  1. Hey all, thanks for supporting this t-blog after so long! How time flies! It's been more than two years since we moved into our home.

Now that our family is expanding (yay!), we have outgrown some of our furniture and have to part ways with them (sobs). If you are looking for a mid-century modern sofa for your home, here's one to consider:

    gallery_42384_496_206101.jpg

We are letting go of our beloved sofa for $850. It's in a very good condition and was originally $1,580 from Room of Woods.

The frame is made of teak wood and the cushion covers are in merino grey with white piping. The length is 145cm and the height is 86cm.

If you are interested to take over it, please PM me! Thanks!

  2. Hi everyone,

Thanks for continuing to follow our t-blog and also for all your kind comments! I'm very sorry but I'm not able to respond to all the requests for K's contact as I do not log in to the forum often these days. I noticed there are some new K customers who have started t-blogs and are active on the forum, so those interested may want to get the contact from them :) Again, for those who have asked me to share my quotation, I'm sorry but I don't do that. In any case, it won't be very relevant now (it's been a year since my renovation was done!).

We have been enjoying our new lives in our home and it's been quite interesting to see how our home has evolved - almost the same but not quite! I'm still thinking whether to share photos. :)

    Hello there!
I'm very impressed by your house. Have 2 questions after reading your blog..hope you can advise me on these matters.
    1) May I ask where did you buy your kitchen lights from?
    2) I saw that Mr Paloma is a photographer. Just wondering if you guys made any of your rooms as a home photography studio? I'm a freelance photographer and am thinking to transform one of my rooms as a studio. Hence, was wondering if you have any recommendations on where I can get studio lightings/ backdrops etc at a reasonable price..
Thank you very much and congrats on your beautiful home!

    Hi Yagiza,

    1. The kitchen lights are from Ikea.

    2. No, we don't have a photography studio in our home.

Hi Paloma, may I know is it difficult to maintain the tile counter-top? What is the condition one-year on?

    Thanks.

Hi Sago, I wouldn't say it's difficult but you do need to be careful with it. I think I shared before that I dropped a glass bottle on my counter and one of the tiles chipped. But my contractor was very generous and kind to replace it for free! Tiles are very easy to clean, but if you are a carefree cook and don't want to worry about cracks and all, you might be better off with a more durable countertop.

  3. All your furniture looks different yet very put together! Were the idea & design all yours? :D

I'm still undecided whether I should go for ID or contractor, not so confident of my taste :P

Hi Juxtapose, the ideas were my husband's. If you engage a contractor, they may give you some suggestions but you will have to come up with the concept yourself and do the decision-making.

I think it just takes research and after awhile you'll figure out the things that you like :)

  4. Hi paloma,

It's me again! finally collecting my keys. Wanna buy some pendant light for my kitchen from Ikea, but not too sure should i buy the 40cm or 50cm diameter ones?! the size of ur lights (in the kitchen) looks just appropriate, how big is that? and is it bright enough for your kitchen since u have no other light source too! thanks a mil!

If I'm not wrong, mine is 40cm. Yes it's bright enough. There is light from the hood and above our sink too. Plus my kitchen is open so light comes in from the living room too.

  5. Hi Paloma,

Seeing some great design in your house!

Need some help and advice here. Regarding the brick wall that you have done in your bedroom, how many cartons of bricks did you use for the wall? Also, how did you get such a good mix of grey, orange and white tiles?

I have asked around but the shops only sell one colour per carton, not a mixture.

Sorry but I don't know how many cartons of bricks we used. They are all white craftstones but each piece will have some tones on it, that's how we achieve the effect.

  6. How many sets you do for your mbr ? 1set?

Your other rooms also wooden blinds?

Your living room curtain only 1layer?

Hi there are three sets of blinds in my MRB because we have a set of small windows by the side.

Yes, we used blinds for all our other rooms and our living room windows are covered with a sheer curtain.

  7. Hi from what I had seen in a few of K brands house, I can feel it's really a joy to stay in a nicely constructed house with good workmanship. But I am not sure whether I can afford to get him. Sad... Btw can I check with you what's the brand and code for your red brick wall. Does the color seems natural to you?

Hi, actually there's no need to spend too much on renovation. My reno cost was actually quite low, compared to what I read on renotalk. Spend more on the furnishings and decor. They'll make more impact.

Yes, the colour is natural. You can request for the tiler to break the pieces up if you want it to look even more raw. Sorry I don't have a code or brand.

  8. Hi Paloma, I am looking to construct a concrete kitchen base like yours but maybe with solid tops. Can you share with me your kitchen costing breakdown. Also do you know are we able to install normal pullout drawers and doors to concrete kitchen frame? Thanks so much. Please email me alex.yk.see@gmail.com

Hi sorry, I don't share specific costings. But yes, you can install drawers and doors.

  9. Hi,

Can I ask about the wooden blinds? There are 35mm thick & 50mm type to choose from, can I ask which one u chose?

Also, is it very heavy to lift using the pulley system?

Hey we chose the 50mm ones. Hmm, it does take some effort to lift it up. Usually we leave it down and just flip the blinds up for light to come in. :)

  10. Hi, you really have a very nice n cosy house! Really love it so much!

Saw the picture above and realised you have install wooden blinds. It's very nice, may I know how much you did for your wooden blinds and the contacts please!

I am also interested on your black colour ceiling fan. May I know what is the brand and model no and how much is it?

Do you have the contacts of the supplier you bought the ceiling fan from?

Actually the info is all in my previous posts. :)

The blinds are from Golden Leaf, you can call them and check the price. I did the blinds for three rooms and curtains for our living room and it came up to $1850.

The ceiling fan is a petite fan from relite. You can check it out on their website. I paid $125 I think.

  11. Hi Paloma,

Would you mind to share the cost for the kitchen alone without hacking /flooring tiles?

Is everything still in good shape?

    Thanks a lot.

Sorry I don't share specific cost but yes, everything is still in good shape (hard for cement structure to go wrong) but do keep in mind that tiles may chip if you are not careful. Like me!

  12. Hi everyone, after a long hiatus, I'm back...to sell my fan!

The person who "choped" it the last time didn't follow through, so it's up for grabs again.

It's a white KDK baby fan, 44-inch blade, remote-controlled. We bought it from Goh Ah Bee at $170, with a year's warranty. It's brand new and still in its box, untouched. If you are interested, please PM me, thanks!
