    need to wait for so long ah?? cos i spoke to the contractor.. he said he can finish within 7 days..

    he seems to be doing up a few units in my blk..

    i din get to choose the colours yet.. will contact him tomolo to liase with him again..

    heard that there's only 4 colors to choose.... not much variety... he say he can finish within 7days but he never say when he will start haha...

    it was super super crowded....

    we really shouldn't go to these places, especially when we're on a tight, tight budget....

    ended up getting an Akira LCD TV. then, as we were going back to the car, we went by Goldheart, went in and got our wedding bands too. :dancingqueen:

    hi, wifey was eyeing this Akira TV as well (cos of the design look like samsung), but in the end my frens said AKira CMI... i dunno how true this is but we decided not to take the risk...in the end took a sharp...

    Are u using this TV liao? let us know whether it's good (or bad).. we considering getting this for our room.. hehe :furious:

    Izit within 3mths after one gets the house keys must show the rom cert to hdb??

    Also need two to go hdb or jux one would be fine?

    any1 person will do, also no need to go down to HDB hub, just submit it to ur HDB branch office would be fine. u can also mail a photostated copy to them. For me, i scanned and emailed to my HDB officer-in-charge...

    do quote from Ho Bee, or other ID have the electrical quote? my fren can get the contractor/ID to quote like how much for per scv pt, or how much to re-run the lights, etc etc.

    but most id i go to, dont do that leh. is it possible to get the quote? is it better to get them to quote first?

    yes patrick do have his own electrician to provide for changing of lighting pts, addtional lighting pts etc... he can give u quote for electrical works dun worry...

    i see... anyway i called him this afternoon, asked him some question and request to view some of his works. He said currently his projects all on tiling works, not yet to capentary, but can go down to his workshop @ kranji to see see look look. I arrange to go down tml, but will be meeting ah keong instead.

    ah keong told me he meeting customer today...so it's u haha... actually his workshop also nothing much to see, cos when they finished the work, they will bring it straight up to the unit to install and clean, most of the stuffs there are 'raw' products, not the final one yet. even the laminates they glued (some of) it at the unit... and very dusty alot of sawdust and there are many such workshops in the row... u might wan to prepare a face mask... hehe... ah choo

    OMG, 21 projects is a LOT, no wonder i seem to be talking to Mrs Quek most of the time. haha. I just rec quote from patrick... seems to me that his pricing is significantly lesser than those ID firms.

    Can anyone confirm that? cuz i am a little amazed as compared to ID firms... his pricing is about 20% cheaper like that...? Or is it because the ID firms all trying to cheat me ah!:P thanks!!

    if u call his office, most likely it's Mrs Quek who will pick up the call, cos patrick is usu not in office, he's moving around the worksites... if u wan to reach him, gotta call his handphone... chances are greater...but anyway Mrs Quek can also arrange for workers to go up.. so i guess u call Mr or Mrs Quek is also the same...

    Are the items listed the same with all quotes?

    Patrick is cheaper? hmm mabbe he's a contractor but if u compare to another contractor's pricing i think he's on the high side... but anyway i dun mind paying a bit more for a better piece of mind.

    got your pm. received his quote also.. i think my items not much.. pricing like not much different from the other quote i got.. I think less things harder to bargine eh... =/

    any idea how you all met up with patrick? go down to his office? I read the previous posts, not much things to see from his office.. :dancingqueen:

    Tiles chosen!!

    Top tile ---> for kitchen and Svc Balcony (30x30 Ceramics)

    Tile on Right ---> Entrance foyer and Balcony (60x30 Ceramics)

    Tile in center ----> Rest of the house (60x60 polished homogenous)

    I really love the tiles for the kitchen and balcony.. dunnoe Y i dun really fancy 60x60 polished homogenous tiles. we took very long to decide upon the homogenous tiles~

    hope that it will turn out swee swee for our new house!:dancingqueen: cant wait to for reno to b completed.. though its not even started yet :rolleyes:

    is the 60x30 tiles of the shiny type? those marble-lookalike? i heard from one of the tile saleman that it's not suitable if u have pets at home... cos their nails might scratch the shiny surface...

    Anyone got the final quotations from patrick, can to share with me?

    Interested to know the pricing of these stuff:

    - feature wall for bomb shelther

    - display cabinate

    - doing a platform area

    - do 2 bi-fold doors for bathroom

    - painting, chemical wash and lay protection sheet

    I was quoted $5.50 psf to supply and lay 60x60 homo tiles. total cost for my living room, study room and 3 rooms of my EA is almost 6k!:sport-smiley-018:

    I saw most forumers' quote was ranging $3.00 - $4.50 psf.. was I over quoted??

