  1. Hi,

I renovated my whole house about 3 years ago, and recently HDB is doing an home improvement plan for the whole block. I do not intend to re-renovate the toilet and bathroom because I have spent a lot of money on it and of course, they are pretty new. However, the waterproofing test failed for the bathroom and HDB requires that I either repair, or opt into the home improvement plan, tear down the whole bathroom and toilet/ or just the flooring and upturn. The second option though less hacking, poses another issue, the wall tiles I used are no longer available from the tile company.

I asked around and heard that there is a waterproofing method, which is using chemcial to flood the toilet and bathroom. HDB advised against that as it is on the surface treatment. Anyone tried that before? Can share with me how you find this method? particularly after 3 years, is it still effective as in no leakage to downstair unit? any "side effect"?

    thanks!

  2. no lah, unless he is willing to pay you back that amount you will use to ship it back to him lor...depending on who this seller is, u run the risk that he may not repair for you lor...

technically in china, he is supposed to pay for the amount that the buyer will take to ship back to him (rmb10 usually unless v big item) and on top of that, send a replacement product...your options are :

    1. 申请退款 : this is not dispute (维权), basically means amicable return of money to you, you then ship item back to him at your own expense, no replacement product

    2. same as 1, except that he pays you back more to cover your shipping expense, but you won't get a replacement product back

    3. 投诉维权 : this is taken very seriously, gives him a black mark and hits him on his rep...this one is usually last resort...

    4. let the money go thru and hope he sends u a working product...

    good luck !

thanks Dragonnite! Yes I need lots of good luck!

  3. i have only done returns when i was located in china, not worth it to send back from here...

there is no way to delay the payment release except on the seller's side i think - ask the seller...

    Thanks dragonnite.

ha, seller asks me to just pay and he will still help to repair then send back. maybe I should just ask the seller to give me a discount and I will stop bothering him. so sick, another forumer bought this product for himself and friends no problem and for me, everything that could go wrong for this house has happened.

  4. Any one ordered through Aliexpress and have issue with the item received? I ordered a peephole camera (see product here) and the image has problem. Seller advised to send back for repair and they will send to me after repair or even a new item immediately if the original is not scratched. I have two problems here:

    - I checked the cost to send back, via Singpost its around S$42 for something of that size! anyone know of more economically alternative and yet will not take too long to deliver? I wish to settle this soon.

    - Seller has requested that I do not open dispute (money is via escrow) and the confirming order deadline is ending, afterwhich money will be automatically released. I'm not really looking for a refund but is also not comfortable with just releasing payment. Anyone know how to delay the confirm order deadline? I emailed Aliexpress and no one replied. :bangwall: My first online order went all wrong. :furious:

Anyone have (unfortunate) experience in such matters and could provide some advice? thanks!

  5. Have been thinking if I should get this String pocket shelf. I like its simplistic yet chic look, it's a tad pricey though, one set of 2 panels and 3 shelves cost US$121.

    string03_zps1c602a46.jpg

Or this Ikea shelf that is going for $95?

    ikeawallshelf_zps7c4e4d2c.jpg

One thing good about String is that you can move the shelves up and down according to your needs, but Ikea ones are fixed.

Plan to use the shelf in the dining area, right above my dining bench. Will most probably display food/cooking related decor pieces eg vintage thermos I collected!

The String pocket shelf is much nicer. If you go to Foundry, which has something similar but more extensive (bottom shelves available), it is even more ex.

  6. I quite like the orangy yellow. BUT the rug is some plastic rug, i'm not sure how it feels like exactly.. the seller will send a sample piece to me!

I like the green one, but ya, orangy yellow will probably more suited for your interior color scheme. Wow, the seller will even mail sample to you. :good:

  7. =( serious? i'm doing white too leh...

Mayb if very careful n keep dry will be ok for very long? I got a colleague who did white glossy laminate, coming to 3 years, she say didn't turn yellowish. Anyway I also do white juz that its matt not glossy. The contractor say if turn yellowish will look creamy. Btw, he say all color will change, whether its white or not.

  8. YUMMY!!!!!

I think you can definitely work a white kitchen with those tiles!!! It'll be so cheerful to cook in!

I'm actually looking for some real antique ones I want to mount on canvas as art for my kitchen!

Nice! Initially I wanted something like this too, but the contractor bought me to soon bee huat, which don't have. I think these look nice as backsplash too. Or mix with some plain ones in between for flooring...

  9. I've moved in for more than 1 month but things still pretty messy. Haven't get my dining table and side tables. The worst is many warranty cards not sent yet. Find that a real hassle. Oh, and I just receive a warning letter from the authorities to update my address. I must be a really lazy person, which also explains why so long no updates...

    some small stuff I've got:

    408484_10151255035808285_753486324_n.jpg

first time assembling something. quite happy that i manage to complete independently, despite some errors in Ikea's instruction.

