hi guys,im contemplating between getting an inverter or non-inverter System 4 from Daikin. The dealer whom I approached told me that if i only use it for my sleep (which is at most 6-7 hrs a day), then non-inverter is more worth it since the up-front cost is about close to S$1,400 difference between the 2.
Anyway, he quoted me for Daikin non-inverter System 4 (9+9+9+12) for S$2,100 including installation. I deduce that his inverter system 4 is gonna set me back by S$3,500.
Installation:
- 1/2" ArmaFlex insulation for all copper + water pipe, unlimited length
- G24 Copper (I asked for upgrade he told me need to top up since the price of copper is quite exp now)
- 2 time installation
1) Which should I be looking at? Inverter / Non-Inverter?
2) How's his price?
tat's wat the my salesman told me also... ur price is the same as my daikin sys 3... cheap cheap.. my sys 3 is the same price as urs!! mine is 9+9+18

but if dun inform the TO, think the contractor may not be able to claim for work done leh...dunno leh tat time my TO told me to contact my contractor directly... she said even if i inform her, she still gotta pass down to her contractor...double work

haiya actually no need to call them also ... jus tell the contractor in charge of ur unit... let him settle the rest... after all it's him who will be doing the work..(and claiming) hehe

Need help from forumers on how to brighten up my living area.The lights we bought does not seems to brighten up the place. Now we are pretty upset about it. Cracking our brains on how to solve this problem.
This are the main lighting points of our house. The circle part is the dark area.
the lighting pt in ur living room are so strangely placed of cos the circled area appears dark.
one way is to relocate the 2 lighting pts in the living room and space them out evenly along the length of the living room.
if u dun wan to drill holes mabbe u could buy standing lamps lor...
u can ask patrick for suggestions also

my mum's aircon is 10years + and still working leh. my in-law's aircon is almost 20 yrs and still wkg...but its true lor if u don really switch on aircon then might as well dont get inverter
those are only efficient for higher usage.dunno leh nowadays these electrical applicances if can last for 5 to 7 years i think considered to have long life span liao lor

$2764 Toshiba Sys 3 Inverter with upgrade to 1/2" insulation and copper pipe grade 22 and additional 4 yrs unlimited repair warranty. Reason for changing mind again is bcos the total cost for Toshiba after the upgrade is within our budget
the $50 toilet door from HDB!! mai hiam buai pai la..
there r 2 layer of flim.. the inner layer is very thin.. after that layer is peeled off, the acrylic is actually quite bright.. will need to wait till the reno is completed den can show its 'true colour'
haha i got the 4 plastic panel door cos the uncle soon say that one more sturdy...
the a/c saleman said that inverter sys wun save much $$ if u switch on 1 unit only... cos that unit is only a fraction of the total capacity of the compressor mah... must switch on all the units for a period of time (~7-8hrs) daily then will see saving in electricity bills... anyway i dun think aircon can last for decades haha so mabbe 7-8yrs?(our warranty is 5yrs) we were thinking after it spoilt liao then change to inverter lor...cos now dun see the need leh..

i am getting sys 3 inverter for our 3 rooms.. no big unit.. Toshiba is cheaper cos the BTU is smaller than StarMex..I think our final decision is StarMex liao..
oic... but i still it's cheap for an inverter system....actually the salesman told me if we dun switch on the for long hrs everyday.. like 2x unit for 10hrs or more a day... an inverter system really dosen't save much on bills.. cos we are out working most of the time... not worth it lor... but if ur mit aircon only $2500 i think can buy lah... quite cheap.. we were quoted around $3k for an inverter model(with 1 big and 2 small units)

ya.. I read the thread liaoz..actually after running to a few A/c shops.. Starmex seems to b a better option..
Toshiba pricing fluctuate alot.. the range goes from $2400 - $2550. Starmex pricing is rather consistent.
Heard from a salesperson from natural cool that Starmex may have a new design when the next shipment comes in Mid-Late April.
what type of sys are u planning to buy? sys2 or sys3? inverter model $2000 plus only meh?
my daikin sys3 non-inverter already $2000 liao... but i got 1 big(living rm) and 2 small units...

if not safe, they also won't develop JW mah.... 
yalor singapore is so small if got pollution in Jurong, within a few hrs the wind blow, reach changi liao no place can be 100% pollution free leh... u see the smoke from indonesia just need a few days than reach singapore liao..

