  1. Will be completing my HDB resale renovation around end of August 2018. i haven't been able to find any post renovation cleaning services or reviews in renotalk forum. Need to clean the entire house before my furniture delivery. Any recommendation and price? Appreciate the inputs.
  2. So far still ok, i didn't get the claws, the silicon works ok. its been 1 month after the renovation, the boss of my renovation works never send me the final revised quotation(though i repeatedly asked for it initially and he just reply me he was too busy), just last week, he suddenly called up my mother and said that there is still balanced $2000 to be paid and that the quotation has been send to my email, but i haven't receive any mail...
  3. very disappointing to have this kind of contractor... i am having a similar problem with different kind of issues with my contractor....
  4. The grip claws didn't come with the hob. My contractor just applied silicon on 2 sides of the hob. i maybe going buy myself then fix it up, c how first..
  5. Just like to share my interesting experience in this renovation company. I recently engaged this company (Parklane Design and Contract), the boss (Mr Sim) is the person dealing with me. The following are the brief experiences i got: 1. Delay in quotation sent by nearly a month. Explanation given was: Mr Sim insisted that the quotation has been sent to my mail, but there was no reply from me. However i did not receive any emails. 2. Mr Sim showed clear extreme displeasure in his words/facial and actions upon cancelling some of the jobs which i deemed overpriced, for example plumbing works which i spent only 1/2 hr completing was charged at a couple of hundreds. Remarks given was that i was not supposed to make so many changes to the original renovation plan, however the changes was suggested by me before work commence. 3. Revised quotation during course of work confirmation was superbly slow, even up til now, after all the renovation work has been completed(though unsatisfactory) the final quotation is still not presented. Explanation given was: he was too busy. 4. Built in hob was extremely shaky after completion. Explanation given was: it is normal, we are supposed to fix it ourself with plasticine. 5. The lever switch for the PUB gas was hidden by a piece of plywood in the kitchen cabinet. When requested that the lever be exposed such that my mom can have easy access, Mr Sim say nobody does it that way and if there is a need to, simply off the main gas lever outside of the house. 6. The TV console was built to the wrong dimensions, 1 drawer was blocked by the window grill. Explanation was that the dimensions were done before the window grills were put up. When i suggested sliding doors instead of drawers, such that the dimensions will not be affected, the answer given was: it is a waste of his materials(a loss of his profits). 7. Top of TV feature panel was not flushed. Explanation was that it is for me to install lighting, however this lighting installation was never discussed before. When i demanded him to flush the top of the panel, he did some changes which can easily go unnoticeable. 8. The inside of wall cabinets are all white(sadly this wasn't discussed before work). when i requested him to change, he say everywhere is the same, nobody does different colors on the side. However i remember seeing wall cabinets having the same interior laminates as the exteriors, on top of that, there were the workers dirty handprints on the white interiors of the cabinet. 9. The boss likes to take advantage of old ladies who are unclear of what is going on, for example, asking my mum to pay up the rest of the renovation when we were not around, and asking my mum to use plasticine to complete the sealing of the built in hob ourself.. 10. One final thing i can remember for now is that Mr Sim never replies sms which is of no value to him but important to me, for example question like when can i receive the quotation or is there laminate stocks avaliable.
  6. understand very clearly now, thanks for the pictures..
  7. i just realized that i forgot 1 important issue with my contractor... all this time he was liasing with my mother, only when i tell him off, he will listen but still give unsatisfactory results... It seems that this contractor is very good is "bullying/faking" old people who lacks knowledge in renovation..
  8. the contractor came down today to fix the hob. once again, he surprises me, he actually suggested silicon last time as a solution and today, he ask us for the silicon.... in the end, he got some silicon from some other contractors working around to fix the hob...
  9. its not only this hob that i have issues with, out of 100%, i can say that 95% of the renovation work i am not satisfied with... This is the first time i am dealing with renovation work, i am taking this as a very good experience.. i think my contractor next job is in Pasir Ris, hopefully the owner is clear about renovation work. If i wish to share the contractor company name and the contractor's name, can i post it here or do i only reply to pm?
  10. the battery compartment is below, but the position doesn't affect the fixing of the hob, and it is easily accessible. As for the cabinet, i had an idea that the inside laminate is the same as outside until my contractor finish building the cabinet. I was willing to pay extra for the inside laminate, but the contractor say no one does lamination on the inside..
  11. Do appreciate if you can show me the pic.
  12. So silicon is ok? Just a question, normally for the inside of built in cabinets, is it supposed to be all white or the same laminate as the outside surface? Because my contractor say it is all white.
  13. Went to check, don't have the clip screw you mentioned. Viewing below, it looks like the opening is too big as compared to the hob... My contractor most probably will be sealing with silicon, he mentioned that he will not redo the renovation work for the kitchen stove, it will be a waste of material and he will lose profit...
  14. i bought a built in hob for my new house and my renovation contractor fixed on the hob after building the stove support/cabinet and finally fixing the granite top. However, i find the hob not firmly fixed, it seems to be able to move slightly, is it normal? The answer given by my contractor: 1. It is normal 2. There is supposed to be a thin rubber fixed underneath the perimeter of the hob such that the "normal" gap between the hob and the support/cabinet can be filled so the stove won't shake. And that i was supposed to buy the rubber and fix it myself. 3. I was supposed to buy plasticine and fill in any gaps after i feedback to him that the rubber seems to be already there. 4. After i feedback to him that my neighbors stove doesn't move at all, he told me not to ask other people because his renovation has no problems at all. 5. Finally the latest solution is for me to call PUB up and fix the gas pipe, after which he will glue the hob to the kitchen top using silicon. Hopefully someone can help to answer my queries. Thanks.
