Possible To Diy Whole House Painting?
ibelieveindevil replied to CutePinkElephant's topic in DIY Corner
actually was rather stunned by some of these questions, cuz a lot of these problem i never encounter before: well, regarding DIY painting, some of the most troublesome things includes, well unable to reach high areas when u are doing for terrace, and relying on extension sometimes cant produce satisfactory result. 1: i was wondering about the fact that some forumers kep asking about painting a layer of based, followed by 2-3 layers of paint. i personally have never done so. Choose a high quality paint, do not mind that it is expensive because usually u only paint twice, which will save up a lot on your : work and cost. 2: the work will greatly depends on whether the unit is occupied or not. it usually take twice to trice the effort of painting an occupied unit. moving out the furnitures proves to be much faster than painting carefully without removing the furnitures. 3: aim at small areas, since most of us are working adults, or maybe too old to work, we cant probably be thinking of having a 12 hours painting sesstion for 3 days to complete the whole house. instead divide the houe into living room, individual rooms, store room, toilet, kitchen, dining area, and such, and aim at painting one area each time. the living room, which is often the most troublesome, and biggest in area, is usualy tackle last. -
How To Remove Stan From Laminated Surface
ibelieveindevil replied to ironstarz's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
omg, obviously, TS, u make a big mistake to remove paint from doors surface using thinner, since thinner are suppose to be used on marbles, tiles, glass and metalic surfaces which do not have any effect on it. thinner do dissoves plastic and thus it will leave a bad marking. thinner is a very strong organic solvent and should be avaoided if possible. try to use water, then alcohol, den lighter fluid, den nail polisher and finally thinner in that order as the dissolving power get stronger. of course, if the damage is done den, too bad.... u can do very few things, obviously either to rewax the lamination, which would cost u a boom, or to well, leave it as it is. after a few months, u will realised that even good new door aged under sun light pretty fast and the marking will be very faint. -
there is actually a very cheap way make the posters and paintings look nice, but the thing is, this method will not protect the posters against sunlight and dust. simply paste the poster on a large piece of styleform, cut out the styleform without leaving any edges. pait the side of the styleform with water colour of paint of the base colour of the poster. u dont even need to use fasterners as the styleform is light enough to be paste directly to the wall.
