  1. Agreed! We went to Tradehub21's branch and the service there is similiarly good. Their supervisor from the warehouse next door even showed my hubby how to install one of the lights, change bulb etc to curb hubby's curiosity.
  2. Ugly piping we can live with since it will be boxed up. It's the numerous joints that he likes to use that ick us. We hate joints!! Higher risk of leakage. He also likes to put the on/off valves at places where it will be difficult to get to next time after completion. Imagine putting a valve in a "would be boxed up" spot . Grey cells went numb or what??? I can't wait for our lights to be installed too. Anxious to see the effect. We will have a pale looking house. We have arranged for our new stuff to be delivered only after the handover date (8/7) as we still have 3 days to move our few things back before we vacant this rented place on 11/7. Things stored at my sister's place can be moved back over the weekends. No rush
  3. Heim, $7K for electrical? That's steep! Must have a lot of pts and lightings.
  4. In that case, I better camp there when the cabinets are being installed early next week. Miao miao. Thanks heim for the warning
  5. Muahaha .. Yesterday complain about plumbing .. evening redo ..tiles also changed. This morning I went up for inspection .. considered pass liao lah! I very lenient already. If hubby goes up, sure redo one spot again. Our plumbing uncle has an unusual aesthetic sense. He doesn't seems to like straight lines. I closed both eyes on that one. If not, the poor tiler has to come again and again and again .. thru no fault of his. Ceiling people already detected 1 leaking joint in front of us and Andrew yesterday. So ceiling people has an additional responsibility to check for leakage before any box up. Final stage of false ceiling and box up will be done today. Painting will be done over the weekend.
  6. I must say till now, Andrew has been doing a great job in keeping his contractors on their toes. It's just that there will be a couple of smart alec who think that they can get away with murder. Andrew is quick in spotting flaws and wants an even quicker redo before we spot them. They would want to try their luck of us not seeing the flaws. We may have "lau hua" but we are not blind leh. It is human nature that once I see you trying to cover up, I will make sure to scrutinie every single corner, tiles and pipes. Worse, right? His ceiling people are the best!! :good: They work not with just their hands, but with their eyes, brain and heart! :sport-smiley-003: Next week, we'll see which carpenter fair better :sport-smiley-004:
  7. Ohh yes.. we called Andrew last nite and met up this morning at 10.30am. The plumber are now at my place doing rectification. Tilers will come on Sat to change those tiles cracked and spoilt by plumber. Plumber is those typical uncle who thinks he eat salt more than we eat rice. Likes to grumble at other contractors if they get in his way. Very fixed in his idea. Supposed to do my place on Mon but said not free but will come on Wed morning with Andrew's presence, so that Andrew can instruct him how he wants things done. Suddenly turned up on Tue instead just because he is free. Expect Andrew to instruct him thru phone. Certain things cannot be explained over the phone one. By the time Andrew reached my place, the damage is already done Too bad, some things we can close one eye but not this time. He had install the storage heater so high up that he only left 1 inch from the ceiling for the false ceiling worker to do up a 2 inches false ceiling. When he install the bracket, Andrew specifically told him to leave enough height for the the false ceiling and he said "can, can, I know". Result - REDO lor! Wasted everyone's time!
  8. Hubby just came back with a very very black face. :furious: The plumbing is atrocious! 8| :jawdrop:
  9. Heellloo Heim, Next Sunday will be handover day .
  10. Thanks He's now busy with another biggy flat. Without the 3D designer, he needs to hand draw everything plus hunting high and low for my marble. If you need his opinion on the dining light, why not take photos of the shortlisted ones and send it to him by email.
  11. My marble slates gave him the most headache. Now left with the marble skirting. Have to specially send the required ones for grinding to the correct thickness in order to harmonise with the old skirting. I will be having 2 different group of carpenters to quicken the reno. Living room, balcony and kitchen will be one and the bedrooms will be another.
  12. Sure they are not looking forward to the snacks and drinks? Hehehe. Initially, my hubby and I take turns going there anytime, any day, everyday. Then the various contractors started asking " you stay very near huh?" Then when they see me looking around for flaws, you can see them tensed up (especially the tilers).
  13. Have been checking on curtain makers recommended by RTers. Went to IKEA today with my dimensions for a rough quote. Just one room of blockout curtains (no day) will cost me $196 of which $70 is for the sewing. Still have to buy the rod and brackets. Delivery will be an additional $40 and if you want them to install the rod for you, the first 5 holes they drill will be charged $5 each. Subsequent holes will be $3 each. Quality of materials not too bad if you are looking at $14/m and above but workmanship sampling? No comment! Shortlisted 2 makers. Haven't gone up for the last 3 days, so dun know progress. Being a perfectionist, I think the lesser I see, the better for us all. Otherwise, I'll :bangwall: whenever I see any minor flaw. Stress everyone out! kekeke.
  14. Hehe, you toilet light is my WIW light. That's how small my WIW is.
  15. Battle, can PM me address of your lighting shop at Bt Timah? You're going there next week? Andrew asked whether I want to have a look see also.
  16. Had been using instant heaters all my life. Now is time to try storage heater .
  17. Laying marble slates now. Thanks to Andrew, managed to find as close a match as possible in term of colour. We'd hunt for marble slates ourselves too and found that currently, the colour of marble seems to be of a brownish tint. Ours is greyish. We are prepared that there will be quite a difference between the old (28 yrs old) and the new. Let's see how it turns out. By next week, tilings will all be done as well as plumbing, false ceiling for the 2 toilets and electrical works . Painting, carpentry, installation of lights and polishing should be done at the final week .
  18. Mine has no tiles for areas allocated for top and bottom cabinets because behind got wood backing. All other areas got tiles including to-be-boxed-up area as well as newly constructed "storeroom".
  19. Storage heater at MBR and instant heater at common toilet. We decided on this because the 2 toilets are separated by my dining area and MBR. Wun like to have too many pipes stretching from one end to the other. Moreover, storage heater will have to be huge too, if not "bo lark".
  20. Hehehe. When WE move out, we did exactly that for 3 weeks till the place is empty. We will be doing that again after reno. Yours no need to acid wash or polish/vanish floor mah?
  21. Hubby went up yesterday and happy to note that the tiles are replaced . In fact, there are other areas which Andrew had asked tilers to redo earlier but with a mindset that since owner never complain, why Andrew so "gan jiong" . We had a work arrangement that we will direct all complaints etc to ID and let him sort it out. The day B4 my complain, tilers already kena from Andrew. Day after, after hearing from me(with Andrew's presence) too, "guai guai" fast fast replace.
  22. I suggest you measure your main door/gate opening before buying the fridge. If your flat has already completed LUP, measure the new lift door too.
  23. Yeaaa.. that's the one. Let me try it first and see whether it is a product defect. I'll update the verdict here in July. We chose this because it is the 2nd smallest being displayed in the shop.
  24. The mismatched tile on the floor will definitely be out but I'm not sure what he'll do with the tiles at the toilet door. Tiler blamed it on the tiles, said once door fixed and grouting done, not obvious but Andrew said it is the way the tiles are cut and after grouting, can still be seen. Let them sort it out lor! I'll ask Andrew again today.
