I'm interested to know how your place will turn out! Am loving the pieces of furniture/furnishings you've bought already!
P/S: where did you find the tripod fan...i love it.

THe Koda Lamp was slightly damaged, got it for 300 i think.
To the Daft Punk fan..the metal door was custom made by my contractor, i think he works with a doorsmith.

Hi haidechen,
Your house is decorated nicely... May I know how much did you pay for the red console...

nice house. like it!!!!
Thanks Oliver... it's been a blast so far..except for the housework..haha

i think beams can be used creatively! can buy squarish shelves (ikea lack shelves) and build a small storage area, can hang pictures/photos, use them as lighting anchors (who says lights must always be fixed to the ceilings?)
-
yeh...metallic type...actually someone on renotalk did his whole kitchen in reflective silver laminate and i thought it look gorgeous! especially if you have the right things to reflect (your tiles)... anyway, burnt orange is a super cool colour too! complements your tiles.
-
looking at your photoshop render of kitchen tiles..i think you may be able to rock reflective surfaces on your kitchen cabinets!

@Makanology: THanks! I'm liking your inspiration pictures so far! Go COLOURS!

ya...i last stayed in a HDB flat in 1984...lol...so not used to flushing noises and things being thrown down the dustbin.not to mention i;m on the second floor, always hear glass breaking when ppl throw those down the rubbish chute.
i almost bought a flat at blk 143, which is near the Hindu temple...i guess can be a bit noisy. i think can get used to noise...now i hear the rubbish and flushing already no more reaction..
-
Thanks Jus4fun!
Yep, i had to preserve the original layout..so my sink area is really small.. but have already gotten used to it liao..including the flushing noises and ppl throwing glass down the rubbish chute noises...hehe

Would be good if someone who have tried the Boon Lay Power nasi lemak to give a review. Strangely I have lived in the west for almost my whole life but I never tried it before! Yet I have eaten the Changi Village nasi lemak umpteen times despite it being on the extreme opposite end of the island.
the one at the old Boon Lay market that opens at night? It;s really good...and the chilli is fantastic! I last ate there 5-6 years ago though..so not sure how it is now.
and grats on your 3 room flat! almost same layout as mine. hehe

ANd the Kitchen

Finally the kitchen/dining area. Having a kitchen island works out fantastically when friends or family comes over, can all sit around and cook/chat/eat.
Overall I have to say I am super satisfied with my contractor. He is Ah Heng of Panerai Decor. He executed my vision fully and was very helpful in helping me solve space planning issues. I will recommend him to any forummers looking for a contractor. Pm me if you want his contact.

The Outer Living Area + Entrance to flat
I LOVE BOOKS! very inspired by pictures of new york apartments, with open book shelves and large windows..unfortunately my windows open into the common corridor..

The Living area
I like chilling in my living room..with the Apple TV, the turntable and sony TV, i never run out of entertainment....looking to get the Wii U next and hopefully when PS4 comes out!

3 weeks later...an update.
Been living in my new flat for 3 weeks, so far so good. It's a great place for entertaining and to chill out, but cleaning is quite a hassle. Just left with minor touchups from contractor and the whole reno project would be complete.
Here's the flat after reno and some decorating.
Odd place to start...MBR toilet (common toilet is the same, except slightly different colour)
The messy bedroom

Got my scissors gate thru my contractor... Got no computer at the moment so all my stored info for cost and stuff will be shared later ok? Will pm you bachie

Notice your MBR bathroom walls are all cement screed? Any issue of water seeping in especially at shower area, since cement is porous?
The water seems to be seeping into the cement but evaporate in around 1/2 hour?

Sigh the only reason mine is 2 piece the staircase and lift going up to my flat is too narrow to accommodate the large single piece... Sigh...
-
Hi. Your crib is cool. I am contemplating doing the old-school type of metal gate that you have. Is it expensive? And would you mind sharing your contact? Thanks in advance.

Island 3m, Dining 1.5m.
nice! your cooking area is way bigger than mine. after having mine for a few days..am expecting that I will spill over prep work for cooking onto the dining side if I ever cook..haha
p/s: Indian granite is quite gorgeous. Do you have to cut yours into 2 pieces? Mine was coz the full length cannot go into HDB lifts...and also impossible to make the corner of my stairwell...

ah..never noticed the trunking over my gate...that will have to go black!
as for trunking in the house..i purposely left it white. wanted to paint them black....maybe i still might, but white itself adds an incomplete feel to the place....
