  1. welcome mylittlethings, so glad you can join us on renotalk, I will be your ardent supporter
  2. Minerat, pls PM me your ID contact . Many thanks
  3. Main contractor or ID I have been very sure that I will be happier dealing with a main contractor rather than an ID. Maybe save some $$$ in the process. However, up to date, I have contacted five contractors and two ID and met with four contractors Darwin interior person was the first one I met, walked into their showrooms for a chat, then I emailed him my floor plan and told him my requirements. He never came back despite me calling him to remind him. Maybe my works are too little for a big company like theirs 2nd ID company, met at expo, she keep calling me but I was not keen to meet her as she has bad breathe and poor communication skills. contractor number 1 has provided me with two quotes. He may be the cheapest but maybe my gut feelings is just not right. Contractor number 2 have yet provided me with a quote but he does come across as genuine, knows his works Contractor number 3 claims to know everything but we can't click with him, no chemistry at all. And he has forgotten to quote Contractor number 4 gave up before we met. He said he had too much jobs on his hands Contractor number 5 is very experience builder, reminds me of Mr Phua Chu Kang from PCK pte ltd. we have to speak Hokkein. But he is good. I am waiting for his quote too. I am in no hurry to move into this new place as we still have our roof over our head and due to kids schedule, December is a better time for us to move. So Now at 11.29pm. I am thinking of other fellow forumers who have engaged an ID and have completed their projects. Should I invite a couple of ID companies to make me a proposal??? Anyone can help me out on this??? Minerat, Jumbopanther, anyone can advise me???
  4. Electricial and Aircon Works. ...... tomorrow I am meeting with the electrician cum aircon guy for a viewings and assessment. I engage him for a small job previously so I am giving his company a chance to quote me the electrical works, aircon chemical wash for some of the units, and change some of the airconditioner units as well. I have invited two companies to quote for this and the other one will come next Tuesday. some background on the aircon units there are TEN aircon in this house!!!!!! Three units on level one - the hall and dining area,in playroom Four on level two - two bedrooms, study room and family area Three on level three - two bedroom and family area Different brands and age too, I have sharp, Panasonic, samsung..... Very costly to change all at one go, the ones in hall and dinning areas, master bedroom and bedroom two will have to be changed. It will be costly.
  5. Jumbopanther I recd your PM. I am following your t blog. Many thanks.
  6. Beautiful choice for WC backing. I think your choice of tiles are very nice.
  7. Yes pls PM me. Need to know the options available. Thanks Jumbopanther!
  8. Waterproofing and roof tiles, pest control and paint quote Today I met up with the supervisor from 'U...' waterproofing company and he told me that my roof is still in relatively good condition. I need not replace any tiles but just do the external waterproofing. He mention a lot of technical terms which I had problem understanding. Now I need to scan a copy of the roof strict ion and building floor plan for him to quote me. I met up with someone from a reputable pest control company 'R " on Tuesday at 12noon. He is very efficient, email me a quotation in afternoon. On Wednesday he wanted me to confirm the contract immedicately and start the job. I just could not confirm the job without reading thru the 10pages of email attachments , since then he called and SMS to push me for an answer. He just have to wait till I get all my facts and figures together first. The price is $2850 ground treatment without roof $3500 with roof treatment before gst.is that expensive ? Besides this 'R' company does anyone have any good reputable company to recommend? First thing is the confirm my main contractor and remove all the old build in furnitures before I can do the termites treatment. Got a quote from a professional painter who quoted me $18,550 to paint the whole house external and internal, including doors and staircase, and scaffolding. One coat of sealant and two coats of paints on internal and external, walls etc. is it expensive...??? Anyone can advise me??? fellows forumers , your input is greatly appreciated . thanks
  9. Yes it is. I got sick after collecting my keys last Friday. After meeting up with four contractors to brief them on the house. I am totally exhausted. Don't know how Mr Minerat and other forumers keep up with their Reno work. It is very tiring. An update, Met Four contractors, still waiting for their quotations. Giving them one week to quote. Have good impression of two parties so will have a tough choice to make. Found out that we have some roofing issues so now we have a include scaffolding into the renovation. Waterproofing will start after replacing the tiles. So since scaffolding is up we might as well paint the whole house.... So what seems like some minor renovation will become a bigger project. Now I am the main contractor just wait and see
  10. Hi Minerat, I showed your hme office to my hubby . We have existing aircon at family area on level two, makes sense for us to make sliding glass door to create a small office too. Thanks for sharing. Can I visit your work in progress on day? Very keen to see.
  11. Teacher I am learning from you. From the pest control to the waterproofing, checking of site everyday, , I have been following your tblog from day one. Thanks for the great job! Keep it up.
  12. Renovating a 3 storey house is a big project. Finding the right parties to work with is a tedious process.

  13. My master bedroom is located on level two and my toilet window are facing my neighbours toilet window across the wall about couple of metres away. BTW my t-blog is up.
  14. The collection of keys was very late. Expected to pick it up at 5pm but delayed till 8pm. Thank God our law firm co-ordinator was nice and considerate to call me not to come early but to await her call at home. I even had time to take a short nap while waiting We made a short visit to the new place to check it out. I had applied with pub to do the metre reading yesterday so i don.t have to be around to open the door for them today since previous owner terminated their account yesterday. The previous owners clear out their stuff with not much stuff for us to clear with the exception of one unflushed toilet , yucks, We are meeting with some contractors tomorrow : 1. A professional painter recommended by a personal friend 2. A contractor which is also recommended by a friend and she found him on Renotalk. I shall not reveal his identity yet and keep you in suspense Another meet another two more contractors on coming Monday. Have not met any ID yet as we have an idea what we want our house to look like and are more hands on type of owners. The ID will likely to stiffer my creativity I have to stop here and get some rest to recover from my flu.
  15. Hi Sunny, Thanks for sharing. will upload some photos after i take them and figure out how to load them. I shall share about my home appliances selection soon. Stay tuned.
  16. I am looking forward to collecting my house keys today. Can't wait... my three kids have not shown so much enthusasim except where their rooms will be. I have been looking at kitchen appliances : build-in ovens, gas hob, hood, induction cooker and even dishwasher. Hubby said i can have a dishwasher. imagine that. i told him about the pros of having a dishwaher and after a sales presentation from harvey norman sales person at milenia walk he was sold on the idea. Went to two tile companies to see, touch and feel the tile and i was fasinated and inspired by the different look i can achieve with the tiles. but being conservative, please to not expect to fall off the chair when i start to post photos of my finished job. will be meeting up with a few contractors and IDs this coming week. will keep updating the blog when i am free.
  17. I started a blog on 11th Aug but the blog was in the wrong place and had no feedback finally i figured it out and now here i am in T-Blog A recap blogged on 11 Aug Just been informed by lawyers that my home completion will be coming Friday. Looking forward to viewing the place and plan for my renovation. This will be my first time renovating my own place as my two previous homes was in moved-in condition and only needed some minor jobs to enhance it. this is my first time blogging after reading the other members blog about their journey.
