Dear all, i would like to share with you guys my reno journey through this wonderful T-Blog. My happiness and joy in getting a place called my own after 1 1/2 years of searching and after numerous house visits. Please comment and ask questions if you want, afterall, the world is a very small place. To start with, i found this unit through propertyguru, it was one of those times, while in office, trying to laze of till 530pm. I could have directly called the other party and made arrangements myself, but hey , i rememebered that an agent serve me dilligently for the past few months, showing my countless number of units and was never pushy for sales. so hey, i am not someone who will forget a persons hardwork , so i let him did the transaction. And yes, he did not failed me, even to the last minute when there are only 2 parties eyeing for the unit. all in all i paid close to 75k COV. an amount of the high side but lets just say, i have to work another 10 years after my retirement. hahhahahah First appointment was in early june , 2nd appointment in mid sept. The agent was nice enough to pass me the keys to the place even before 2nd appointment as the previous owners have already moved out. After entering my new place with my wife and son, both she and i felt that the place was not as big as the first time that we have visited. the first was the open house, the 2nd time was when we signed the OTP. Maybe i was a bit tipsy when we went to confirm with the seller that night, but hey , i really like the place. above is the floor plan of my new house. btw, it located in the westside at toh guan .

My Reno alone cost me 80k mark after some nego. Been getting quotes of range between 60 plus to high 90's. Just looking on the Reno process is scaring me out. There are a lot of factors that you have to consider. My wife and I wanted to keep to the minimum to cut down cost. Keep lvl 2 flooring and staircase flooring. Keep windows and grills but hack the rest. At the end of the day, all were hack and replaced with new ones. Bear in mind, on top of Reno cost there are the scary ones you need to factor in Electrical wiring, Lights Electrical appliances Furniture Furnishing Aircon Gas water heater and dryer All in all, as hard as I tried, over blow my pocket by 25k. Been lurking in Renotalk for sometime ler and guess now at least I can contribute a bit to all the forumers here. Like many in this topic, I took recently bought an EM. At toh guan rd. first appt was in june, 2nd appointment was in sept. from there and then, me and my wife have been visiting a few IDs before settling with the one that we are most comfortable with. Nothing much to comment, the unit we paid almost 75k cov. A few simple amenities here and there convinced that this will be my home. And I die die want it. Hahhaha. Anyways, will start a Reno t blog soon as my place has started a major overhaul . Feel free to comment then. I am always at renotalk, so if u want to get me, just pm. I will be glad to help out in anyway I can. Cheers -
Hi , i am newbie too and lurking in RT for advises and lobangs. Recently i also bought an EM unit at west side. Been through lots of ID's ( some even did not come back to me ) Here is what i will be doing to my place 1. Hack lvl 1 flooring 2. Hack whole kitchen and flooring 3. Hack 3 toliets 4. Hack bedrooms cabinets and cupboards 5. Hack kitchen wall and rebuilt half height with glass ( open concept is good to see, not pratical to use ) 1. Relay lvl 1 flooring with homo tiles 2. Rebuilt Kitchen ( top and bottom )with glass backsplash. 3. Rebuilt toliet with homo tiles 4. Rebuilt 3 toliets 5. Build a wall partition at existing dining area and place top hung glass door 6. L - Box for all bedrooms rooms with 1 side cove lights 7. False ceiling for new dining, passage way and living ( living with cove lighting ) 8. Flat partition for tv feature wall. 9. re varnish lvl 2 flooring and staircase flooring/handles ( waned to change to glass but opt out reason being that having too much glass in the house makes it oo cold) * i will be using all homo tiles for walls and flooring MOst Ex quote almost 90k ( this one is thinking i am a huge carrot ripen to be chopped ) Cheapest is almost 52k Then we hve mid ranges - 60 to 70, will be choosing a few to requte after viewing, in this range before finalizing * will be starting my reno t-blog soon. wait for release =)
