VERY heavy! i was half expecting that i can carry both chairs myself but i was wrong. anyway looking forward to the end product..stay tuned...heeee

    Wa, SMEG fridge! :dancingqueen:

I'm looking fwd to seeing how you "zng" the kopitiam chairs, they are in really good condition!

Btw, just curious, why did u order this Moen brand accessories? I'm looking for toilet roll holder too :P

I think this will be great too, plus you can move it anywhere you want :drunk:

    Yes, something like this :)

looking at your photoshop render of kitchen tiles..i think you may be able to rock reflective surfaces on your kitchen cabinets!

What kinda reflective surface laminate for cabinet? u mean metallic type?

  3. i wan do screeding. And the marble is green leh :jawdrop: . would you keep?

some parts of it cracked la.. at the main door area.

do u think can screed over the marble?

How nice if your flooring is green terrazzo instead of broken marble! :P The current one looks very vintagey. Are you going for more retro feel or industrial theme?

  4. Saw this cute little fan. It first caught my hubby's attention and I thought aye jus a small little fan so I didn pay much attention to it. Chanced upon it again in another shop we went to. This time they on the fan and I must say dun belittle the power of this fan :P We decided to buy it and place it in a corner of our living room. I m attracted to it much becos of e aesthetic reason hahaa.. vain me :P

Hi Mangoo, may I know where did you see this fan in Malaysia? Is it this address - Ho Seh Lightings / 47, Jalan Rosmerah 2/10, Taman Johor Jaya, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor ?

Any idea if the fan can oscillate up down or left right? Would love to get one for my home if it fits my budget. Thanks for your help!

how about this from TB? only CNY258, approx S$53 (excluding shipping).

    looks pretty retro too..

just search TB for 壁扇 (wall fan) they have quite a selection.. however, dunno whether can find 1 similar to the vento vino not..

Thanks! Will go check it out. I was looking for vento fino replica on TB but to no avail... Only found one which is freaking ex as well.

  6. i've got my keys too!

    camping here for your updates!

    Congrats on getting keys!

Good lah to re-do it to ur liking.. Most importantly must feel shiok staying there.. :good: Looking forward to following ur journey!

I am looking forward to the reno process too! Hacking starts tomorrow!

Yeah, mine is also an older resale condo and while it's pretty well-maintained for its age, the bathrooms and kitchen are somewhat dated hence fairly extensive reno required.

As for the vento fino fan, I think it's really cute and will be good if you can successfully work it into your dining area!

Vento Fino is cute but price is not! Amasco quoted me $488  I may go for a retro looking table fan instead, place it on ikea step stool, me think will look quite nice but not sure if the fan power is strong enough when placed near my bookshelves.

  7. hi bleucheeze, congrats (a little belated) on ur key collection. finally can get into full swing of reno soon huh! :yamseng:

paiseh to ask, urs a condo? very nice liao & very little u need to do liao compared to re-sale HDBs..:( but can read that u r gonna do up quite a fair bit to transform it into the theme u like? njoy! :thumbs up:

Thanks! No leh, it's resale condo, the carpentry is not in the best condition and design of kitchen is very outdated, so I changing all carpentry stuff except bathrooms! :sport-smiley-003:

yes, door will be more effective.

but, since you are only going to be using it when you put your makeup, a curtain should suffice..

    :dancingqueen:

  8. while a curtain will help, nothing beats a solid wall..

there will still be some "spillover" you just have to gauge what you will deem acceptable..

maybe if you on the aircon the whole day, the other room will also be cool (how much also depends on how thick your curtains will be)..

So door will be more effective compared to curtain right? I don't have the habit of using air-con when I sleep, only need it when I put makeup in the morning :P

  9. I will be creating a doorway between my master bedroom and walk-in wardrobe to join them together. Both rooms are separate currently and there is air-con in each room. I am concerned about air-con "spilling" over to the other room if I were to on one of the air-cons. If I use a curtain as some sort of door at the doorway, can this effectively prevent the air-con "spillover" effect?

  10. Hi bluecheeze, usually i only on this set of lights. For me, it's enof to lit my bedrm to watch TV, on the PC or do general stuff. But for study or reading I wld suggest to on other lights.. I hv a study table light n 4 downlights in the rm which I can switch on at different combinations to supplement this set of lights for different level of brightness.

I hv this under-the-fan lights bcos I want a set of lights in the centre of the room over the mj table when playing mj in the room... hee hee! I din go for those type wif 3 or more separate bulbs bcos dun like the design n like u I prefer this simple design. By the way this model comes with 2 bulbs inside the frosted cover...

Sounds great, I will go check it out then! What light bulbs is the fan using ah? LED?

  11. Your dining bench / chairs will be placed in the recessed area of the wall? It does seem quite big on a second look. I also recall that your table is quite 'slim' and if your bookshelves are 'slim' and the tracks are directly above them, then perhaps it should be ok. Furthermore your cute red lamps are not big so won't look cumbersome.

