with him. Ah Zhuan is really a easy person to converse for our carpentry. He is one of the sub con doing carpentry for Mr K. As Mr K is away for holiday, we have met up with him to discuss about carpentry. Was going to wait for painting to be up but since he said it will be better before painting so that he could draw on the wall. We end up prepared for the carpentry works with drawings for him and he drew on our rough plan instead. Kitchen Cabinet : Internal of the Dishrack : Walk-in Waredrobe's sketch :
  11. :D No worries~ Thanks for dropping by to my t-blog also. Yours seems pretty fast but the carpentry wait is rrreeealllyyy long, K pre-warn me that carpentry will have to wait, K's painter arrange for friday to paint the under layer. Am going to arrange for carpentry to measure for carpentry. Not sure how long it will take for him to arrange just for measurement. Contacting carpenter to check later on. I guess after final chemical wash it will be handover time~ After that there is still touch up as well, by the time K will be back~
  12. Yes, K is away on holiday. I have engaged him as well am in the midst of our renovation. While he is away i'm substituting his role to monitor and alias with sub contractors for the progression of works. I am the first few to collect keys for my project in Oct as well and quickly got K to process with the reno due to year end and chinese new year. Is yours ready for handover? Last layer of painting and chemical wash arranged already? While K is away i gotten him to pass me the contacts so that i could arrange.
  13. Hi~ The shelving are not laminate, its wood tile left over from our floor tile. Not sure if could still request him to do it. But your reno are completing soon, good luck to you.
  14. I did last min request to do the shelving, though its not in the intial quotation. Don't know if K will add it in the invoice later on.
  15. Day 46 Extra shelving Mr K's worker did some extra for us Corner shelving in MBR : Corner Shelving for Common Bathroom And lastly its colour choosing time : \ Gotten a copy of Dulux 2014 colour palette book from Mr K and have shortlisted and selected some colours. As we are going for Scandi thus we have chosen Dulux All - Sail White[AL 25815] for living room, Dulux All - Pacific Mist[AL20808] for rooms. Feature walls will be newer colours : Private Lagoon [90GG19 / 151] & Canadian Sky 30BG49 / 047]
  16. Hi neighbour, good to see that you are progressing quickly. My project is in Fernvale but doubt it it the same project. I'm few steps behind you and its good to see that K is clearing more and more projects nearing the end of the year as he gets really busy during this period.
  17. Hi hojichalatte, He is leaving tomorrow evening and returning next week.
  18. Tangie, Nice laminate you have, but depends whether individual loves it. Mr K suggested laminates from Lamitak when i asked him if it was Formica. Is yours from Lamitak? Looks like one of the laminate we have shortlisted from Lamitak under the woodgrain series. The white one is for kitchen cabinets?
  19. Day 44 False Ceiling Minor updates Completion of False Ceiling in the Living Room. Chased Mr. K for some timeline and to-do-list when Mr K is away overseas. To-Do-List 1. Mr K will be inspecting the False Ceiling tomorrow and arrange for initial round of painting if everything goes well, it should be able to start painting on wednesday Friday [Delayed] 2. Get Wall Color Samples from Mr K 3. Cleaning up and Clearing Debris should be done before Wall Painting 4. Arrange for Lighting to be install while Mr K is away after the painting 5. While arranging for Lighting fixture, arrange for carpentry to come for measurement 6. Not forgetting to request for Laminate Samples. Should be using Lamitak as Mr. K suggested 7. Arrange for Aircon installation after lighting is done.
  20. Its good that someone understand the frustration at times. I have chased Mr K so many times that he says that im like his assistant, like you mentioned, no choice, we need to know certain days for delivery, aircon installation etc. But once he get things arranged, its pretty fast executed. As he is a contractor not a ID, maybe thats why he does not have a drafted timeline. My Hubby and I might not be so detail so have yet to spot any huge areas for touch up. But some of the tiling work his worker done, not sure if its suppose to be like that or touch up is needed. for e.g the round cutting btw tap or floor's sewage pipe, the tile cutting part does not seems so nice and round. Suppose to install sliding door but the aircon box up block the sliding door from opening. L box eats up our track lights area. All these are not possible for touch up and we could only work around it. But other than that the rest are fine. We have yet to measure for our carpentry and Mr K is going overseas next week for a week. WE have to cover for Mr K and alias with his sub con so that nothing much get delay. We are doing more on hacking and concrete / tiling work. carpentry not much. Except for Tv console, kitchen's internal drawers and cabinets, MBR's walk in waredrobe and bay window. Almost few steps behind from yours. Sometimes waiting for K's green light might be a little too long. Waiting for more of your photos to be up, its always exciting to see Mr. K projects.
  21. Day 43 Aircon Piping Minor Updates : Living Room Air Con Trunking Box Up: Part of the walk in waredrobe's partition : MBR Box Up : Weighing our options for the MBR's Toilet Door : Option 1 : Shorter sliding door but have wood to seal up the gap [might not look nice] Option 2 : Shorter sliding door but a gap on top of the door [water vapour and smell will escape from the small gap] Option 3 : 2 piece push in or pull out wood door Option 4 : Bi Fold Lourve Door. Mr K suggest that he will take care of the matter which we might not be sure to which. Concern about option 1 is that water vapour will spoil the wood eventually but Mr K say it won't
  22. Hi Tangie, Understand your situation totally as im in the same situation as well. Started the reno about the same time as you but there was alot of waiting and chasing and waiting and chasing. We tried to be understanding that he is busy but he seems a little too over busy. We are also targeting before CNY to complete and the timeline we were given to complete was mid Jan, 3 months of renovation. Each time he has 1 worker overseeing the house at a time, our concrete / tiling work was done by 1 worker this whole time. Would say that your renovation progression is consider fast as compared to ours.
  23. Thanks for dropping by. MR K's quote is quite steep, we tried to bargain and bring down his price by a bit and removing some of our To-Do-List from his quotation to try matching into our budget. Thanks! Its about 1.7k for that glass mosaic backsplash but price varies depending on which type is being chosen and the availability for the mosaic. Thanks. They are not siblings, age are 1 year old apart. Both are female though.
  24. Day 41 False Ceiling Concrete Works more or less done up. Service yard sink done up : Cove and False Ceiling in the MBR on its way up : Done up MBR's False Ceiling and Cove : Other side MBR cove and False Ceiling : Another view of the MBR's Cove and False Ceiling : One Super Huge Issue we realised!! We are suppose to have a sliding door for the MBR toilet, See what the aircon trunking and box up have done : Oh my 天! These few days will be doing False Ceiling, wanted to arrange for 2nd trip of aircon after the false ceiling but have till be delay till the painting is done. Am laying HERF next week as well, rooms needs to be cleared for HERF.
