Hi MK, Yup... it definitely is. The craftstone place is also not very near and is in one ulu place. I bought the crafstone but have yet to bring it in, trying to figure out how to bring it in slowly as I do not have a car. ;p Tiles would be worst as they are very much heavier per box! ;p

I was trying to keep to my simple budget so trying to see if can source tiles from J.B. But after discussion with Alan and the amount of work I have to do to move the tiles from J.B. to Singapore, decided to get it from Singapore. But J.B. has some fantastic tiles never see in Singapore. I was thinking of getting some of their mosaic tiles or small number of tiles of a particular type and add it into the Singapore tiles but seriously no time ! so I didn't. Will add more of the tiles I visited and saw soon.

Hi Ment0s, Its an E.A. I like the tiles too but my partner insists that on it looks good on photo only but when you see it in person and with all the grout lines it is not nice. I am not picky, but my partner definitely is. Woman! bah! Hoping that colors we chose for the kitchen and bathrooms turn out well.

Hi Retchlow, I actually, like the color too, but not in the size of the tiles as there are just too many grout lines and they are super white. ;P My partner on other hand hates it!. ;p So no choice have to remove it. When I 1st saw it , I was like ok, I am not going to hack any of these things. Thank you for your wishes and help!

Hi summersan, Thank you. My place is actually is 179sqm. So got some space to work it. But with the space comes the costs. So, I am trying to keep to a simple budget so only doing some parts of the place. However, I want to do so many things, but got to control myself. Just to give you an idea, most of the ID's I talk too quoted me from 60 - 100K. This is just for renovation and does not include lighting , furniture , fittings etc. The contractors who came also saw my place and said minimum 50K. Finally I talked to Alan and have been negotiating with him since February I think. Add things, remove things, cut price, get my hardware etc...etc...etc... until we both happy. Alan has been patient enough to go through my many many many many changes I have requested for. So finally tomorrow start the hacking! Phew! went on a rant...oops! Thanx for wishes and hope you visit my blog and give advice if you see anything wrong. thanx!!

Hacking both bathrooms and kitchen. Changing the tiles and do water proofing, there is a lot of leakage and the tiles grouts are super white, over time everything will turn black. Too many lines for me and that makes it too much maintenance in the long run. Don't want to spent too much brushing the walls and floors...;p

Tomorrow will be the start of hacking. Hacking of two bathrooms, kitchen and new entrance from Bedroom 3 to Common Bathroom. Hopefully everyone goes well !!

wahhh... you'll buy water and snacks for the sub con and they still treat you bad.... tsk....tsk...

That was what I was thinking, if I was the sub-con I would have called to the main contractor to find out because it does not seem to make sense. tsk.. tsk.

I will be starting soon, so I guess need to be there constantly to make sure the sub-con are doing the correct things. This seems to apply to all contractors as I talk to a lot of people and everyone told me , no matter who you choose, you got to be there to supervise, or else they might do something wrong and best it catch it earlier than later.

They actually install a swing door that will slam into the mixer at the common bathroom when it was supposed to be a sliding door. And they can stick a silicon sticker onto my mixer to minimize the impact! What's in their mind really? It's been a series of screw ups but this one really takes the cake.

I asked Alan about concealing the pipe before and Alan told me it is not possible for HDB. So when I saw Ment0s do it , I learn a workaround the rule. =) However it was pretty costly to do for my flat as I needed to do the wall as well as false ceiling. So decided not to do.... going over budget too many times. sigh.

Hi Ment0s, Can you tell me more about the 45 degree tile cutting and laying? Whats the pros and cons? Do you know anywhere I can read about it ? I am trying to decide and since you have done it , appreciate if you could me more info and based on your experience. thanx!!

Hi Z3phy, May I ask how much was the black stainless steel cabinet with Sink? Does it come with drawers or casement door? Also does it come as a set with the cabinet and sink along with a top hung Mirror? Mind also telling me the size of the cabinet like 2ft long or 4 ft etc... I am also thinking of buying something like that and appreciate if you reply me. Thanx!
