  1. My seller is one who didnt keep to their words. Initially on our 1st appointment, they agreed to help us sign the Indemnity form so that renovation works can start immeditaely on the day of 2nd appointment. However, when we gave them the form to sign they told us that they will not entertain us as we did not agree to their extension of stay (they were the ones who readily agreed to this date as it is the last day of the 8 weeks period given by HDB). Now, they do not even allow us to perform final inspection on the day before and claims that if we want, we can only do the inspection a few hours before the 2nd appointment. :furious: :furious: The marvellous thing of it all, their agent is refusing to answer phone calls saying that it is none of his business. :furious: to me, if they had said no to signing the indemnity form in the 1st appointment, I would have just forget it. but to me, they are truly despicable people. anyway, since I can't submit my reno application till after my 2nd appointment now, K has advised that we quickly get the PE to endorse the reno permit first so that on 2nd Nov, we should not have much delays as PE has already endorsed. According to the PE we engaged, he says that we do not really need to have the PE endorsement as there are no structural beams involved. However, I appreciate K's advice. He truly has the concerns of the customers at his heart and are not like some IDs who will say no problem no problem, end up big problems. thank you K!!!! you are the hero!
  2. congrats! where is your new house?

  4. Hi there! After gg to eunos, tradehub imm, furniture mall, we realize that tangs' is the one with a gd price at $598. Also we got back a 4% rebate and credit card points. There may be others with a gd price but the running around and checking on colors just make it seems that our buy is justified.
  5. Still at the same place but just adjust the location of the door. Hubby has been having the idea of wet an dry kitchen since 5 years ago but nvr materialized. As our herd grows up, it dawned on me that it is a must to have 2 kitchens
  6. Wow! ^5!! Hehe we saw many but when we came to see this and the price, we just know its too gd a deal to miss!
  7. we will be removing the utility room to extend the kitchen into dry and wet area. A store room will be constructed in place of the utility room.

  13. Haha potatoes, We are already feeling the strain from both the seller (who has already extended their full 8 weeks and is pulling out alot of stunts) and the buyer as every one is wanting to work the details according to their timing. Thankfully for us, we have settled on all tiles, hardware, lightings and also all the barang barangs to buy. So when the permit kicks in, we will just proceed to get everything in. Am trying real hard to upload pics now. In the meantime, we shall pray for many blessings ahead!
  14. This is a t-blog about our new hse. A 1st generation EM. We were excited when we first bought it exploring possibilities but am really tired now because the sellers were not someone who kept their honor. Anyway as 2nd appt is approaching, I just hope this will be a journey to a smooth renovation (which I believe will be in Mr K's gd hands)and hopefully we can shift in by Jan 2013. To start the ball rolling, instead of placing our floorplan here, we will like to thank fellow forumners, Potatoes and itsybits for being such wonderful friends, showing us their house and sharing with us their contractor details.

Wah, ur balcony so cool!!! :dribble: I have 3 kids but i think after much discussion w hubs and looking at your pic, we have also decided not to install anything or build any roof... just go kosong! of course it also means that I will have to constantly monitor and tell my kids to stay away.... (we are staying in lvl 30s now so far so gd!) next up for us is to monitor and check out different contractors. crossing fingers and hoping we get a gd deal!

Thanks Adidaem for the welcome!!!! your hse is so lovely and I am so thankful for the information you have on your blog! (Thanks potatoes again for pointing me there! ) I hope that it is a right choice to buy a gen 1 em since it is quite tight on floorspace. looking at the recent property market and the prices in hougang, I think mine was a fortunate buy haha! Am patiently waiting for the quotation from 1 contractor to come in and other ids to meet up with us.... hope we can start work soon on renovating!

  21. Hi all, Thks to all the pioneers here, finally a thread to tap on the expertise of everyone owning an EM. We are new EM Owners (Gen 1) and we didnt even thought to buy EM in the first place. Currently we have shortlisted our contractors based on the expertise and feedback of the seniors here... hopefully we will be able to find a contractor that will help us within our budget. Just to check with everyone here, how do you decide on whether to install grilles in your balconies, to install roof or even to do without any grilles? Also, as we are accidental EM owners, can pls share what is the difference between Gen 1, 2 and 3? Thanks!!
