  3. most internal designers i see in sg really cannot make it. all the ones that can usually done by architect. no mystery there. theres no regulatory board for internal design in singapore. dont even need a cert to be one.
  4. Sketchup is fun and exciting i do alot of my own work on it. can even email my clients and they can see their own designs for review post some pictures of your id work soon let me know if you need any help if your in doubt about the design and try not to kana con by beng beng id haha cheers.
  5. Demond ong looks like an architect who loves his work. lucky you didn't get a Internal designer instead. he would give you a stark and sad mimimalis home
  6. If your buying modular system, i reckon just go for ikea. pole systems in singapore are so expensive.
  7. Hi lily, brick work feature wall is not that expensive. if you hunt deep enough here you can get cheaper rates from these "designer" contractors. top and bottom cabinets go form 180-240 per foot run soild surface prob 60-80 per foot run what kind of tiles are you doing up your toilet? 35k sounds like a marble cladded toilet hope your renovation goes well
  8. i agree with 70wood. for wooden tiles. just go with the longer side to make your room as big / long as possible. make sure to arrange in staggered pattern or it will look funny as well
  9. depends on your design, i seen homes with 45degree chengal wood decking in bath room. or even herringbone pattern. theres no right or wrong. horizontal stretches the bathroom , vertical lengthens it. thats all
  10. Hi Golex, what program i used I used photoshop and autocad for your home layout and did it in 10mins. I wont recommend you to download them though, their hard to learn, you might wanna try google sketchup instead. Hacking of the study walls As for hacking down half the wall to insert a glass piece, it would depend on why you are doing it. Isit to watch TV in the Living or to contain your children inside so that you can watch over them? if its just a study i suggest not to do a glassed up opening, 1. it makes your living room cluttered and less orderly. also, it makes you less secure when your studying. think open office with boss looking at you etc. 2. if your intention is to watch tv. youll need to install looping audio and the TV has to face the other side. means your couch will block the entrance to the living area. overall i think its not a very good idea 3. if you really want to make the space bigger, you can always save cost and just use mirrors, im sure your designer can design something smart to create some illusions Updated Floor Plan I have updated the floor plan for you. hope you enjoy you new home soon
  11. singapore should start regulating unscrupulous builders
  12. ivan i dont think you considered the lifestyles of the gohlex family, what if he would like to spend more time in the living areas as the bedrooms are so tiny and small, just put furniture in and suddenly it all dosent make sense. here you go gohlex. no bs big designer words just whats realistic for your home in a generic fashion. As for open kitchen concept, i advise against it as you arent allowed by HDB to install ventilating cooker hoods that discharge fumes out of the apartment.
  13. if you need a good kitchen, just hire a experienced properly trained designer with at least a diploma in design and your life would be easy.
