-
oh, they are 3 pieces and it's up to u to move them..as our place is small, we liked having such flexibility.
-
it's from commune at millennia walk..2199 but they have GSS now..if u get the table set it's 1199..
-

other items we have shortlisted: (expensive) bench from grafunkt. husband likes this (expensive) chair. he likes the green grass-like carpet and movable coffee tables too. we also shortlisted this tv console, partly due to space constraints. we also intend to get the white chairs behind - these are from LUSH LUSH we still need a bed frame, tv console, coffee tables, bedside tables, bench. we also need to start buying lights and sanitary wares really soon. everything's on hold as the husband will be away for work the next week while we await for renovation permit.

we have finally confirmed our contractor and will (hopefully) be starting our renovation in a week's time! it's has been a really long and tiring process after meeting many IDs and contractors, and having had many issues. we are using the same contractor which paloma and pinkwhale used, because we really like the feel of their homes. most importantly, we felt comfortable with him and he's also responsive, giving us quite a few suggestions. he's very experienced, so he'll tell us what is not feasible or do not go with our theme. he's probably one of those rare few who actually gets the scandinavian feel we wanted, as even many IDs don't seem to get it and kept questioning what we wanted. he's definitely not the cheapest contractor around, and he don't really speak english. we also didn't ask for any 3D drawings from him since we saw his works and were also very sure of what we wanted. i suppose this is purely chemistry and trust. we've already marked our electrical points and can start once we get the permit. hopefully, everything will go smoothly from now on.. :dancing queen: we have bought this dining table. and a matching sideback. both are from commune and he got them at a 5% discount. we also shortlisted this dining table from Grafunkt - they are also having sales up to 30% but it was really out of budget. we originally shortlisted dbodhi and white woods tables, but opted for a less heavy table instead, for a more casual feel to match the brick wall. we still can't decide between this. and this. husband prefers the huge 2-door fridge because it looks good. but i'm practical and would rather get the smaller one since i can't think of what to buy to fill the huge fridge! the electrical bill would be substantially more too!!!

we have considered granite/marble/solid top because it may rain..but contractor also mentioned that solid top scratches, especially if someone's jeans has those tiny buttons at the butt area..haha..so we decided not to spend 2k on the bay window and just add some cushions..at least for now..if want to add solid top or granite, it should be easy enough.. ay! if the paint goes off or dirty, repaint lor! cheap and not that much work..
-
personally i feel that it's the most economical and durable choice for wood-like flooring ba..we checked out many options.. i'm not doing my bay window. do people usually do up the bay windows with tiles???
-
yea it's cheap, and most importantly i like the color and grains.. =) we didn't have a chance to even choose tiles from HDB as ours is from SOBF.. but don't think i would have chosen HDB tiles anyway!

We finally got our dining table and sideback today! We've been visiting many furniture shops, in search for the perfect dining table. I love wooden tables and wanted something from Dbodhi at Journey East at first, but hubby didn't really fancy it and prices weren't cheap. We also love Grafunkt's dining tables, but it's really out of budget. White Woods, Air, mountain teak also has some nice pieces, but I settled for a less heavy look instead. Karell's dining table and sideback from Commune. http://www.herworldplus.com/shopping/updates/shopping-updates-wallet-friendly-designer-furniture-commune Commune is also starting their GSS from this Saturday, but they gave us the discount anyway! Do drop by, discounts from 5-10% with some great package deals.

with $4.20 tiles it set us back about $680..
-
the tiles we chose was $2.79 (with gst) and was quoted about 6.5k..it's smaller 15x60 and cost more to lay..he's not the cheapest compared to other contractors, but we liked the tiling works he has done.. u can try to drop by soon bee huat, they have a huge showroom with small areas of such tiles so you can visualize how it looks like..alot of selections too..we were concerned about the gout lines, but felt that it was acceptable..
-
we were also abit worried about that..but we've seen other places doing it, and it looks acceptable to us..since we wanted the wood look, but also want durable and less problems, we chose this..i think the tiler matters..i've seen my contractor's mosaic and tiny honeycomb tiles, he should be able to help us achieve the look ba!

hello! they are not laminates..i dislike laminates because of the feel when you step on it..doesn't feel solid to me.. as i wanted wood color and same flooring for the whole house, i considered bamboo or parquet but both were not recommended for kitchen..i also considered high-end resilient flooring which is similar to laminate but waterproof, but water may seep through the click system causing mould.. i end up going for the most practical (and durable) flooring - good old traditional tiles! good for future when kids push toys around..i'm surprised that there is a lot of selection for wood-grained tiles now..it only cost $2.60psf..u can drop by soon bee huat near IMM..

We went to choose flooring today. We should be using these tiles for the whole house for the illusion of bigger space and continuity. It has the most beautiful wood-grain and shade that I love. And the best thing about it? The price! Cheap and wallet-friendly. Love the mosaic and wondering if we could do a strip below our mirror in the common bathroom. For the feature wall in the common bathroom. For the feature wall in the MBR toilet. Hopefully can finalize everything and start renovation soon!

I'm not sure if everyone already knows this store in Jcube called Franc franc, but I'm really excited about it! It was my favorite store in Japan, and Sweden had a similar store. I'm a sucker for these colorful and beautiful home accessories! they will be opening a bigger store in Vivo in June! I'm so lucky that it opened right when I'm going to have my own place. =D They have things like clothes pegs in pastel colors and flower/bird shaped instead of the boring ones we are used to. everything looks beautiful! This is their online catalog, it's totally worth a visit! http://www.francfranc.com/eng/

hey did u overlay all the toilet tiles? cuz it's a different color in the drawing.. i can't stand the patterned wall...!
