Does anyone know where to get vintage or retro wallpapers?
  5. Hi, Nice furniture selection... Looking forward to see the finishing touch.
  6. Hi Strychnine, Thanks! Yah definately excited... Wow...never expect to know another person from Renotalk saw my home feature in AT.
  7. Normally I do not have the habit of reading books but ever since I know that I am going to be a father, I have been reading more books and coffee table magazines with topics surrounding babies and parenting. I have read quite a bit on breastfeeding and it is indeed beneficial to both mother and child but I also found out that it is not easy breastfeed and it is quite stressful for mother in term of physical and mental. Oh yah man...I am excited to take photographs of my little girl. I am also planning to get a Sony videocam at the coming computer fair to shoot my daughter, gotta capture the moments from her very 1st day. I am wondering what is the government's revised plan for baby bonus and parent benefits. Having a child is really not easy, everything is anchored down by money. We are thinking about getting the Cordblood bank account but it is so ex...gosh
  8. How much are you selling?
  9. Where did u get the absolut colours? It is not selling at DFS.
  10. Wow...so many posts while I am away. Just came back from a wonderful weekend retreat at a local hotel to celebrate that we are becoming parents. Well I think everyone have to take things one step at a time, slowly slowly.....slowly. Patience is very important when comes to parenting. I hope I can be a good father-figure....haha During the antenatal class, the nutritionist told us that breastfeeding is beneficial to both mother and child. But due to working commitment, the nutritionist said it is ok to change to formula milk once the mother have to get back to work. Breastfeeding provides the best for babies during the first few months...
  11. Get a project manager to do up your kid's room!
  12. Wow...you are back! hehe... I prefer an unisex theme because we planned to have more kids in the future, so nobody can fight over the theme. I think my nursery will function as a dayroom and playroom, baby will sleep with us in the night. My baby's gender will most probably be unveiled during the scan tomorrow, provided our baby is not shy to expose... Well...grandmother-to-be will definitely fight for their share of the baby but I think we will still prefer to take care of our own baby as long we have the time. Hardship is bound to have when having a baby so we getting ourselves mentally prepared for that day. Right now we are enjoying all the quiet and private moments that we can have before our baby arrives.
  13. Ohh..the lanterns! hehe...it is one of the feature in our home. The lanterns are a gift from my friend who got them from Vietnam. You can find them locally at the chinese shops in Chinatown.
  14. I think just do 1 thing at time, step by step. Try to get the design and look for the ideal contractor first.
  15. Well...someone has answered the part on process. But actually it is not necessary to understand the process in details, just follow through with your contractor. You can always check with your contractor the timeline or ask for a timeline sheet. Unless you want to be the contractor which I do not proposed because of cross-overs of warranties for workmanship and it doesn't save much money with the trouble that you are going through. Most IDs are actually sales designers who are mainly selling "packaged template design" to people. Singapore HDB's interior design has a trend or so called the "follow the crowd kind of formula", like the die-die-must-have TV feature wall and bomb shelter cover. As for theme, the all time favorite will be contemporary, modern and asian (zen). The designers just have work with the formula and deliver the design to you. Then many people will fall into the trap of romancing with the ID's drawing, seeing the beautiful space with nice lightings and furnishing, BUT actual fact is that you only get a empty renovated home at the end. You still have to get your own furniture and decor to beautify the space. You cannot expect the ID to give you the Van Gogh painting showed in the drawing right? Ultimately if you have a better budget, you can always engage a premium ID to have a different design experience. If you enjoy roller-coaster ride, you can be the ID! Have to plan the space and design, plot points for electrical and lighting. The important rule is to work very closely with your contractor and give detailed measurement. For example the dining area, you have to calculate the space for dining table set, the seating area(the space when your chairs are pulled out) and the center point for lighting if you want the lighting above your table. It is fun and tough at the same time but rewarding at the end. I have posted very detailed phases of my renovation in the earlier posts of my blogchat, can read through for reference.
  16. Ahhh...thanks for the info! I just feel that most babies are somehow not given a space at home, it is more like bunk in with parents until a later stage. I want to dedicate a space for my kid(s). It is very difficult to find nice baby products in Singapore and even if there is, it will be very expensive. The things that I like can actually cost more than the furniture that adults are using.
  17. I think I need a bigger space to wrestle my baby!
  18. wow...my blogchat is like a skeleton kept in the closet. Buried under a huge pile of fresh blogchatters...haha! Ok, may i have your attention please...I have a little project coming up! I am going to have a make over of my spare room into a nursery! I am going to be a father by the end of the year...woohoo! Excited! I am currently researching and brainstorming hard how to design the room. During my research, I realised that there is not much people in Singapore have a nursery. It is commonly a children room with ready-made themed furniture sets. Any blogchatters have any nursery room? Pics to share? What are the necessary things to have in a nursery? I am maybe starting with a theme like circus, comic, farm, safari, space....still thinking hard!
  19. I think those are not sprayed, it is colour stickers or film. Unless it is sandblasted...
  20. Hi, My kitchen is partially tiled...I tiled the space between the cabinet and surface top only, the rest is paint. So far so good Actually I dunno why must the whole kitchen be tiled like a toilet, it is not like you are going to splash your walls with oil...
  21. Hi Lime Green, One of the forum member asked me to contribute my share of experience over here... It is an extremely long process to explain everything about my experience in renovation and in fact everyone has different experiences and opinions towards it. Like you say, many people in this forum has posted similar questions and answers of what you want to ask and know. Just read through the posts or blogs. Research needs time. For my case, I am a graphic designer so I have the upper-hand in doing design so I have decided to skip the part of hiring an ID but I am a newbie towards renovation. Just have to learn along the way. The role of an ID is to propose design and coordinate the renovation work for you but actual fact it is the ID's appointed contractor who is doing the real coordination work. I personally feel that even if you are hiring an ID for designing, you will still be involved in the design work because of your own personal aesthetic preference unless you believe your ID's style. Another good thing about an ID is that he can produce some drawings to help you to visualise your home before confirming the renovation. Coordination is basically a timeline produced by the contractor, you just have to follow the timeline and give him the things he needs at that point of time. Timeline is very important in renovation so you have to confirm it with your ID or contractor before work. HDB is very strict with renovation timeline. Maybe you can can let me know which area you wish to find out more and I will try to share with you. Have fun with your new home...