    How do U think of Nam Huat tiles?? Went there yesterday.. but found that their 60 x 60 homo tiles range very limited.. the one that I fancied they dun have stock!!

    mabbe u were quoted for better quality tiles?

    finally signed the contract with my ID, reno loan approved, cement screeding done. ID told us that target to start reno on the 21st. i'm starting to feel the excitment already.. heh.. :dancingqueen:

    but also quite sad that we have to take out so many "decorative purpose" things from the reno due to budget.

    good good must post many nice nice pics here for us to admire leh... hehe

    the walls looked fine.. no serious defects that make me :sport-smiley-004::sport-smiley-004:

    i think the HDB got contractors to do up the unit before we get the keys.. as we waited for 2+mths for it..

    there was this one door knob left on the floor.. when I checked ard.. all the door knobs were intact on the door.. somemore the taps r brand new..

    so I really think that HDB got the unit checked and retified before I got the keys .. :sport-smiley-004:

    btw, I will b at my unit later ard in the afternoon 1+pm..

    I am gg out to the doc liao.. will PM u my contact.. send me a sms if u r interested to spot check defects for me.. I am doing all alone cos hubby cannot get leave at all..

    hmm u are lucky then.. sighz.. mine got a few uneven walls around... sianz... but plastering the walls will cost alot of $$.. haiz and wifey dun like plastering also she say the plasters will crack after sometime... so gotta live wif it lor... i feel not too bad... if u dun observe carefully, u wun c te 'unevenness' i think now HDB walls most got such probs dunno where is their QC... haiz...

    I also working leh... u gimme ur fone num, not afraid ur hb will think otherwise? hehe :notti:

    i will only b at my unit on saturday/sundays leh... if u are around then can go up mabbe wif wifey to kpo hehe no see 'bare house' before... now quite busy wif work ..sianz sianz

    really dun have leh... the door knobs look new.. tap mixers r new - no doubt.. toilet seat got sticker.. but can clean off. Window Panes no scratches from what I know !! the rubber gasket at bomb shelter is intact.. main door no scratches..

    Jus only the toilet door became yellowish with age.. den the main gate is filled with the stickers stain.. but hubby said can use paint to cover..

    U wan to see my unit?? I am gg there to check again tomolo afternoon.. keke..

    wah so good i think they went there to 'patch' up before handing over the unit to u... wat abt the walls? are they even? got any bulges? depressions anything? mine got sianz cannot do anything abt it also.. haiz :P

    but I dun have any defect to report except that the toilet door was 'old' looking with many stains..

    haha.. oso dunnoe whether I got check thoroughly anot.. but I dun really find any serious defects ard.

    the nxt complain is that there r some orange stains between the tiles on certain part of the wall in the toilet.. :dribble: but oso dunnoe how r they gg to retify it..

    no defects?? cannot be lah, HDB service should be that good... bomb shelter door old looking? check windows, got any gaps? handle corroded? screws corrodeD? all the door handles.. rusty? got stains? toilet seats got the sticker? stains? window panes got scratches? just write everything u dun feel good about...

    tat time i submited 2 pages of defects to them, but i dun think they fixed all... but at least the more major ones they fixed... so i never go pester them...

    ur unit so good no defects... must go up and see...

    hmm... so I just submit that as a defect den the officer will come and I request for other doors?

    ya.. but most likely the HDB officer wun come down... she will pass the list to the contractor and the contractor will call u for a joint inspection... during the inspection u can ask him to change the doors and he will ask whether u wan to change back to the old type or the new type, he will show u a catalog...

    for my case, he ask me.. so if he didn't ask u, u can ask him... hehe

    wifey and me also eat food court and hawker center food...

    sometimes we pamper ourselves wif resturant food but that's only once in a while...

    personally i find that the resturants are overcharging... before u even start eating...

    10% service charge

    5%(now, gg to be 7%) GST

    15% gone just like that, sometimes the service and/or food aren't that excellent also ...

    I din hear any areoplane leh.. but the smell was quite distinct.. I smelt it before when I went to JP after I took half day leave.. mayb I have sensitive nose.. not sensitive ears.. hahaha

    anyway, if the door that they're changing is the same old door.. den better give it a miss~!

    Later I am going down to my unit to check for detects.. as well as check for afternoon glare.. !!

    no no they will change to a nicer design door... not the old one... if replace the old door then FOC... if change to another design then need to top up... anyway the designs are limited also...