Uncle Ah Soon is actually a nice chap... but is too busy that he dont have time to attend to every1 efficiently... but once he start work, he is ok lah.... and he got such lobang thats benefit us homeowners... can change door at cheaper, can change tiles, etc.i think the lobangs is becos he is gg to charge HDB for the work done mah.. mabbe he will charge HDB for the whole door and take some $$ from us. so in the end he still earn $$ haha.. but quite true, good he is getting HDB to 'subsidise' us for the new items haha
i think the more 'defects' he do, the more he can charge hehe...
but i dun like his workmanship lor... quite rough... but wat to do?

krisie i think i noe wat type of door u are talking about liao, he told u it's some "US skin" right? i think no need to paint also, just lacquer can liao.. look like our main door tat type. i took the cheaper ver need to paint over one which is the same as wat my wifey's hse is using... he quoted me 100+ also last time, i like the door but i dun see the need to install such expensive doors lah... waste $$ hehe so never took in the end...
actually learnt alot from this forum too...so muz read more so can learn how to do ours...
aiyah u ask them to do this and tat but if they dun listen when u'll are not around, they will still do it their way mah... no use one lah... unless u can sit there supervise them haha

for mine, the contractor hacked all the wall tiles. i only replace the wall tiles, floor tiles never got replaced.i think someone's toiletbowl got replaced cos the tape cannot be removed right? can't remember is whose...
hehehe.. ya me also thinking of getting it for balcony.
did u manage to see around how much it cost for such chairs?
are u talking abt the toilet seat cover? mine got replaced cos i can't remove the tape marks hehe...

went to meet up with that uncle Ah Soon to choose the doors..was told that he disposed the bifold door at the MBR toilet!
Oreadi told him that I wan to keep the door liao.. yet he still act on my behalf and throw my door away.. now have to pay $50 extra for the new door nvm, at least we got 2 new bifold doors.. and 3 new solid wooden doors for $380.. and was told that we can get the house back by sat!! !!

my wooden doors cost $30 each and the 2 bifold bathroom doors cost $50 each total only $190 leh
he gave u a brochure to choose right? or u chose those special doors? i chose from the brochures he gave me leh... and he painted them to choco for me and gave me an almost full can of paint...

think depends on how many coats you are looking at and at what price you can get the paint...$1400 is expensive for 5-rm, barang barang is offering $1350 for EA but for a limited period only...
depending on the quality of the paint also and the amt of coats needed.. (min 2 coats)
as a guide, 1 bedroom need 1x5l for 2 coats
living -2-3 5l cans
each 5L can is $50
so total cost including equipment will be around 500-600...

Good thing is that now Bukit Panjang Plaza has opened a Harvey Norman filled with furniture, so you do not have to walk too far to take a look.got liao meh? i tot they closed down a few years back... now reopen?

actually i dun plan to start renos so soon cos we haben decide when our AD is gg to be. but wifey become panickly cos old ppl say housie cannot be left empty for too long, else got dirty things go inside and stay so reno lor.. then we will try to go there every weekend to relax there hehe... it's become like our weekend chalet now...

Some forumers (here and Sg brides) preferred Nippon Paint to ICI paint 'cos they thought Nippon was thicker...no personal experience though...Nippon paint is generally $2-$4 cheaper per can for the same/similar range...

initially we also wanted to just have a smaller wardrobe and the bed in the MBR but find that it's too cramp, so we decided to knock down the other room and i can have a bigger WIW. hehe..hmm.. there's a difference between homogenous and ceramic tiles. ceramic tiles if chipped, you will see the inside of the tiles is white in colour but homogenous tiles if chipped, the inside is still the same colour as the top layer.
icic but to me homegenous means "the same" so the homo part means the entire tile is of the same color?
so it's still valid that homogenous is still ceramic?

My personal experience and preferance is to get aircon with aircon specialist co(Ga*n C*ty, AllB*st); get washing machin/fridge at neighbourhood stores(those commonly mentioned in the forum) and tv from big electrical shops(B*st D*nk*, H*rv*y N*rm*n, C**rts) etc etc.I just gotten my aircon from AllB*st after some searching ard. The salesman i've approached is very knowledgeable, frank and patient. He is the kind who dont mind customer go rounds to ask for other quotation, and always patient to answer ur doubts.
jessi, ur tiles look small in the pics. are they ceramic or homogenous? is the size 800x800 big ones kind?
my aircon also from Allbest... no probs so far ... hehe

Hey, I used to live at Teck Whye Blk 6..I just came back from my new house. Made a trip down to close toilet covers
And realise, the toilets are dirty with stains. Or should say, the whole place is dirty.
OMG, but i tot ur renos haben started yet? so wat's the cause of the stains? the previous owner's work? hehe
wah frm Teck whye to Bt Panjang..short distance only mabbe i will see u on LRT haha...

mabbe we bought the aircon too early bah...tat's why more ex... but i went carrefour to check the pricing after we placed the order for our sys 3... carrefour is $400 more ex for the same sys... we also dunno much abt aircon... but we got ours frm gaincity.. got dunno wat casetrust... i guess they wun cheat us bah... else how they get the 'casetrust' logo?