Yes, will place the dining bench into the recessed area of that wall on the left! My table is not very big la, 140 x 90. I really like that fan! But must go see the real thing first. Sekali it's very ex, then no need think about it liao :sport-smiley-018:

  12. The space for your dining table and bookshelves seem small. I think it will look cluttered for the wall-mounted fan, pendant lamps (the flower lamps?) and the track lights. Too many things hanging from the ceiling? Maybe focus on one key thing that you feel deserve the most attention?

Using the red caged lamps. Hmm... actually i feel the space is quite big leh. Bookshelves are very shallow to begin with.

That wall fan is actually quite small, 330cm wide x 440cm height incl rod. Er... if not wall mounted fan, I have to place a floor standing fan somewhere cos I don't wanna on aircon everytime I eat :P

  13. scared will rot lo. singapore 100% humidity. bathroom worse rite.

my contractor got quote la. but he only do wood carpentry mah.

if i dun wan wood then will have to buy outside.

    you using wood?

I am not renovating my bathrooms, no budget :~ The bathroom cabinets are normal plywood lor, no sign of rotting so far. I think plywood should be fine lah, my current place one also wood and we stay here for 10 years since our last reno.

Or u can go see those sink and cabinet combined kinda design when u go jln besar this weekend. Not sure what material though.

  14. ask you all ah...

i'm thinking of doing those stainless steel cabinet.

like those in universal union webbie.

i know quite ex... like $980 for a small Magnum brand one.

    any recommendation/comments?

coz wood ones cant tahan the moisture in the bathroom rite?

Er, stainless steel may rust if the grade of SS is no good. U asking your carpenter to build cabinets in your bathroom or u buying? How come don't wanna use normal plywood?

  15. Finally went down our place today, in daytime when there's plenty of natural light of course :P Utilities uncle came down too cos we used express service. Hehe. :sport-smiley-018:

Ok guys, need some help / suggestions here! I intend to place a bench and dining table parallel and close to the wall on the left, right beside the kitchen. So will move the pendant lighting point further to the left from its current position. Opposite the dining table where the mirror is now, I will have two book shelves placed here.

    P2270107_S_zps8d63ac63.jpg

    P2270116_s_zps1d305734.jpg

I will have 3 pendant lights over the dining table and either downlights or tracklights shining at the book shelves. Our contractor says there is no space for ceiling fan in the dining area. So am considering to install Vento Fino wall-mount fan somewhere above the dining bench, perhaps at the corner where the beam meets the wall behind dining bench.

What do u guys think of this arrangement? Is the ceiling too messy? I thought the Vento Fino looks pretty cool and will blend in with the overall look of our dining table. If I use tracklight instead of downlight on the ceiling in front of book shelves, does this add to the clutter?

    Amascoventofino_zpsea21cc65.jpg

  16. So good to hv higher ceiling..

I need to clean/wipe the fans once every 1.5-2 mths cos dust building up.. siong! imagine u 2 hv 5! pengz! (or Maria does the job? hee hee!)

Here it is (pics taken before moving in; cannot show pics now cos messy liao :P)

    Fan in Bedroom

    Fan-Bedroom_zps84eff9a1.jpg

What fan model is this? Can I check if the fan light is strong enough to lit the room if you don't switch on other lights? I'm thinking of getting this for study room, but my contractor says such design may not be bright enough and suggested me to buy those fan with 3 separate lights but I prefer simpler design.

    Thanks in advance!

  17. Anyone knows the difference between a built in oven and a stand alone oven?

the difference in prices is quite significant.

    :jawdrop:

Based on my limited knowledge, both are quite different. Built-in oven usually gives a more stable temperature n there is usually a fan to assist in heat circulation, so things are baked/grilled more evenly --> better texture, won't be one side darker than the other side. I have been using table top oven and can't wait to ditch it for a built-in one!

Perhaps can share more about what do u intend to use your oven for? If u are tight on budget, only intend to use oven for very simple things and need a microwave, can consider buying a microwave and oven toaster first (those super simple n small kind). Once u have more cash on hand, can then invest in a table top oven.

  18. Nice lamp!

All the best with the renovation process (you haven't started right? I'm getting so confused with the threads :P)!

    YUMMY!!!!!

I think you can definitely work a white kitchen with those tiles!!! It'll be so cheerful to cook in!

I'm actually looking for some real antique ones I want to mount on canvas as art for my kitchen!

Cui but still chio! Would you be touching up on it? Actually we thought of painting the ikea ones with similar green color too! Cos to match the mirror that we saw on TB :D

Thanks for the compliments! I don't intend to touch up the lamp, i like its current cui look! :sport-smiley-018:

Got the keys and went down our place after work today. As expected there is no electricity, so we use our hp flash light as we walk around. But just had a short "walk" in living room and kitchen, scaredy cat me don't dare to venture further, got out asap. Will meet our contractor there tomorrow :sport-smiley-004:
