We are still sourcing for dining chairs. Thinking of mixing different chairs. We need more greens and art! Our bedroom...it's lacking a giant poster!

Some people have asked to see my kitchen. I have delayed doing so because we hadn't fixed up some things yet. Our doors were fixed up after we came back from our honeymoon. We had chosen the same laminate as pinkwhale as we felt the woodgrain looked very natural. But when we first saw the doors, we were not entirely convinced they suited our home. We thought it looked a little dull and brown in our kitchen. Then we realised that perhaps this laminate will look better against black because it lacks abit of visual distinction against white. Initially, we were beating ourselves for not choosing black for our cupboard laminate, but after awhile, the kitchen kind of grew on us. Now, it looks quite fine to us. But we told our contractor we would like to do two doors instead of one big slab of a door for our tall unit to break up the brown. Mr Paloma is also thinking of adding handles to the cabinets to break up the brown. What do you guys think? Our kitchen Should we add handles? Hmm... The other side of our kitchen

Thanks adidaem for your kind words! Yeah I try to find time everyday to relax in my favourite corner, rather than clean, clean, clean! Pinkwhale, no worries, you are more than welcome to visit my home. Another renotalk member, who is also K's client, has already been to my place. Here's a shout out to piknik, you are welcome to visit my home too. I finally have a fridge after many weeks of waiting, so at least I can offer you a drink.

At least it's not in the room! One reason why we didn't want a TV was also because my husband didn't want to design the living room around the TV. That has worked for us because we have more room to play around with our furniture.

Hi, thanks for your kind words! I checked out your blog, is your house done?
-
Hey, I'm not sure whether the cement was white but my grouting is white. And no, it wasn't painted, we left it as it is.
-
Totally understand. In fact, my house is not fully done yet, and we've been living in it for almost two weeks now? Our electrical stuff are not fully done and there's still some painting to be done. We are not completely satisfied with our kitchen too so I'm thinking there'll be more work done there too. Not to mention, I still have five unpacked boxes. It never ends!

Ya I don't watch TV. I know it seems very odd but actually it really makes the home more peaceful! And there's more interaction in the family. Try it!

Orange is very retro too. Since you like the colour, you should go for it! Yeah I think dark blue will be too dull for your house. I read that you were considering this yellow scallop chair? Where did you see that? Actually, I was very hesitant to have the brick wall in red initially. We only decided to go with it when we saw the colour at the tile shop. And even then, it was my husband who thought it'll work. In the end, he made a good choice because the wall does add more warmth and depth to our home. We love looking at it and that corner is now one of our favourite. Have you moved into your new home yet? It looks like it's quite completed.

Hey BC, your house is so spacious! Wish we had so much space! Actually it's difficult for me to say what colour will suit your home as you will know your home's colour palette best. But I took a look at your photos, if you are looking for a pop of colour, perhaps a teal chair might work? it goes well with yellow. Personally, I don't think orange looks good on the papa chair. Then again, I'm biased cos I love teal! You could also consider the same colour fabric as mine but I'm not sure if it's too dark for your house as you mentioned that your floors will be stained dark brown. Hope this helps!

Actually I called up ahma on wheels and several other reputable ones and the price was all around $350-$400 for 4-room flat. Yeah I know it sounds pricey but I was quite impressed that they came with so many workers and the service was good.

Oops, ok, I just cleared it.

Hi the letters are from Typo. 3 for $10. I think they come in white and black. We spray painted them teal. As for the post-reno cleaning, I engaged Home Cleanz in the end. There were about five men who came to clean my house. They took about 3hrs to finish the job and it cost me $350. I would say they did a pretty good job. But my area just gets dusty very easily because of all the construction and renovation works going on around us. Still, I don't regret getting help to do the first round of cleaning. It makes the cleaning later on easier.

Hey thanks for liking our place. I'm sure when others look at your place, they'll think it's great too In fact, many times, when we look at other people's houses, we wonder why we didn't do our house in the same way. But home improvement is an ongoing process, which is why we enjoy seeing what others do with their homes. Opens up the mind to possibilities! Cool, you are getting the papa armchair? Where from? We struggle a lot with colour coordination too, I think it's the hardest part of the reno. We'll be happy to give you our humble opinion but it's a little hard to visualize how your space looks like now. Share a picture?

Hey I think it was slightly more than $100.

Hi there, yes we got the armchair in Singapore's Ikea! I read from elsewhere that it's actually a limited collection in Sweden. Not sure how it ended up in Singapore, but that's good for us! We grabbed it immediately when we saw it at Ikea's Tampines store. There's also one in bright turquoise, which we also love, but we thought red will play off better with our other dark blue armchair. Wish they brought in the yellow one though! http://a-mad-tea-party-with-alis.blogspot.sg/2011_04_01_archive.html

Hi guys, we got the Tom Dixon replicas from ebay! It was about $200+ for all, but I wouldn't recommend getting them from the same site as there were dents and scratches on the lamps when they came. You can't see them in the photos but they are there. Until now, we have not been able to get our partial refund. Also, the base is not exactly like the actual lamps. They should be conical instead of the round ones that we got. My husband was very perturbed by this for awhile. That said, I've seen the lamps in light shops in Balestier. I think they cost about $200+ each.

Hi there, it's from Scanteak.
-
Oh yes, thanks for the tip!

Does anyone know where to get nice and affordable Persian rugs?
-
Yup! They have nice homeware stuff!

The fan is from Mustafa and the dining table is from Picket & Rail. It's 180cm by 90cm.

Our dining table arrived today. Finally, no more eating on the floors! The copine table Our tulip sidetable and our recent Ikea buy, the red Albacken armchair Quirky doll from New Zealand - we love the colours!
-
Hey the tiles are from HDB. I think they are ceramic tiles. They looked glossy in the photo because I had just mopped the floor when the photo was taken!

Hi pacificblue, we have not received our fridge yet but it'll be placed near the service yard door opposite to our sink. Shall post pictures when it arrives.
