  1. Hi Seng, congrats on getting ur flat, & welcome to the 3-roomers' club & to RT! :)

Hv a pleasent 1st appt on 元宵节/V-Day, & look forward to an exciting & smooth reno journey! :D

The 'garden walkway' leading to ur unit very nicely done up, at least looks quite well-maintained.. but it does limit the walking space & will pose hindrance to ur reno (materials & furniture delivery, etc.)

  2. There is another solution if you see my blog (The first picture)

Increase the size of your bathroom by 2ft out (Meaning the need to spend to hack and erect the wall of bathroom) and use right angle basin. This should allow you enough space for your shower area ...

    (*Just my 2 cents worth)

Hi bros, pardon me, but i think expanding the toilet (wet area) i.e. hacking the original toilet wall & pushing it out into the MBR is definitely a no-no by HDB.. do check it out first.. ur ID/contractor should be able to advise..

Most ppl i saw did their basin/vanity outside the toilet & builded an extra wall to screen this area instead. The flooring of this area is also often tiled up as washing at the basin will wet the floor (especially if the MBR is laminate flooring)

    Just sharing.. :)

  3. Thanks a lot ...

The reason of not posting the quotation yet is

    1. due to placement of some things not yet confirm and quotation are based on few different design.

    2. the housing renovation pictures and quotations are in a mess thus will wait while when I am a little more free to sort out the mess of the papers. Hahahaha ~

Sure! That's all part of the excitement isn't it? More to come hor bro! :P

Feel free to share when ready. We can share our experiences too! Cheers!

PS. Can PM me.. I may be able to share my detailed quotations (from multiple IDs) did up in a spreadsheet.. the prices may not be valid but the line items may be helpful :)

  4. Just to share, did a complete overhaul of my 28-yo 3A (74 sqm) abt 1.5 yr ago in 2012 at >$45K (prices might have changed since). Included everything except retained the 2 bedrms' flooring (overlaid with laminates) & 3 original metal door frames (living & bedrms).. also hacked the original storerm (2 walls) & re-erected it (2 new walls) into the kitchen area.

However, agree with claypot that it may be difficiult to comment w/o looking at the details - scope & extent of work (e.g. how much carpentary; i have quite a fair bit) & quality of materials used (e.g. granite vs. solid surface for kitchen top)

  5. My friend have told me the same thing about being too cheap is dangerous.

Thanks so much for the information, definitely will go to the websites and esp that link to take a look :good:

For my case I am not joining the 2 toilets as what you have bring out which I totally agree.

U can still consider combining the common & MBR toilets into one with acess frm both the MBR & toilet. U could lock the toilet door tt opens to the MBR from the MBR so that guest could not access to ur MBR frm the toilet. Hv come across a RT forumer who did it. Like tt u could create a vanity and shower screen in the otherwise small toilets separately..

  6. Hi Songz, welcome to renotalk and congrats on embarking on this exciting reno journey!

Take this time while waiting for your keys to formulate your design ideas and concepts & meetup with various IDs or contractors. Oh yes, don't just go for the cheapest quote, but go with one which is reasonably priced and where you can çlick' with the ID/contractor handling your project. It will be really important further down the road.

I found websites such as pinterest, houzz, home & decor (for some local flavour), apartment therapy, digsdigs to be particularly useful when we were trying to conceptualize our home and look for inspiration.

    All the best!

Oh yes, I like the idea of combining the 2 bathrooms into 1 too, but unless you want guests to walk through your mbr to get to the toilet, you will prob have to maintain the access from the kitchen.

Hi vicx, sorry our posts crossed.

Congrats & enjoy ur reno journey too! :)

See that u've engaged 3D Innovations (I also did mine by 3D 1.5 yrs ago). Have read that Jimmy is a good ID! U are under gd hands! :yamseng:

  7. Glad to see many fellow 3-roomers here!

Congrats bros & sis on ur flat acquisition!! :yamseng:

With good space planning, design & tasteful furninshing, small spaces can oso turn out swee swee! :good:

Have a smooth, and enjoy all ur reno journey!!

    @inthehouse same to u too!

  8. I have never heard of using this method to install the bathroom accessories. Wouldn't they drop off in due course?

But I can tell you there is no problem drilling into marble, granite or tile. I have done it countless times and your contractor would know how to do it too. Here is my DIY guide on how to do it.

Ya, epoxy though very strong, not sure can hold so strongly!

Do consult ur ID/contractor & share the advice. If really can, think it's not such a bad idea bcos the thought of having to change some of the drilled-in bathrm accessories in future but it will leave holes on the wall tiles (unless tactfully concealed by the new accessories) really is a concern..

  9. Hi Songz, congrats on ur new flat & welcome to the 3-roomers' club & to RT! :D

Ya do ur homework to gather as much ideas as possible, & consider the options & budget carefully! Take ur time if time is not a critical factor (know the eagerness to do it though :P)

Njoy ur reno journey! Looking forward to our sharing experience with u & seeing the transforamtion! :yamseng:

  10. Hi amirahpaul (guess it's amirah & paul? ;))

Welcome to the 3-roomers' club & congrats on ur reno completion! :yamseng:

Mind sharing which corner of the island ur unit is?

Mine oso a 74sqm 3A (of a different layout) & I oso moved the storerm from the living hall (to make space for a dining area) to the used-to-be huge kitchen but my kitchen becomes somewat small now.. probably due to poor space planning ba.. but my living hall does look a bit more spacious on the other hand.. well, i guess one can't win it all ba..

Ya boy, ur ceiling seems so highhh... just look at the space above the bedroom doorway even with the ceiling cove lights! :good:
