  1. Very very lovely place!

Hello Makan! Long time no see :) Hope your rectifications and all is coming along better. Don't pay the contractor the last cheque until he starts being responsible 8|

I'll load more pictures once it's confirmed we can load them. I can hopefully do so in August :P

  2. Thanks Makanology. The soundbar is also a 3D Blu Ray player. We reckon better to get that, so we do not need to buy separate pieces. Less clutter on the console. heheh. :P

Smart choice! We got a soundbar with the player installed too. Now that we're living in the house and using the things, it's the best decision we've ever made :P

  3. use google+ la .. :D

Thanks mrmerry for suggesting that! I finally tried it out and did a random google to find out how to copy and paste the link on renotalk. Coincidentally, the search returned a renotalk t-blog that you had commented on to share how to do so. Hahaha :D

Shall test if it works with one picture.

Am too lazy to go "revive" the other photos that were on photobucket :P

  4. wow.. fantastic place you have there.. love the decor especially ur unique balcony...

Thank you! The unique shape and layout made us decide to buy the place :)

lol waiting for the issue of which magazine in august? take some photos yourself!!!!!

Haha we did take some ourselves, but we don't have dslr, so it's all mobile phone camera quality :P

Waiting for Home and Decor in August. Apparently we're getting featured then :)

  5. Everything looks better when you use a dslr, haha :D Just realized we don't have professional shots of our home, oops :P shall load them soon now that our designers have passed the pictures to us!

More shooting in the house. Amazing how the home looks so different with a professional camera. The cat is unsure of the new people. Hahaha :P Quite excited to see how the home turns out in the magazine.

  6. Thanks! Ya, Paperus looks expensive.. a glass bottle already $45.. no pictures to see on the website somemore..

By the way, one way to counter the bad feng shui effects of cactus i heard.. jus tie a red ribbon around it, i.e. if it does not seem out of plc in a modern comtemporary style.. :P

    Can see! http://www.paperus.com.sg/products.html

You click on the different tabs - premium gardens, basic gardens or bottles :)

  7. Many ppl have advised against having cactus in the hse due to bad feng shui: 会伤和气, casue dispute, arguement, etc. in the hse.. but up to individual's preference ba!

I like this! Can advise where to get, especially where there is variety to choose from?

I only hv the usual orchid, evergreen, 铁树 in the hse.. mostly bou from Ikea..

You can check this place out - http://www.facebook.com/greenbanana.net?fref=ts

But he mostly uses cacti in his terrariums.

Otherwise, you can check out http://www.paperus.com.sg/index.html. They use a variety of plants. But they are quite expensive :P

  8. It looks like this. Below the picture is compressed cement...

    KitchenTiles.jpg

We have the same tile! But we only have 1 such tile in the house, haha :D

Hi MHB, if you are using the painted cement tiles, yes I agree with retchlow. They stain easily. We brought some extra pieces to be displayed for our ROM buffet presentation and someone put the gravy pot lid on it. After the event, the gravy went into the tile permanently!

I second what Makanology says! We bought some pieces for display around the house, and the one that we're using in the kitchen has soaked up the moisture around it and dulled in color. We bought another 6 pieces to place on our balcony and display our mini greenhouse on, and because we were going to put it outdoors, the tile shop advised us to apply a coat of sealant. Having seen how they apply sealant (they really just take a can of sealant and brush a layer on), I highly doubt it'll last long. I think the tiles on our balcony (sealant applied) have dulled slightly already.

  9. Do you mind sharing where you got the Smeg microwave from and the cost? Gotta find something similar for our place too

We got all our SMEG stuff from the main distributor in Singapore - APS Lifestyle. They have a building somewhere around River Valley :) I can't quite remember the price, but it was around $400. We got the one with parts from Italy but assembled in China. The salesperson recommended the assembled in China one saying it was more value for money. If I remember correctly, the parts from Italy and assembled in Italy model was around $1000. Those prices are before the designer discount :)

Super love our air fryer. It's been serving us crispy fries, and today we tried mini curry puffs with it. Can't stress how easy it is to fry things now that we have the air fryer. The gorgeous Mayer air fryer is still on sale at Tangs the last time we went a week or two ago. Very value for money! For those who want an air fryer, go check it out :)

  11. I like it but Mr E feels so so about it. The other problem is I don't know where to put at home though I do know we have underestimated my Hello Kitty collection and we are seriously running out of display space.

Ah yes, always important to have something to help organize the house. Convince the husband! :D

The plates are nice!! Can you share where u got them? Any other designs?

Got those dessert plates from Soon Lee at Haji Lane. But that shop changes their stock quite often, so I'm not sure if they'll still have those plates. We got them quite a while ago.

  12. I know I'm very late to this scene (haha :P), but we just went to CB2 last weekend and were quite impressed with the layout.

    2013-06-02175959.png

The pieces here have more character as compared to the cleaner pieces in Crate & Barrel. Some of them are more affordable as well, but most of them were about the same price as the pieces in Crate & Barrel. It's interesting how the store diversified into one clean-cut store in ION and one edgier store next to Centrepoint.

Didn't get anything (except for a dinosaur candle holder) because we've already gotten whatever we need for the house. It was very tempting to get more because of the many pretty things there, but too many pretty things in one not-so-big house only makes the place look smaller and wastes the beauty of the things. Have to exercise control :P

    2013-06-08122038.png

We don't know where to put the dinosaur yet, so the bookshelf will have to do. Spot the dinosaur! :D

Also, our IKEA Fabrikor cabinet has been serving us well. We got the dark grey one because our place is already very white and doesn't need another cream item, and our parquet floor is darker wood so the light green one would look rather odd (that's just my thinking, feel free to disagree :P). But looking at the picture below totally makes me swoon.

    Fabrikor-ikea.jpg

I think it's the combination of wall tiles, floor tiles, long window and accessories inside the cabinet. The beauty is really in the details. Imagine bottles of Mama Lemon or striking orange plastic floor mats :bangwall: Hahaha, tak match.

Time to clean the house and arrange the stuff again. Got to prepare for visitors next week. So much work :P

  13. It's really bad right? All these big players behaving like that. Grafunkt is supposed to be a premier brand and as such you would expect better from them. I didn't have a good experience with boconcept too. It is such incidents which make you feel that sometimes, the small shops are the best.

Anyway, did you try speaking to the boss Jeffrey? Think he is always at the playfair outlet on weekends. if i were you I would go down to the store personally and request for full refund - no store credits and the full 100%.

Totally agree. We only have two pieces of furniture (coffee tables) from Grafunkt, and we only bought them because they were heavily discounted and were quite pretty. Otherwise, I find them very overpriced. The smaller boutique shops are much much better, in terms of service and value.