I've always thought that nice cushion covers are at a ridiculous price. I just don't understand why even the simple ones that I could accept cost more than $10. So i got my mum to sew. Found this cute canvas fabric in a shop at Pearl's market.

will update more photos hopefully soon.

    6026b0b7266ce8bc94d68353d32ad3edd8fc4b18_1000x1000.jpg

This should be something that is very common and i thot of getting this but can't seem to find in taobao. If anyone see please let me know ok? Thanks!

  11. My IntelliCorder is down after 1 year & the person who sold the recorder to me is not selling anymore.

There are still ppl asking me where to buy the intellicorder.

I managed to find it at aliexpress :D

I bought it at US$115, converted to sing$ around $150. :thumbs up:

The previous one cost me $320. :furious:

    Installation is quite simple IMO.

It took me only 20mins to install. :thumbs up:

    Here is the link. IntelliCorder

    Hi Sohnice

I still haven't got mine as still have some reservations on this. One year sound like a pretty short lifespan. Any thing you particularly like about this that make you decide to get the same thing again?

    thanks!

  12. Thanks! I bought the wine rack in Copenhagen 10 years ago . Got the idea of a chalkboard bar table from a scandinavian design website. The chalkboard and the yoga swing/hammock are clear favourites among my nieces and nephews

I like your chalkboard bartable. Putting pictures ob your beam seems to make ur ceiling look higher.

  13. agree with kim...the green one is not bad, only 1 bad review out of the lot, quite a few of the reviews look genuine to me...but i would do a search for more sellers if i were you...

just did a quick search (search term:欧式复古台灯 书房) and this seller looks to have better sales track record - poke around and see if they carry the colour/style you want...

    【子蘭】欧式复古典 银行台灯 实木书房民国老上海办公台灯 包邮

Thanks Dragonnite & Kim. The green one sold in many shops , I like also but don't match my room. Will search further and pay attention to the ratings and review. Thanks for the pointers. :)

  14. The side table I intend to get is storage cabinet - http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.w709870160.45.yZHxJk&id=14390934855&

Don't have to worry too much about lamps unless you are buying chandelier. I bought 4 ceiling lamps and they came well-packed.

Oh, I saw your side tables in Lifestorey... Nice!

The lamps I am looking at are:

    retro desk lamp

lamp for my dresser or this

    seems rather fragile leh.

  15. Amcon will repack? Yes, I plan to do so... the "biggest" item I want to order is just a side table.

Sorry, can share a pic of ur side table? I spent a lot of time searching, still didn't find one I like.

I planning to get the dining table nexer got. Anyone I could tag alone? but think that is quite huge.

I searched for table lamps also. So many nice ones but seem fragile n I dun dare to order via tb.

  16. Robinsons arrived on the same day with my mattress. Love it a lot, super comfy and looks great! :D

    20130209_112655_zps735d3c2b.jpg

I'm glad I held off buying a TV console until after I got my bed and mattress. The mattress is pretty high and I would need a slightly higher TV console, otherwise I won't be a

able to watch TV in bed without the bottom of the TV getting cut off from view.

Family & friends are joking that by the time I'm done furniture shopping and decorating my place, it will be time for me to retire.

Nice quilt cover! Haha, your speed can't be as bad as me.

  17. unless the shipping service can check it for you (65daigou apparently can do it for you, not sure about amcon), you're pretty much sunk cos it's not worth the $$ to send it back from SG...returns in CN is easy - i've done it b4, most times, the seller would reimburse the shipping charge back to you (usually rmb10, depending on size/weight) and replace it...only happens with the more reputable sellers as well...

so this is why i keep stressing the selection of sellers :sport-smiley-018: - u want to keep this possibility to a minimum, but be mentally prepared when it happens... :D

thanks Dragonnite. Ya I would imagine its troublesome. perhaps I should just keep to buying only hardy stuff...

  18. and for the lemon that occurs once in a while, this clock was it...

    timode clock

    T2SLRAXdRaXXXXXXXX_!!272909058.jpg

the packaging was very good (styrofoam etc) but it still arrived slightly cracked, and the needles are loose !

so even though this one has many good reviews etc, i should have paid attention to the couple which actually stated it was no good cos those are typically the actual truthful ones...anyway, was a $12 reminder to really read the comments carefully ! :sport-smiley-018:

    Hi all

Have been reading this page for the past 2 weeks. Wow, all of you very gungho, found many good deals from online. Actually I have been having this question, what happens if the items shipped over are damaged, eg., scratched or cracks? I saw many nice table lamps on taobao, crystal stand / glass shades, so much cheaper than buy from shops in Singapore. But worried of damage during shipping.
